from IGN.com:

October 1, 2007 - An ongoing lawsuit over the rights to the characters of Superman and Superboy could have a far-reaching impact on Warner Bros.' small and big-screen incarnations of the DC Comics characters.

Movieblog.UGO.com has a great rundown of the case brought against Warners by the widow and daughter of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel, who have sued the studio for 50 percent of the rights for both Superboy and Superman.

The case is mired in thorny legal issues about copyright reclamation but, as UGO points out, "The outcome of this trial will have huge ramifications over the future appearances of the character. It could threaten to derail a Superman sequel. It may even have the power to reshape the JLA movie and future seasons of Smallville or any other Superman/Superboy TV and/or movie projects."

Indeed, none other than Superman Returns director Bryan Singer has reportedly been ordered by the court to give a deposition in the case by no later than November 30th. The case is scheduled to go to trial January 22, 2008.

Am I the only one who thinks that the widow and daughter are just trying to cash in on something? I mean honestly...THEY didn't create him. thier laste husband/father did. Besides the copyright 'reclaimation' O don't know anything about it...but something smells fishy here.

Well that sucks, I guess just about anyone can try to cash in for stuff done by a late family member...............still, it's pretty stupid to do it now, why not 10 years ago?
