Geraldo Pulls an Imus
Fox News host slanders protesters as Alex Jones arrested

In a scene reminiscent of Don Imus' infamous pronouncement on the Rutgers women's basketball team, Geraldo Rivero had a meltdown Saturday night after a group of protestors gathered behind a live broadcast of his Fox News "At Large" program. He claimed the protestors were "into restroom gay sex," calling them "activists," "radicals" and a "group of misfits" before shaking his fist and saying he wished he could "get them." Rivero, a tabloid reporter whose claims to fame includes opening an empty vault on live TV and getting his nose broken on a talk show, made his bigoted comments shortly before Alex Jones—the documentary filmmaker behind such popular titles as Terrorstorm and Martial Law 9/11—was arrested on live TV for "operating a sound device without a licence."

Although Rivero's comments showed his hateful, homophobic views, he was right on at least one point: it is in fact illegal to protest in that area of New York without a permit. In fact, the police state is far advanced in New York, with only a concerted effort by concerned citizens able to get the city government to reconsider draconian photography laws that would have made it illegal for citizens and even tourists to film a location for more than 30 minutes without a permit—as if al-Qaeada's dastardly plans would be foiled by such a rule. Ironically enough, Mr. Jones, who was arrested in the protest, was the very one detailing the encroaching police state in New York City in his Martial Law 9/11 film.

Don Imus was fired for his hateful comments. It remains to be seen whether "Fair and Balanced" Fox News will fire Rivero for making similarly hateful pronouncements on those peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights.

The protestors were in New York raising awareness of 9/11 Truth as part of the events leading up to the 9/11/07 Global Day of Action.
