BadPixel - February 8, 2007 08:07 PM (GMT)
as long as its not a cliche old game like mario or somthing, at teh moment im just starsing grim fandango. which im told is great for writing and humour. but yeah any age jsut not cliches.

Ignoring your anti-cliché comment, The Legend and Zelda: A Link to the Past / Link's Awakening are so worth it if you never got around to playing them.

Noticing your anti-cliché comment, the Gunstar Heroes for the Sega Genesis and Gunstar Super Heroes games for the Gameboy Advance are both pretty amazing side-scrolling shooter type games.

On the subject of side-scrollers, get the two Oddworld games for the Playstation 1: Abe's Odyssey and Abe's Exodus. I remember playing them back in the day and being in love with them.

Also, going along with Grim Fandango, get Schafer's most recent game: Psychonauts, assuming you haven't already. The innovative levels, beautiful designs, and all were pretty great experiences. The thing is - it's pretty short, so I'd say you should just rent it. That's what I did, and I beat it the morning it was due.

I'm not sure if this is something you'd consider too cliché of a suggestion or not, but Kirby Super Star for the Super Nintendo was also pretty incredible. Should still hold its glory to this day, in my opinion.

And, of course, Battletoads. (Yes, that's some Combat Frogs. Sup /b/? Dumbest meme ever, amirite?) Really cool game that's definitely worth checking out, at least through piracy. There's also another game called Battletoads / Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team, which is good too.

I also am saying Gunstar Heroes is a great side scrolling action game. It's my favorite 'single' game ever.

Another great, yet severly underrated game is Harvest Moon 64, but I guess that's cliched...for me, at least. I think its the first Havest Moon, that didn't entirely revovling around farming. There is tons moe stuff to do, and a ciouple other ways you can earn cash than besides farming, and this Harvest Moon allowed you to date and Marry women.

Diablo II one of the best RPG's of all time and also winner of game of the year naturally it with it's expansion is needed.

Warcraft III and Expansion Frozen Throne. Brilliant RTS with best storyline of any RTS.

Starcraft another great RTS with great story.

Ico for the PS2 was pretty good. I'm not entirely sure what else I can recommend, since you sound very picky...

But X-men Legends 1 and 2 are pretty good. Marvel Ultimate Alliance is also great, it fixes some problems that Legends had in terms of gameplay.

Grandia II is a sweet RPG. Really awesome battle system.

Dont know if this might be cliche for ya, for the Prince of Persia trilogy is pretty good too.

Final Fantasy III for the DS it's good too, if you can stand random battles. FF VI for the GBA, greatest FF in terms of story and level up system ever made.

Metroid Prime Hunters, FPS made right on the DS.

eh--I'll add more later.

thus spoke tim: i do have psychonauts but i got it through steam so its taking me longer to finish, only because i dont play singleplayer games as much as i play online games so i havnt really played it for long. im in the asylum guards mind at the moment, trying to find the milkman, im fighting the demon mum. grim fandango is great but it keeps crashing or having irritating problems mainly with sound. ill run it in compatibility mode and see if that helps.

ZL-X i didnt really like harvest moon i thought it was a bit too i dont know bland or somthing i guess i dont really like farming.

lusvell: ico looks great but i cant seem to find it anywhere it was all over when shadow of the colossus came out (same makers) but now its gon back into hiding. ill ask the guy at my local gamestation to save me one if it comes in pre owned.

that was a lengthy post. i could probably chat on for my country in the olympics if such an event existed.
