This is my first tutorial so bare with me. thanks.

Well have you ever seen pictures that have some color and the rest is black and white? I will show you how to do that kind of photo editing really easily. Enjoy.

Prelude: You want to have the default colors set, Press D to do so.

Step 1: You need to get a stock image. In this case its a picture of a duck i took.

Step 2: Next you need to get the magnetic lasso tool, just right click on the lasso to get 2 more options, and its the one with the little magnet.

Step 3: Select the part of the picture that you want to be in color. In this case i selected the ducks bill. TIP: When selecting something, it is usually best to zoom in so you have a better look at what you are selecting user posted image

Step 4: Go to select>Inverse. Or Shift+Crtl+I This makes everything but the bill selected.

Step 5: Now go to Image>Adjustments>Gradient Map. And select the default black and white. This will turn everything black and white, with the bill still in color.
