CHAPTER ONE

“Lewis!” his mother called from downstairs. “ Time for breakfast.”

Lewis, fourteen with brown hair, green eyes and sometimes a short
temper, lazily rose from his bed to come down for breakfast like any
other day on One Island of the Sevii Islands. As Lewis walked out of his
ordinary room he first went to his computer sitting on a big desk with
many pokemon nicnacs and other paraphernalia of a regular teenage life
filled with pokemon. Then he turned it on like he always did on a
Saturday morning. Then he walked slowly down the stairs, through the
living room with randomly scattered furniture, and a cute little dog
pokemon nicknamed Sally, which was really a Poochyena that his
parents gave him for his birthday two years ago, laying on a couch,

“Good morning Lewis,” Sally said happily.

“Good morning Sally,” Lewis replied remembering blissfully how long
it had taken him to learn how to understand pokemonish. He walked into
the kitchen with Sally close behind.

“SURPRISE!!!” People shouted as Lewis walked into the kitchen.

“ AAAAAKAPOOKIE!!!” Lewis shouted his signature shout seeing
almost everybody he knew was there including his best friend, who he
had a crush on since the sixth grade but knew since they were three, her
name was Samantha he called her Sam for short. His other friend Justin
who he had been friends with since the third gradewas there tooas well
as his Mom and Dad. They were all holding a white iced cake with little
doilies in red and white and shaped like pokeballs and in the center was
fifteen candles in a circle. Suddenly Lewis remembered he was still in
his pajamas and with his face bright red, he ran back to his room to
change. When he came back everyone was sitting at the table and
talking. As he came in everyone was quiet. He sat down.

“Uh, you guys can still talk,” Lewis said nervously, “I want some
breakfast and some of that cake.” His parents came with a feast of
waffles, bacon, eggs, toast, and syrup.

“ Okay, what am I forgetting?” Lewis thought strangely, “There must be
something I’m missing here, Sam and Justin are being unusually nice to
me, and Mom and Dad look like they are about to cry.” Then the answer
hit him like a bullet.

“ Oh yeah, I’m supposed to enter the Sevii Island League tomorrow with
my first pokemon! I still have no idea who I’m going to choose out the
three,” He thought to himself, totally unaware that everybody was still
looking at him.

“Fine, you guys can come with me,” Lewis finally said to Sam and
Justin. They immediately sent out a whoop of joy.

After breakfast, Sam and Justin left to pack for the next day and Lewis
did the same, making sure to pack enough clothes and other necessities.
He was also sure to make room for the pokeballs he was soon going to
stock up on too. Then he spent the rest of the day looking at the guide
book he had gotten for his birthday that day and looked at the starters,
nicknamed the dinosaur starters. Each was a different type: one a steel
type, another a psychic, and the last was a dark type.

There was Metallico, the steel type. It was a pokemon that was gray all
over and look liked a miniature Steelix except that it was more rounded
and only had two segments, a head and a tail. The head was the segment
that had the four legs with the tail sticking out like a spike. Its second
stage, Metallica, looked the same but much bigger and the tail-like spike
was longer and the legs was more muscular to hold its weight.

Then, it would evolve into Stenr and look completely different, just like
its name. It was a large, metallic dinosaur-looking pokemon with shiny
gray spikes running down along its sides from the head to the spike
looking tail (the only thing it kept.) It stood five feet tall and on two legs
with sharp toenails that dug into the earth to hold its ground. Its arms
extended out from the body with all the joints of a dinosaur but with
sharp claws to skewer its prey.

The next one was the dark pokemon, Minotar. It looked like a very large
rat that could stand on two legs and was black all over with two long
sharp claws for hands and small claws on its three-toed feet.

Its evolution was named Azuitar (A-zu-itar) but it was almost the same.
It was still black, but it had a little stump of a tail that would grow longer
when it evolved. It had a three-fingered hand with claws that could
extend and retract depending how it was feeling at the time, the longer
they were, the angrier it was and the smaller they were, the happier it
was.

The final evolution was Dinotar. It looked much like a Tyranitar except
that it had a longer tail and was the same height as Stenr. It was also
completely black and had the retractable claws that Azuitar had and it
also had a small tiny, round, stump-like horn on its head.

The last starter is the psychic type, Sythalle. She is a small, dark purple,
simple, dragon-looking pokemon with a white underbelly. It is so dark a
purple that in the right light it looked black. Unlike most of the starters,
she only comes in the female variety. She has black dots for eyes and
small wings that can’t be used for flying. The second evolution is
Mindossa. She looks like Sythalle but is longer, her wings are shaped
more like a bat’s wings, has a small horn on the back her head and is a
violet color.

The final evolution is Lorus (loh-rus.) She looks like a light purple
pterodactyl with a very large horn sticking out from the back of her
head, and a sharp beak-like mouth.

When Lewis was done reading it was already 10:00 PM.

“Boy, I better get to bed. Tomorrow will be a busy day at the lab,
meeting Celio, the head of the laboratory on One Island, and then there
will be a lot of traveling too,” he said to himself. Then he jumped into
bed and fell asleep, excited about the next day.

CHAPTER 2

In the morning Lewis woke with a start, ready to get to the lab. Getting
dressed, he ran down the stairs to find nobody in the kitchen. He looked
at the clock to find that it was only 8:30 and everybody was still asleep.
So he walked back upstairs and started up his computer to see if his
friends were online to talk to. He signed on to find that they were indeed
on, so he invited them into a chat room and they started talking about the
day ahead.

“What Pokemon are you going to choose?” Lewis typed in.

“I’m getting Metallico,” Justin responded.

“Well, I want Sythalle,” Sam put in.

“Fine, then I’ll take Minotar,” Lewis typed in excitedly because that was
the one he wanted in the first place.

“So, where are we going to go first?” Lewis asked their navigator, Sam.

“Well, after we get our starters, I was thinking of going out to Mt. Ember
to look for some Pokemon. Then, after a while of catching and training
there, we head off to the port on the coast and sail to Two Island for the
first gym there,” Sam typed out.

“Sounds like a good idea,” Justin typed.

“That sounds fun; good planning, Sam,” Lewis typed.
They chatted some more until 10:00 when they had to go meet up at the
lab and choose their starters.
When Lewis arrived at the lab he looked around to see Sam and Justin
already sitting there on a red couch. They were in the lobby, with had
bright-red colored wallpaper with various posters advertising the Sevii
League. The 7 gym badges you had to obtain before you could enter the
Sevii Championship, with trainers all over the islands competing for the
Sevii Trophy and the title of the Sevii Master, were also displayed on
them.

Finally a tall man with round glasses, brown hair and a large white lab
coat entered the lobby. Sam, Lewis, and Justin immediately knew it was
the famed Professor Celio of the Sevii Islands. He was known for
creating devices you could use for long distance trading in Hoenn, Johto,
Orre, and Kanto. Kanto was just a small ride on one of the 12 ferries
trainers and other people have been using to get around the vastly spread
out islands. It usually takes a day or more to get to the next island while
riding on your Pokemon but it was hard to get the machine to teach a
Pokemon how to do that.

“New trainers come this way,” he said motioning towards the entrance to
the lab. Sam, Justin and Lewis followed him into a room with dull gray
walls and many machines lining them. In the center was a little podium
with a red colored glass dome. Three pokeballs were inside dividing the
round podium into thirds.

“Hello Lewis, Justin, and Sam. I’m glad to see you’re all finally ready
for your own Pokemon. Well, you guys can go ahead and pick. The one
farthest away is Metallico, the one on the right is Sythalle and the one on
the left it Minotar,” Professor Celio said walking towards the podium-
like container. He pressed a button and the dome opened up.

Lewis went first, excited that the time had finally come for him to
actually have his own Pokemon. He walked over to the left side of the
podium-like container and picked up the pokeball that contained Minotar
in it.
“Good choice.” Professor Celio said, “Go ahead and send it out.”
“Okay.” Lewis said nervously “Go Minotar!”
He threw the ball at the ground and it opened with a pop and jumped
back into his hand. On the floor of the lab, in a flash of red light, was the
rat-shaped Pokemon Minotar standing there with his claws almost
completely retracted into his hands.
“Min?” he said in a confused tone. He looked around the room to see
who opened up his pokeball, spotting Lewis with it. He walked over
there and stood in front of Lewis looking up at him with innocent eyes.

“Hello!” he said happily, “Are you taking me on a journey with you?”

“Yes I am, Minotar, I’m Lewis,” Lewis responded a little sheepishly.

“Wow! This sounds fun,” Minotar exclaimed.
Next it was Sam’s turn, she walked over to the right of the podium and
picked up the pokeball containing Sythalle.
“I’ll take Sythalle,” Sam said. She walked over to the podium and picked
up Metallico’s pokeball.

“I thought you wanted Sythalle,” Professor Celio commented.

“Oh yeah,” She said and put Metallico’s pokeball back where it was.

“Jeez Sam, don’t take my Pokemon!” Justin said, smirking.

“Will you shut up?!” Sam shouted angrily at Justin. “The only reason
you’re going last is because you would choose the wrong one too. I’m
just as nervous as you!” She picked up Sythalle’s pokeball and threw it
on the ground it popped open with a bright red light and the dragon-like
Pokemon was laying there look around.

“Sythalle” She said in a high squeaky voice. She spotted Sam and
slithered over to her.

“Who are you?” she asked Sam, “And where are we going?”

“You, these guys, and I are going on a big adventure and you will be my
cute little friend that will travel around with me,” Sam answered the
small, frail Sythalle.

“Hmmm,” Sythalle said, thinking out loud and deciding to go or not.
“This sounds like a fun adventure, I’m in.”

The last person was Justin.

“Well then, I’ll take Metallico,” He said as he walked over to the podium
and picked up Metallico’s pokeball. “He’s just the Pokemon for me,
too.” He then threw the ball down towards the ground, but when it hit
the ground it never opened. He walked over to it, picked it up, and
pressed the button to open it up. The inside was all gray with tiny
mirror-looking tiles on the edges- everything was there, except a
Pokemon.

“Well, this is an interesting turn of events,” Professor Celio stated
matter-of-factly. “ I swear there was a Pokemon inside it before I came
out to bring you guys in-” He stopped speaking as he noticed the
window was open.

“Oh no!” He cried as he walked over the window inspecting it. He
noticed some foot prints in the pattern of someone coming and then
running away.

“Did you three notice anybody suspicious lurking around here?”
Professor Celio asked the three of them.

“No; we were all with you in the lobby,” Lewis answered.

“We couldn’t have seen anything,” Sam added. Then Sam noticed
something outside, it was a piece of red fabric. “This is probably from
the perpetrator’s clothing. Now that we know what the thief’s wearing
we’ll find Metallico easily.”

“Guys, I don’t have another Metallico for Justin so you have to find it
for me,” Professor Celio announced.

“Don’t worry Professor we’ll get it back,” Lewis reassured him.

“Good, but before you go, I have something for the three of you,” The
professor walked to a table and picked up three, red, book-looking
pokedexes and gave one to each of them. “These are pokedexes. They
can be used to catalogue each Pokemon you’ve found and tell you the
attacks they know. They also open up a money account for you and each
time you win a battle you are rewarded money from your opponents
account. You can also play games on them but that’s just a side feature.”

“Thanks!” The three shouted in unison as they left the Professor
worrying about the stolen Metallico.

<(^^)> ^(^^)^ <(^^<) (>^^)>

“Let’s split up,” Lewis suggested, sitting on a bench, “We can find the
thief faster,”

“Good idea,” Sam agreed.

“I don’t care you guys; just please, find him,” Justin said gloomily.

“Justin, do you always have to be a cry-baby about things like this?”
Sam asked annoyed at all of Justin’s moping around. “You haven’t
helped us at all, you-”

“Sam, stop yelling at him; it’s not his fault,” Lewis argued, “You would
feel the same if your precious Sythalle was taken before you even had
it.” While Sam and Lewis kept arguing over Justin’s feelings, Justin was
sitting on the bench looking around, trying to help after being told he
wasn’t helping. He soon spotted a girl about their age in a red shirt,
made of the same fabric of the piece of clothing they had found, walking
into a pokemart. He got up from the bench and walked across the road
leaving the still-arguing Sam and Lewis behind.

When he entered the mart he saw the girl in red looking at the pokeball
shelf. Satisfied that she wasn’t going anywhere for a little bit, knowing
how women are and shopping, walked around to look at the blue-walled
mart with all sorts of Pokemon items including: revives, potions of all
colors and sizes, and pokeballs of different colors too. He walked up
next to the girl in red and looked for a hole where the cloth had been
ripped off.

“Um, what are you doing?” The girl asked Justin.

“Oh me?” Justin asked, getting nervous. “I’m just looking at your
pokeballs to try to figure out what Pokemon you have.”

“Well, you can’t guess them when they’re inside their pokeballs. You
have to see them in a battle,” challenging Justin.

“I can’t battle,” Justin responded, noticing that there was a rip just above
her pants at about the same height as the piece of cloth was found.

“Why not?”

“Because you stole one of the starters Professor Celio was handing out.
You stole my Metallico!” Justin accused the girl. Understanding she was
finally caught she ran out of the mart and down the road towards the
beach.

“Guys!” Justin shouted to Lewis and Sam who were amazingly still
arguing but looked up surprised to find him running after the girl who
had stolen the Metallico. “Hurry up I found the thief!” Lewis
immediately ran after her.

Noticing Sam slowly walking behind he shouted, “Sam, c’mon and
hurry up already!”

“I’m coming as fast as I can!” Sam shouted back. But she still kept at her
own pace. The chase continued all the way to a ferry on the beach that
would bring trainers to the opposite beach. The thief had almost made it
until Justin made a flying tackle and brought both of them to the ground.
Lewis soon followed behind and kept the girl on the ground while Justin
got up.

“Okay,” Justin said, “Give me Professor Celio’s Metallico.”

“I will if you battle me for it,” The girl said grimacing at the pain the
tackle had caused and Lewis holding her down.

“But-” Justin started.

“Not you!” She snapped, “I want the other boy and Sam to battle with
me; two on one.”

“Hey, how do you know Sam?” Lewis asked confused at the situation.

“Because we went to Pokemon school together,” Sam interrupted the
conversation before the girl could speak. “This is Amanda. Amanda this
is Lewis and Justin,” Amanda looked confused for a second, and then
turned to Sam

“Hello Sam,” Amanda sneered. “You still have to battle me for the
Metallico though.”

“Fine,” Lewis accepted the challenge.

“Okay fine,” Sam said, really not wanting to battle yet.

“Go Metallico and Pikachu,” Amanda started the battle. Justin’s
Metallico popped out in a red light and so did a yellow mouse with red
cheeks, pointed ears with black tips and a tail in the shape of a lightning
bolt.

“Meta!” Metallico shouted ready to fight.

“Pikachu!” Pikachu shouted also ready to fight.

“Go Minotar!” Lewis shouted throwing the pokeball. It popped open
with a red light to reveal the black rat-like Pokemon with its claws fully
extended.

“Min!” It said scraping its claws together, creating a scratching, metal-
like sound.

“And go Sythalle!” Sam shouted, throwing her pokeball. It popped open,
revealing the small dragon-like Pokemon with her eyes glowing ready to
attack.

“Uh what moves does this thing know?” Lewis asked pulling out his
poekdex.
“At its current state, Minotar knows only scratch,” the pokedex said in a
robot-like voice.

“At its current state, Sythalle knows only confusion.” said Sam’s as she
did the same.

“Sam, you take Metallico and I’ll take Pikachu,” Lewis strategized with
Sam. “Your Pokemon has more of an advantage on Metallico than my
Minotar.”

“Okay,” Sam replied.

“Okay Minotar let’s go and scratch Pikachu the hardest we can!” Lewis
shouted to Minotar. Minotar ran at Pikachu with all his might,
lengthened his claws and scratched at Pikachu.

“Pika!” The mouse howled in pain and rage.

“Pikachu!” Amanda shouted, “Use your thundershock on Sythalle and
Metallico go and tackle Minotar!”

“Pi-ka-chuuuuuuu” Pikachu screamed as it let loose electricity heading
in Sythalle’s path.

“Sythalle!” Sam shouted “Use confusion to send it straight to Metallico”
Sythalle’s eyes glowed light purple, and just as the electricity was about
to hit, it turned on around and connected with Metallico”

“Metallico!” He shouted and fell down with swirls replacing his eyes.

“Return,” Amanda commanded and Metallico lit up red and went inside
the pokeball. “Here!” She threw the ball to Justin, “It’s all yours now.
Pikachu use another thunder bolt, but this time on Minotar!”
Just as the bolt reached Minotar it was redirected right back at Pikachu.

“Pika!” It screamed.

Lewis looked at Sam admiringly.
“Thanks,” he said. Sam smiled and nodded back “Minotar, while its
distracted, use scratch on
Pikachu!” The Minotar ran up to Pikachu again and again scratching
him.

“Pika!” it shouted as it hit the ground with swirls replacing its eyes.

“Darn it!” Amanda shouted and started to storm off towards the ferry.

“Hey wait Amanda!” Sam called after her, “Why don’t you come with us
and travel around?”

“All right if you keep me away from them cousin!” Amanda said, then
noticing what she had said turn white with fear.
Justin and Lewis gasped, Sam just glared at her crossing her arms in
front of her.
