Title: Greets from Devon
Description: Just another plain hello

Zeb - January 25, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
Hi all.

Zeb here, went by the fuller version of my name "Zebedee" years ago.

A few names are familiar :D

EDIT: Forgot to add my Amiga downloads site just for those who haven't yet seen it,
http://www.pictureinthesky.net

The domain name I know has nothing to do with Amiga (although a little imagination could change that) as it was originally intended to be a haven for my photography.

Hey Zeb, welcome to the forum.

Feel free to explore every dark corner here and enjoy catching up with your old pals.

Oh yeah.. just signed yer guestbook. :)

Zeb - January 25, 2008 07:45 PM (GMT)
Oh, if anyone in the UK is able to attend, I help out with Sundown.

http://www.sundowndemoparty.org

The next event will be held this year in November here in Devon.

Thanks :D

I can't access my site right now as I've just set up a wireless PC upstairs and as Windows is updating itself with the automatic updates stuff, it's eating sooooo much bandwidth that I can't access any site I've not already got open in my browser so I daren't close any of these windows!

Not sure if most people on here would attend Sundown, Zeb as we didn't exactly hit it off with some of the other 'names' behind it. RC55 was on here for a while and we had an interesting thread going (to say the least) but he turned into a trolling bitch on Bitfella's, which resulted in me bouncing everyone involved with the 'UK scene' outta here.

Still, I was never one to hold grudges. :)

Good to see the only UK party still going strong. How is the overall attendance/interest these days?

Zeb - January 25, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
It's not too bad considering it's the UK and the fact that it's hidden in the corner down here. To be honest I'm surprised we have some international visitors and each year more and more people attend.

The whole atmosphere is great and its 3 days of the year I really enjoy.

Such a shame that earlier relations went a bit sour, not sure what happened there and probably best I don't find out :P

Seems I can't escape a very familiar scenario which I often find myself in. I get on with almost anyone and as I know so many, when people fall out I often find myself stuck in the middle refusing to take a side.

To me, I've had so much fun watching demos, playing games cracked by sceners, trading with sceners and whatever else I got up to that I choose to ignore all the crap that comes when people fall out and carry on with things.

Yeah, it's all part of life I suppose but your's is a good way of looking at the situation. Personally, I don't usually fire until fired upon, that's when the shit hits the fan. :D

I did actually put the Sundown 2k7 results on here in our scene area but I never actually got around to checking out any of the prods.. doh!

Zeb - January 25, 2008 11:00 PM (GMT)
The prods were amazing but maybe it could be something to do with the atmosphere as well?

Being sat there with the prods being shown on a massive screen helps give them something extra that you wouldn't get watching them on a small screen. What I can't understand, is how everyone at pouet can add a comment that 95% of the time slags everything off. Loads of talent goes into making those things.

DaZZaBoY - January 25, 2008 11:13 PM (GMT)
@Zeb:

As you make your way around the forum, you'll no doubt come across various Pouet bashing references from ourselves and the negativity aspect of it all is something we can't understand either. ??

As you say, there's a lot of time and effort goes into these various productions and for people to slam them without mercy, is just plain nuts IMHO. I've seen so many times, people getting pissed off with negative remarks and in return, completely losing interest and giving up being productive.

Constructiveness = YES... Abusiveness and/or band wagon jumping = NO

Zeb - January 25, 2008 11:16 PM (GMT)
Couldn't agree more.

I took my camera equipment along with me to the last one and took a load of photos. Couple of TRSi members asked me for them and the next thing I know they've been used in a slideshow.

Just because the scrolly wasn't up to scratch the thing got slated.

Hi Zeb and welcome. :)

Had a quick look at your Amiga downloads site. Nice little site with some nice download content.

sarek2k - January 26, 2008 05:40 AM (GMT)
@Zeb (welcome btw ;)) & Dazzaboy :

Thats exactly why i refuse to do GFX anymore for anything scene related because of those sites like pouet & intro inferno it's not the fault of the sites (or the people that run them) but some of the dick heads that frequent them!

i will do gfx for indy non group related stuff like osuk/abay/eab etc but nothing that is gonna get bashed on the sites listed above!

I did try, i did several logo's for shockwave and various other people/productions but most of my work was slagged off basicly cause it wasn't pixeld and because you could read what the logo said!

How many times have we seen a logo (including ANSI text) that couldn't be read easily if at all!

Thanks guys for the welcome, already made a few posts, feel I'm setting in quite well :D

Thanks! I made that using Personal Paint (PPaint) on my Amiga 1200 around 1996. I still have the original ILBM stashed away safely somewhere. Never thought back then when I made it that it's be used as the main logo on a website. Hell, didn't even think I'd have a website of my own back then.

Then using IrfanView and Photoshop I made the small favicon as well as well as those four miggy-ticked "made using" boxes under the menu.

The text on those "made by" icons was from a TrueType font I made which was based on the mode 7 font (aka Teletext) on the BBC Mode B.

I have to admit in the past when I did an ascii logo if it looked a bit too readable I did used to obscure or fuck it up a little to make it look "cooler". :)

I might attend Sundown one day and bring some of my ubiquitous friends whith me..
Greets.

DaZZaBoY - February 3, 2008 01:26 PM (GMT)
@Zeb: Gonna try and get our links area updated this week (famous last words) and wondered if you fancy a link swap between our sites?

Zeb - February 4, 2008 12:39 PM (GMT)
Sure if you point me in the right direction - I need to update the links section really as I've not done it for a long time.

rc55_make_demos_not_war - February 11, 2008 12:31 AM (GMT)
If anyone pays Pouet.net too much attention they'll get sick of the demoscene. It's really an annoying place to be and even the admins' suffer in their roles. Only just lately have they implemented some sort of moderation due to real gross out stuff being posted.

There will always be trolls there, and often you'll always see fucking rediculous shit there. It certainly is no reflection on what the REAL demoscene is about, which is what you can find at any demo party. It's just about beers, technology and a major focus on socializing.

I sometimes some of you guys would just come along to Breakpoint and see it for yourself. You'll see that Pouet is just miles away from the reality of what the Scene is.

If I cared what the vocal trolls on Pouet said, I wouldn't carry on. But you can do either one of two things, firstly you could round up your friends to back you up on an issue, or you could just plain ignore it WITHOUT talking about it.

Do not feed the trolls.
