Description: Go on then, I'll be first :)

Oh lordy, it's been a while since I've written a greets thing - last time I did this was for The Word #19 or something along those lines.
So yeah, 'tis I, the guy responsible for Bodyshop and The Word mainly, but I also wrote a couple of Lottery programs - all in that most l33t of languages, AMOS. it's amazing what you can achieve if you poke about in the screen structure long enough.
So.. uh.. greetz to all who know me I guess :)

No idea - he was a productive bugger and then he kinda vanished. Probably running some far-off country by now, via the power of AMOS.

It's talking about The Word and ex-NFA members that's making me want to get my AGA Experience collection out again :D
Sure i've still got vols 1,2 & 3 here somewhere.

Welcome Freak/NFA!
i was just about going out of the scene as NFA were comming in m8! i remeber some of the bodyshops etc but had lost my interest for the the scene by this time. Amiga went tits up big time and Even the A1200 wasn't enough to save it!

I think it was trhe Rise of the (PC) Machines that did it for the Amiga - Quake came out and you could see how effortless a 3D shooter should be. Bear in mind we were all getting excited over Alien Breed 3D (chug chug chug) - while Quake was rocking along, pissing all over it.
I'm actually embarrassed about the Bodyshop things these days, since the early ones were really just a few pics on a disk with a bit of script. Later on I tried to disguise this by creating a front-end in AMOS which called that tiny GIF viewer (ZGif?) from RAM.
I think I did really well with The Word as well, despite the fact it was all done in AMOS and the articles were essentially Grapevine Rejects - haha! Reminds me of that Offspring song "You know you can always go on Ricki Lake" - that was basically The Word. We'd publish anything!

If my old rusty diskmag memory serves me well, didn't you do an article about this in THE WORD? QUAKE - Death of the Amiga or summat similar?
sarek2k - May 3, 2005 11:38 PM (GMT)
Of course Pc's were already making it big before Quake ie the daddy of them all Doom! i saw that and was gobsmacked it was in REAL 3d of course the A1200 was never as intresting again after seeing doom! (ok it was blocky but nothing compared to Alien Breed 3d / Gloom etc)
my very first words to my friend who had a pc at the time who showed me games like Xwing, Theme Park and others were! god it's blocky isn't it!
Funny how things come full circle tho i now hate any FPS game, done it, bought the t-shirt yawn the same for RTS games too! gimmie a good old game of megalomania any day of the week!

I loved the variety mag scene!
I still can't understand why these hardcore tithead demosceners begrudge writing about 'life stuff'?
Maybe it's because they don't have one.

I was never that impressed with Doom or Wolfenstein when they were out, because the environments were not that immersive. Alien Breed 3D excelled at this but for me, Quake was the first to put it all together into a solid package.
Occasionally a new game will come out on the PC, and in that couple of days between placing an order and actually receiving the game, Bootblock and myself will play... Quake. How perverted is that?

Hi Dick,
Long time no hear. Last time we communicated you were living in a flat in Cleethorpes and doing web design. What are you up to these days? Still in touch with Phil<insert year> ?
Kei
Freak^NFA - April 25, 2006 01:18 PM (GMT)
Holy cow, it's Mr. Dave! Haven't seen you for.. well a long time. Have you still got the straggly beard? :)
Kei - May 8, 2006 09:04 PM (GMT)
Hiya matey,
No I don't have the scraggly beard anymore I'm afraid. I'm a professional these days so I gotta look all neat and tidy. B)
So how have you been?
Kei
Freak^NFA - May 15, 2006 08:07 PM (GMT)
Busy busy - doing website design full time and, uh, slowly craling out of debt, sadly. It doesn't help matters when I spend huge wads of cash on stuff either. Must stop doing that.
