Title: Online PC Games
Description: what do you recommend?

retrohelix - January 8, 2008 03:30 PM (GMT)
I would like to make a list of online games that you guys recommend, I've been playing RF Online for about a month and I like it, I was never fond of this kind of games but I just can't stop it now........... :coverears

What do you recommend?

LilBitEvil - January 8, 2008 03:36 PM (GMT)
Well i havent touched Wow in a long time. Starcraft used to be my baby, and Bizzard is fucking with me over Starcraft 2.

I'm going to recommend Stargate Worlds for now. It isn't out yet, but when it does come out it should be pretty big and you can get in on the ground floor with the game instead of always playing catchup.

Hellstorm - January 8, 2008 04:35 PM (GMT)
Guild Wars is amazing. Much better than WoW. Plus, it's free. No monthly fees.

Final Fantasy XI I think is not bad from what I've heard.

LilBitEvil - January 8, 2008 04:42 PM (GMT)
I played FF11 when it first came out. Played for 4 hardcore months. I found the games lack of solo play to be very bothersome. From my understanding the game has improved some, but it I walked away pissed off.

Hellstorm - January 8, 2008 04:50 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't know, I've actually never played it before. It should have improved by now, though, but it can't have sucked as bad as Anarchy Online or Maple Story.

LilBitEvil - January 9, 2008 11:32 PM (GMT)
well when it first came out, you spent all day trying to get a party together(because playing solo is suicide) and the party would last less than 5 min.

The cool part of the game is the duel job option. I played as a Ranger/Ninja, or Ranger/Samuri or Ranger/Warrior. I didn't have to worry about building hate because I did so much damage the fight was over quickly. But I eventually became so tired of the games tediousness that I gave my shit away and quit.

Hellstorm - January 10, 2008 06:58 AM (GMT)
Well I don't play it myself, but I play it sometimes when I'm at a friend's house. The thing I like most about it is that you don't need to look for human players to join you, you can add bots. The fact that you need support from other humans in a game seems dumb to me, I can play other games on my own perfectly, I should be fine here. Not some fucking 40-man dungeon raid to slay the dragon with epic win tactics. Fuck that shit.

Funnay.

These games just try to bring a twist, with co-operation.

Retro: Is that game of yours an MMORPG?
Cuz I've been looking for a good free one....

Yeah, it's one of those and free to play, I still don't get why they say it's "free to play", sounds kinda fishy but I've been playing it for a while and it's cool :D

Well, it's retarded. Bots ftw.

By the way, you can't play MMOs over here. They're all blocked by the firewall. I know. I've tried.

Gambitmo - January 10, 2008 03:45 PM (GMT)
WOW!

Hellstorm - January 10, 2008 04:12 PM (GMT)
That's one of the exceptions because so many people play it, so they've unblocked that. Same goes for Counter-Strike, etc.

ElBatto - January 10, 2008 10:31 PM (GMT)
Although Hellstorm always has a bitch fit when it is mentioned I would Recommend WoW. It's a large immersive world. Plenty to do. Good for soling and group. It's a fun game.

Natural Selection the Half Life Mod was always fun to if you want to take a look at that. It's online only. Alien Vs Marine. I dno if the one for Half Life 2 has been released yet because I haven't been following it. I would say it probably has but if not the original is great fun if you don't mind Half Life 1 graphics.
Marines upgrade to armor and better weapons and such where as aliens evolve into different aliens or receive stronger defense or abilities.

Just looking at the site Natural Selection 2 is in development.

Hellstorm - January 11, 2008 11:51 AM (GMT)
It's true, I do throw a bitch fit every time you mention the game, and I do say I'm compelled to do it again.

I won't do that, instead I'll just say I definitely do not recommend WoW as a game to play. Fair and simple.

Gambitmo - January 11, 2008 10:23 PM (GMT)
It is extremely expensive and I don't think it's worth the money.

There you go.

Hellstorm - January 12, 2008 09:29 AM (GMT)
That as well. Plus, it takes two hours to walk from city to city, GM support is not very good, and there's too many obsessed people.

Linc - January 13, 2008 11:23 AM (GMT)
I played and got really addicted to Guild Wars for a good few months, I ended up buying all 3 of the games available at the time - Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall. I found it fun, but then I got sick of almost overnight and haven't really played it since. Its a fun game, and free to play online once you have purchased the actual game. The level 20 cap gives me the shits though, once you hit that you feel hindered.

ElBatto - January 13, 2008 11:09 PM (GMT)
A cap of lvl 20 is the stupidest idea. One of the reasons I don't like Guild Wars. I am much happier paying the extra money every couple months for a decent game that constantly updates has a decent level cap and an existing story.

ZL-X - January 14, 2008 05:27 AM (GMT)
I playd City of Heroes. It was pretty fun, my only complaint is that you really don't feel 'super' until about level 14....

I reckon its a stupid idea, the game is a freakin' MMO for gods sake, so its supposed to have a bit of longevity. Level 20 is fairly quickly attainable in that game too, and once you're there you don't feel like you're advancing in the game at all, and thats when it begins to get old. Whats the cap in WoW, like level 100 or something?

ZL, I was going to try that game at one stage, but I was unsure of how well it was received.

Can't wait to get a PS3, I heard there is at least one MMO going to it, so does that mean it will be free to play online like all the other games, or do you reckon they'll whack a charge on it?

ZL-X - January 14, 2008 06:04 AM (GMT)
Linc, it was a good game, I think it was just lost in the mix of the rest of the mmo's that came during that time, including being overshadowed by a couple.

Hellstorm - January 14, 2008 06:58 AM (GMT)
City of Heroes/Villains I know people who've played that, they said it was really fun.

Same thing there, though, monthly fees.

ZL-X - January 14, 2008 07:10 PM (GMT)
yep, monthly fees. not that bad, plus they have 'free pay weekend' things where you can log in for free and play

Hellstorm - January 14, 2008 07:51 PM (GMT)
Those would actually be great for me, since I don't play so much during the week anyway.

WoW's level cap was lvl 60 then when Burning Crusade came out it was increased to lvl 70 and when the new patch Wrath of the Lich King is released which opens up Northrend and brings Arthas back into the game properly and gives you the class Death Knight. The level cap is going to be increased to 80.

The game takes a while to reach 70 at the moment but there is plenty to do once you do hit 70 and plenty of other classes to try out and level.

I am actually disappointed in the return of Arthas in WoW. Not because it's Arthas but because I was hoping more for a Warcraft 4 RTS next. Which went along the lines of 3 and had you play Arthas and such. Then after a few months they could of released a new patch opening Northrend and Arthas for WoW and updating it for after Warcraft 4 but alas that is not the case.

But the Death Knight is gong to be so damned cool.

I wish I hadn't written that >.>

Anyway, Starcraft > Warcraft.
