Title: I Hate Computers

MyBabyBunnies - March 7, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
I guess they're right when they say "never has a generation had such a love-hate realtionship with technology".

I've been in the process of getting the kinks worked out of my new(er) computer lately and now it's making me mad. For some reason, 2 of the 3 programs I used to use for photo editting have stopped working and it tells me to reinstall them. The only problem, I'm not sure where I got those programs from and all the CD's are packed away somewhere in a mountain of boxes, doomed to remain there for a few months. That would be why I still have my Valentines signature up. It's making me so mad!

I love to edit photos but I can't anymore! The only program I have now is Paint and I only use that for resizing pictures and you can't do any of that fancy stuff with it.

I can't help but hate technology. I'll be really mad if I borrowed those CD's so I can't even install them back on and then I wont be able to edit photos again. :(

Ok, that's my rant for today.

Hey Laura,

The Google photo editor is great! Can you download it?

http://picasa.google.com/

You use 'export' or 'email' to resize. Its great for organizing your photo albums and doing all sorts of fixes and effects.

Im sorry!! You always have great pictures... Now how are we going to enjoy them??

jojo - March 7, 2006 06:11 PM (GMT)
it sounds like the drivers are gone and just need to be downloaded again. Of course if you don't have the discs anymore than you can't do it :( . That so frustrating when things like that happen. I hope you can fix it so you can start editing you pics again.

MyBabyBunnies - March 7, 2006 06:26 PM (GMT)
That's what my BIL said as well. I'm almost tempted to go buy a program myself but all the half decent ones are $150 or more and I can't justify spending that much money on a program right now. I guess that means I'm just going to have to live with no photo editting. <_<

Too bad, it's my nephews baptism on Sunday and I was hoping to make a collage of pictures to put on the front of the card as a keepsake for him but now I can't. :(

you could do it the old fashiond way with glue and scissors. Of course that takes for ever, but it is possible.

picasa.google.

I just started using Picasa. I have several thousand pictures of Pebbles now with the new camera that I don't know what to do with all the picutres. Most of the shots is experimenting with the camera and learning the different menus.
I will have to buy some program eventually because I would like to shoot RAW.

MyBabyBunnies - March 8, 2006 02:09 AM (GMT)
But can you do things like erase the background and apply effects using the Google one or can you only crop and edit out things like red eye?

As for doing it manually, I don't have time for that because his baptism is Sunday and I have more homework than I can handle right now without adding another project to it. Plus, I was planning on doing some effects to it and adding words and doing that manually would be impossible or at least impossible to look nice. And I was planning on using good photo paper and I don't have enough sheets to print them all and glue them on to another.

I feel your pain. I hope you figure something out soon. If you're missing the drivers you might be able to find the drivers at the website for the programs that's not responding.

You might try rolling the system back to an earlier date...system restore. Most computers have that nowadays. Just make sure you roll it back past the last time you remember being able to use those programs.

I hate computers because it seems like all I ever do on mine is try to clean it up. I guess I'm too much of a pack-rat cause I manage to junk one up pretty fast. :ph43r:

I got sick last night so I am get to be on the computer all day as I wait for my doctors appointment!! I hope you get your programs back but Inever had a great photo editor thing... I tried to use paint but it wouldnt work and right now I am using Zoom Browser X, which came with my camera. But all it does is elimanate red eye, crop, brighten or darken pictures.

Especially considering it's free (its not Photoshop), but it lets you do quite a bit. :)

Not sure about background, but it does have a colour picker thingy, must be there for a reason. It can do collages, effects, etc.

Check it out! Easy to download.

I would but I don't like to download programs, plus I've had nothing but problems with stuff downloaded from Google so I'm going to have to pass. Thanks for trying to help me find a program though!

All the programs I have were free as well, I'm pretty sure they came with things like the digital camera and Ithink I got one from a friend of my brother-in-law. But that's why it took 3 programs, none of the could do everything. I've been tempted to go buy a version of photoshop but as I said, I can't justify that right now.

PIPP - March 8, 2006 06:46 PM (GMT)
yeah, I bought a Nikon and a Kodak at the same time to test them out, ended up returning the Kodak, and this was after losing my Sony, so I had software for all three. :)

I also had a Adobe Photoshop Elements and I think Arcsoft and an Epson photo program that came with my scanner. I used the whole works!

Good luck with it!

I downloaded the program that Pipp suggested but I am still trying to figure out how the heck to use it... Plus my computer puts restrictions on everything so Iam working on taking those off also.. Cant wait though,, Maybe I will have somewhat decent pictures!!

fiver_2000a - March 18, 2006 04:27 AM (GMT)
I don't do any of those things. I take the pictures with my digi cam, then I post them where ever I can, then I forget that I even have them on a website... then i take the pictures over again, then I post them on another site and this is a vicious cycle... Gosh, I have lost some cute pics too... :( Oh well... I still got the kids (those are who's pictures I keep losing! hee hee)

Anyone who's had photos developed to disc at a store should have a program on the disc.

Walmart always has Microsoft Picture on theirs.
