Title: How Many Mics at Verizon
Description: Question - Help !

LostOnes - March 8, 2006 04:29 PM (GMT)
Okay, i'm trying to produce a beat and i want to sample Pras saying 'Too many MCs not enough mics' (lol, i like his verse in that song, so much energy).

But yeah, to make it sound smoother i want to download the song that they're rapping over. I've heard it loads of times before but don't know the name of it.

The beat they rap over, after Wyclef gets the DJ to flip it. It's a regagge song.

Help would be appreciated.

Oh and, sunglasses, sunglasses, i'm mentionning sunglasses in a post. :whisle:

Is it 'how many mics' ?

LostOnes - March 9, 2006 09:09 PM (GMT)
lol, nah.

At the Verizon performance when they sing 'How many mics', they start with the original music and then Wyclef gets them to flip it and they rap over some reggae beat.

Its the "Answer" riddim

Elephant Man had a song over it called "Anthem" and Half Pint did one called "She's Fever"

Its an old riddim but they re-did it in 200, Lauryn used it on rhe Miseducation tour

Hope this helps

Jon

Cool, cool Jon.

I'm going to check those songs out later to see if it's the beat i'm after.

Thanks.

it's definitely the right riddim, and i've just remembered where i know it from, it's a drum and bass track...they used a faster version of it...now i just need to remember the track!

I have another question : just before they start "How many mics", the part where wyclef goes "I came to get down, I came to get down" , "Jump jump jump, everybody jump" . Is the beat original or it's a sample from someone else's song ?
Louise ? ;)

Louise - March 20, 2006 03:41 PM (GMT)
hehe i'll go listen and see if i can work it out

Louise - March 20, 2006 03:46 PM (GMT)
that's the Kriss Kross track... 'Jump Jump', he's covering it, the lyrics are from it as well....don't u remember them? they were these two little kids who used to wear their clothes backwards, and were signed to Columbia at the same time as the Fugees.
I can post the track if ur interested.

Louise - March 20, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
