Hi guys,

First of all, what a wicked board! .Been looking for something like this for years!.

A little about myself, well i first got my amiga A500 way back in 1988 - after a while i upgraded to CDTV - A600 - Then A1200. I found my way into the scene after reading Deadlock disk mag, a couple of months later i joined Dimension X ( Later became Narcosis ), joined as an ASCII artist and swapper. After meeting loads of fellow sceners i brought my first modem 2400bps and discovered the beauty of the baud!. Soon becoming addicted to that i purchased a brand new USRobotics 14.4 Sportster.
Spent far to much time then as a modem trader but met some fantatsic people.

So im searching for some of my old scene friends if anyone can help me?

Data-Stream / Skid-Row
Zandor / Skid-Row
Gradius / Anthrox
Hydra / LSD
SLiPMAT
Minsteral - US BBS sysop ( I 4get the board name - Sorry dewd )
Anf - Sysop Northern Exposure BBS U.K
Danger Mouse / Dennis T - Sysop & Co-Sysop TO\/\/ER BBS U.K
Cobra / Maniacs
R9 - Narcosis
Neotronic - Narcosis
Motive - Narcosis
Meeko - Urban XTC BBS U.K

I really would like to hear from you guys. I seen Gradius about 4 years ago in TESCO, but have not seen or heard from him since. Also one of my best friends in
the scene PyRoMaNiAc / Skid-Row has also lost his way, and i doubt anyone from the scene will ever see him or hear from him again as he has lost his health and mind - Only a couple of years left in him now. I spent loads of my time on US BBS`s also callin mainly at Masterbation Station, The HOLE, Beyond Akira, and many more.

I see Craig is also a visitor here ( Violator, from Washington tyne Wear ) Hi craig! Still got that sticker you sent me saying " APOCOLYPSE - You have been phreaked and phucked by Violater " hehe What ever happened to Cryton??

I also see that D-Man from Combat18 and editor of LAMER NEWS has his own myspace page! Check him out on Google.

The scene died for me in 1997 just after i shut down the SWAT UKHQ BBS - Internet killed off all callers, shame really. I feel the scene back in 1992 was the only place i really felt at home, and im sure most of you guys here miss the golden age. Still nice to be able to come here and try and find out where everyone has been

Right im off to bed now, bloody work in the morning

Hey m8!

Nice to see another oldskooler round these parts and cheers for the intro. ;)

Personally, I was in and out of the Amiga scene during mid - late 90's, so there's only a handful of names that are familiar from your list. I'm sure some of the other members will be able to point you in the right direction though - best of luck. Sure Craig will pick you up shortly too... :)

/ snip! - I've cut the piece I typed here regarding someone you mentioned in your post and PM'ed it directly to you. Just wanted to put you in the picture but I don't want to dig up o-l-d arguments in here.

I occasionally try Telnetting for BBS'es just for that ANSI rush but it's only a more again than now thing these days. We also have a wealth of old Amiga stuffz in .exe and in .dms/.zip for use under WinUAE, shout up if you need anything.

Welcome to oS-uK and enjoy!

I remember Anf from a long time ago. I always remember (for some strange reason) something he said to me once when we were having a chat in person (he lived nearby).

"What's with p0rn? After you've seen 100 pictures you've seen them all"

For some reason I felt the need to test that theory. ;)

OMG! USA?! How? I still have the letters you sent to me when we were disk swapping!!

I myself am still living in the same town. Still working in construction, married & divorced lol, and due to get married again in 2 weeks time. I have 2 boys now, and spend almost all my time working out the gym ( Sad! ).

After being taken to court for that computer missuse charge back in 95, i quit the scene and sold my comps.. Then 2 years later realised i missed the scene far two much and opened my own 3 node BBS. But on a peecee ( Yuk! ). I ran PC Express /X clone and made it look just like the original /X BBS. Ran that for a year, joined SWAT and was the UKHQ for a while but closed it down due to hardly no callers in the last 3 months of being open. Only other sysops used to call then leechin /X style doors from me.

Left the scene again, but come back 3 years later, ran a small ftp site for a couple of months, then i just leeched warez and chatted on IRC to old and new scene groups. Played online games. Formed an CSS clan in 2005, won some cups, retired from that in xmas 06 - Gave the clan a web site / forum / and game servers - only for them to screw it all up in 3 months and shut the clan down!.

As for Gradius / Anthrox the bloke who was busted with me, he also got a 2 year conditional discharge and Ł500 fine. He spent his time back at college studying programming and ended up with a job for Psion, a couple of years ago i seen him back down here and he was just starting a new job again - No longer in the scene but stayed in touch with ATX for a while. Have not seen him since then ( 4 Years ago ).

Pyromaniac / Skid-Row quit the scene when calling cards got really dodgy, sold his modem and amiga, couple of years later he got a peecee and was torrenting - However this was nothing what it used to be, and fell in with the wrong crowd - Started using heroin and now has lost limbs, robs people - Terrible state really. When i remember how much he was into the scene, and was one of the best modem couriers i knew, so sad now..

I dont hear from anyone these days now. Thats why im here - Trying to find all the old sceners one more time

The last guy I had contact with from that list was Data Stream. I did an article with him around 1999. (topic was about the fading BBS/Telnet scene) :)

Good luck in catching up with any of them and welcome to the board!

I still have his landline number here, but it was from 94 so i doubt its still working now. Would be nice to catch up with any of these odl sceners though. If this stays up - one of them may google it hopefully!

Yeah I`m kinda hoping a few old friends will appear here! I guess I`m of these people who say "the scene was much better back then" :) .. and I would say - as was the friendships!
