Title: Affirmative Action
Description: I hope this is okay to post!

Mods & Admin, if this is not okay to post as it deals with race please remove/close it. I'm not sure.....
Anyway, are you for or against affirmative action?
For the most part I am against it. In my opinion, people should not get scholarships or accepted to college because they aren't white. IMO it's prejudice. That's all I have to say. :)

I disagree with it. It is prejudice, no matter how you slice it.

We did alot of this in my Modern Studies class at school... I found it a really interesting subject. It's aimed at taking away discrimination and then forces employers/universities/etc to discriminate.
I guess it's a good idea in theory... but I don't see how it helps anyone... :dunno:

I used to deal with AA quotas ALOT in one of my previous jobs. In theory, it WAS a good idea many years ago that has long since served it's purpose. I think for the most part we, as a society, are over that and it needs to be done away with.
It really bothers me that we have a cable channel called BET (Black Entertainment Television for those of you that don't have it). Do you know what the outcry would be like if we had a dedicated channel called White Entertainment?? It's ridiculous and unnecessary.
I like Morgan Freeman's stance on Black History Month. If you can find his recent 60 Minutes interview online somewhere. He said the only way to eradicate racism in society is to "stop talking about it". Black history IS American history. He is completely against AA, in fact, he doesn't even want people to be called white or black...they are just people. I agree.

 Mr Freeman!
BTW, I'm letting this topic stay as long as no-one decides to start racial abuse... Affirmative Action is more about politics than anything else. :)
