I'm a beginner in trying to play the guitar. Does anyone know the chords to Lauryn's Just Like Water song?

Not really on-topic ( :argh: , it never is with me) but how long have you been playing the guitar? I brought one kind of recently with the idea of teaching myself and for the first week and a bit of having one, i taught myself some chords and scales and stuff, but that was it. Heh, it's tucked away safely in my cupboard atm and hasn't been moved in a few weeks.

Did someone teach you to play or did you teach yourself?

i tried to learn the guitar when i was about12/13...i had a teacher who i hated, plus i didn't like the fact that i had to have long nails on one hand and short on the other! I wish i'd stuck to it tho, cos i would love to be able to create music, but i guess it's never too late.

lol, i had a teacher as well when i was a bit younger.

My mum wanted me to learn an instrument, i attempted guitar first but i was restless and didn't want to be stuck down in a chair with some heavy guitar weighing me down, lol and since i was really small i could barely strech round the guitar <_<.

But yeah, then she got me to play the piano, it's a lot easier (in my opinion anyway) - i can play the piano pretty well, but i haven't practised in a while.

i would buy a guitar, if i wasn't a broke student that is!

So far I've taught myself a little. I'm getting a teacher though. Right now I've tried to watch the unplugged tape and try to see if I can learn any of her songs, but they are hard. Can't learn by just looking. I've made up little tunes to go with the poetry I write.

I've got like, a 3 month gap in between finishing college and starting Uni. I'm going to get a teacher and learn then (as well as doing everything else i've been wanting to do for ages.. like joinning a Gym (that i'll never go to :argh: )

The numbers are for what position your finger should be on the fret. For instance a 799877 chord means:

Lay your index finger across the 7th fret. Lay your pinky and ring on the 9th fret for the A and D string. You middle finger should be on the G at the 8th fret. The B and E strings are touched on the 7th fret by the index finger.

3rd string is the mid D
4th string is the mid G
5th strings is the high B
6th string is the high E, but you will never use the 6th string in this song

pluck them in the order I supply them. If I say 1st, 2, 4th, then pluck the 1st string, 2nd string, and 4th string in that order. That's the basic pluck, of course you will repluck those strings for rhythmic purposes. Also, if it says 2, 3, 5th string, that means pluck the strings in that order. Pay close attention to the video if you have it so you can see the proper rhythmic pattern. Do not deviate: I have tabbed the entire song for you. YOUR GUITAR MUST BE IN STANDARD TUNING.
