Greetings to everyone on this forum!
I am currently in San'aa, Yemen (in the gulf of the Middle East) teaching EFL, English as a Foreign Language to Arabic speaking students.
One of our units that we covered in the intermediate class that I am teaching deals with controversial issues. I showed Loose Change to the class and asked them to write about their thoughts.
They were very inspired by the film and one volunteered to help in having the film translated into Arabic because he feel that we now have a responsiblility to spread the truth, which I agree!
Many thanks to Kristina in publicity for helping us out with this (the film & the transcript is worth so much to us!). We have a certified translator who is now working on this project, which will also produce the final product once it is translated. We have decided that we will start with subtitles and once we have an initial viewing by Arabic speaking people, decide if we will dub the film.
**I am very excited about this!!!**
mz. malaika,
Ahalan, Salaam, and wow!
absolutely, let's get this thing circling the globe, most importantly in the hands of those perpetrating and suffering from this outrageous lie.
You have my respect and support for teaching, first of all, and for setting foot on a delicate & unstable topic, which is precisely what democracy and free speech are all about - let's get the truth, and act on it. Lead your class, and watch what happens when ppl can freely think, argue, research, change opinions and reach conclusions. You may be changing the world. Thanks!
PS pls fwd the blessings of the ppl of America to your class, if I may be so bold. Apart from the powers currently in office, there are many, many ppl here who neither believe what they're being told about the Middle East nor support our harmful actions there.
