Well since the hippies are storming Edinburgh this weekend, I thought I'd bring this subject up.
Do you think the debt should be scrapped? Trading sanctions dismissed? Or do you think that any money given to third world countries is just given to the dictators and used to buy ammunition for their armies?

Not agreeing with the whole "storming" my capital city thing, but I agree with the principals of scrapping third world debt... I'll go into it more in detail once I've had a proper think...
Even MacDonalds is shutting it's doors in Edinburgh this weekend... Now they must be expecting BIG trouble to be doing that! This is MacDonalds afterall! :D

Yeah, I think the events in Somalia in the 1990's was proof positive that any aid sent to needy people in impoverished lands ends up in the hands of the government or local warlord. It's sad, really. :(

I think anything given well can be turned to bad use, but there is always some good that gets through.

We can't know that what we give is all going to be used for the right reasons, but personally I do know that not to give because of that seems a worse thing to me.
