The new society the government doesn't want you to see before its too late. Recidivism harms all of America big and small. Prisoner abuse is no longer isolated. Imagine yourself being processed at the loving FEMA camp as a criminal. They laugh and treat you worse than dogs and you are worthless property of the state. Are innocent prisoners sub-human? Are convicted prisoners sub-human? You make the choice and you spread the knowledge. Watch this decide. I'll see you in the FEMA camps.

As bad as this may seem, we are still in the top percentile of "good" prison systems, compared to most countries. Meaning that although the beatings and killings occur, they are generally far less frequent than in most places in the world. It is interesting though that there has been a trend backwards, installing solitary cages in places where there used to be classrooms. Not a very good sign.

I think a part of it really is the financial success of the prison system. When you're making $20 billion and rising, there is a big incentive to influence law to make sure you get more prisoners so that you can keep increasing the profits.

whatever, the corrections(makes most criminals worse) system in this country is extremely messed up, gangs run many prisons, drugs flow in and out of them, rapes and murders occur at higher rates than other countries

You make a good point, it seems the U.S. is obsessed with putting people in prison...

I think China has such a low prison population ratio in part because their prisons are actually more severe. You can even get tortured there for such things as not paying your taxes!
