Title: Want to support new modern amiga diskmag ?
Description: Want to support new modern amiga diskmag

kas1e - May 11, 2006 06:53 AM (GMT)
Hi 2 all. For first, sorry for my bad english, but i hope here is will be noone who will annoing with it and really can't understand what i mean. (also i want to said, that of course, all articles in diskmag are/will spelcheked for 'correct' english).

So. We works on new hi-rez amiga diskmag. And sadly to said, but first issue of diskmag will not have AGA support. Here is tons of 'think' why we do not support AGA at this time. I will not talk about it right now, but want to said that i am understand, that big part of users can't enjoy it in fact of not supported AGA chipset. Solution for this users - is winuae only with warp3d wrapper. So, all users who do not understand how it possible 'not use AGA on amiga' can stop reading here :)

For all who still in interest, i can said about reqs. Reqs is pretty low, 040 with 33 mhz will enought, but one think can annoing someone: warp3d gfx card. So, it mean users with voodoo cards, b/cvision, users on a1 with voodoo/radeons, user on pegasos with voodoo and radeons, and winuae users (!) with QurkTex (warp3d wrapper) - only this users can enjoy the magazine.

E-magazine itself in 640x480x32bit mode. it mean hi-color graphics art, fast scrolling of articles, nice fading effects, and so on. Personally, i am in interest to made a AGA support, but with HAM8 640x512 screens, but .. not for first number, and not without any helps with AGA coding.

One of interesting features of the mag - ahi mixing. i do not remember any amiga diskmag, which can plays modules and at the same time do 'clicks' of menu and so on. of course it's not only one feature, but i think it's interesting.

Well, diskmag was planned to release right after breakpoint party, but as always it take a bit more time. And it's THE TIME for support somethink on almost dead amiga scene. All who have nostalgy thinks, who annoing about 'low quality' amiga stuff can support us. Do it right now , or die ! :)

So. How you can support us ? all stuff are welcome. gfx, music, articles, ideas, design, just all will be good. At this moment we already have engine, all music and gfx for first number, but any new pretty ACTIVE member will be help us of course.

Right now, we try found some sceneres who can do good ascii, and anyone who in interest to write article (or two;) ) by amiga-scene/amiga-coding releated concept

In any case, if someone in interest about ANY HELP. just write to me at kas1e@yandex.ru , and with your help we can release it ASAP.

If you can draw good gfx - write to us. If you can do only 'photoshop' like work - write to us anyway. If you can't do anythink - write to us anyway, and we can said what you can do to help us.

So, for first post i think it enought, an .. thanks for time :) and sorry for bad english.

Hey Kas,

Thanks for the post. Your mag sounds an interesting project and it's good to see someone else passionate enough to keep the diskmag scene going.

We have gfx and ascii guys in here so any additional stuff you need we can maybe help out. Although most of us aren't exactly ACTIVE by any means. ;)

At least 99.9% of users in here use Amiga emulation via WinUAE and no-one (that I'm aware of) uses an Amiga for viewing Amiga productions. I don't think you'll find anyone here who follows the Amiga scene, as such, so i doubt anyone could write any Amiga scene related articles for you?

Do you have a url for your group/diskmag prouduction we can check out?

It's not so big problem, if someone will do somethink not for 2-3 days, but 1-2 week. I understand of course, that all have jobs, wifes/girls, chiling , drinking and so on, and in this fact it's not so matter to found 'crazy-activity'. But of course, make a somethink easy/little for 2-3 mounth it's pretty suck and unreal for 'always in waiting' state.

I am only glad to see that here is not so much rare freaks who will said 'only AGA can be possbile and so on' :)

What about amiga scene related articles, it's not mean 'deeply amiga scene concept', here is 'scene' mean not only 'demoscene' , but amiga scene itself :) for example these thinks will pretty good:

-party reports where was be one or more amiga prod (breakpoing and gathering at this moment i think).

-somekind of articles about amiga demos and diskmags (from very old (esc/aga), to the modern (warp3d/060/a1/pegasos).

-articles about amiga hardware (classic/newage)

-articles about amiga software (classic/newage)

and so on, if someone will be in interest, i can made a really big index of ideas for articles.

What about coding amiga articles, here is can be just all. assembler, c, hardcore coding, system friendly coding, some ideas about coding, tricks, algos, just all will be good.

For example, if someone have somethink for article, but do not have too much time, he can send 'raw data' for us, and said, which article he was wanted to write and we try to do it itself base on this 'raw data',

Here is a little part of engine , to show how article can be looks like (i do not show full picture, becouse want to do a little surprise to all and a bit 'fire' interest):

Of course text is pretty mess (without good border canvas), but i was make it as fast example. And of course pictures here only for test.

Between us we have enough collective experience to cover Amiga hardware and retro demoscene related articles no problem, afterall, we are lovers of the oldskool scene! :)
I can't promise anything at this stage as I'm currently working on ascii for our next issue of Oldskool News, so that's taking a fair chunk of my spare time at the mo but I'll try and recruit some input for you.

Your sample screenshots look good and pagewise the looks are in comparison to other polished PC mags.

Where else have tried recruiting for this project? I take it you've tried the likes of EAB and the AFB mailing list etc?

on eab still no, but what is afb ?

DaZZaBoY - May 12, 2006 09:50 AM (GMT)
AFB is the Amiga Format Bulletin mail list (remember this anyone?)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/afb/

V.quiet nowadays but still has about 800+ members fixed in, so could be another outlet for recruiting?

kas1e - May 12, 2006 10:40 AM (GMT)
I post message on eab, but can't load afb page. Maybe some problems with my isp.
DaZZaBoY, if you have some free minuts, can you post my first message from this thread to AFB ?

DaZZaBoY - May 12, 2006 12:00 PM (GMT)
Yeah sure m8 - posting now.

DaZZaBoY - May 13, 2006 01:21 PM (GMT)

DaZZaBoY - May 17, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
Got it now m8.

Will have a look thru it and mail you back.

DaZZaBoY - May 31, 2006 07:38 PM (GMT)
Ok Kas,

Mmm... I've had a go at trying to decipher the article you sent from the Polish guy but I'm afraid most of it makes no sense to me at all? I can reword about half of it but most of the translation is a bit of a mystery and I'm not sure where to start to be honest.

I'll do what I can and get it back to you.
