Title: What makes anime, anime?

the question is simple. but i dont mean it as a noob question. i hope u know wut i mean when i ask this question but anyways.. wut makes an anime an anime? what makes something like afro samurai diffrent from something like naruto?

The answer is simple, it has to be japanese, anime is just a japanese word they use for animation, the japanese love to use english words any time they can :P
Now, if you ask what's the difference between, let's say, Nick's Avatar and Samurai X, the answer will be the fact that Avatar is made in America, or at least for american tv, even if it looks and feels like anime it isn't.

Plus if you want to get really into differences.....Then you have wierd breeds I like to call "Ameri-me" where shows made in America are blatantly ripping off the style of japanamation, like Teen Titans.
Then you have shows made by japanese companies, yes, but made solely for the american television audience, like Big O season 2, Afro Samurai, or something like IGPX.

Umm, that makes me wonder, Afro Samurai was made in Japan for American "use," it has the looks and the style of regular anime, so I guess that technically it is anime, but I could be wrong.........

"Anime" is just Japanese for "animation". Only weeaboos care about what is and is not anime.

It depends I guess. I cant seem to find the skinny anorexic big eye midget kid fit to "save the world".
In those cases, I usually prefer american cartoons because of it.
Though...I really like Death Note's designs, they are actually pretty accurate and fit.
