there is nothing about new album of her.... or am i blind....?
invisible man - January 8, 2006 09:18 PM (GMT)
Hmmmm, I'm a little bit disappointed about the interview. The journalist had the chance to interview Lauryn Hill, but she didn't took her chance to show us what we can expect from lauryn hill now. She aksed her some questions, and lauryn answered things that we already knew. Sometimes a journalist has to go a little deeper. I would have liked some questions about her behaviour (like this "Don't look at me" and "don't spek to me").
There was also nothing about lauryns new music, no question abou that!
<_<
I'm happy to hear something about L and I love the pictures, but the journalist didn't make such a great interview.
PEACE

sybillecutey - January 8, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
whooo, nice pics !!!! :bounce:
I'm also a little disappointed by the interview. She didn't talk about her album, neither did she talk about the fugees album. Why are they being so secretive ??? :(
Stine - January 8, 2006 10:36 PM (GMT)
Yeah I'm disappointed aswell. The interviewer could've asked some more interesting questions - They talk about how she has changed, but she doesn't say anything about how this change will be reflected in her music. And the title annoys me! "They call me Ms. Hill" erm yeah, that's because you refuse to respond to any other name
Btw, read some people's comments to the pics here:

Look what I just found, lol! :D
Hania - January 9, 2006 11:15 AM (GMT)
I think interviewer didn't ask so many interesting questions 'cos Lauryn hill wouldn't answer them.
Interviews like that (especially for colour press) are always "written" by the interviewee.

LookingForTheTruth - January 9, 2006 11:33 AM (GMT)
she isn't as strong as we can think , guys
i read the interview this night lol
she is great but she needs help - as we can see - but music will save her
look what she writes
"...now I'm like --I don't like to be touched/Get off me" I didn't always have the strenth to do that (i was shocked here - It seems like - she is tired of life or something coz when u create music with love u want to give love to others ...anyone) "it's especially hard when u have the desire to BE LIKED AND MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY"
but the same time she says
"LOVE IS MY FOOD, THUTH IS MY OXYGEN"
It looks like she is a lil lost - she also speaks about faith - that it can help when u suspect and don't know..
She needs love and feels moral unsutisfied - but as i already said - music treats - if she comes back to music and devotes herself to music and love - she will come back!!! will finally became wiser (not blind)
It's the first time i write something reading only the interview (not reviews or something lol) It's just my thoughts - tell me what u think
LookingForTheTruth - January 9, 2006 11:39 AM (GMT)
hay guys - do u think that L said those last 2-3 phrasees that - she is a WISE woman... coz it seems too stupid and simple for her...as far as i feel...mabye it's an interviewer's work?!!

"I've always been wine beyond my years. I've always been a teacher/ When I was a child i was teaching adults because I was always learning/ I'm Ms Hill because I know I am a wise woman
That is the respect I deserve"
But
I feel a great power in her- she has to grow more

I truly doubt the interviewer would wrote anything without L's authorization

I wonder if Lauryn isn't tired of always talking about the same spiritual stuff. I mean, I know about her relation to god and that she's been hurt etc....
Maybe noone asks her normal questions like "How are you?" or "Do your kids do well in school?"
She sees herself as a normal human being, but none treats her like that, for me it would be very frustrating if people would always treat me like a prophet.

I think she does all she can to put herself into that position - esp. lately :o
DOES ANYONE know where to get this magazin in Europe?? Ive never seen the ESSENCE magazine... let me knwo. Id like to have a copy so... if you see it, buy one for me too!
lboogie - January 9, 2006 02:05 PM (GMT)
I don't have read the inteview yet...I saved it 'cause I can read it well, and with calm....but I have to say, that the pics are great!!!!.......I thought that she'd never dressed again with short skirts <_< ...she's really beautiful! :whisle:
Alva - January 9, 2006 04:03 PM (GMT)
Thank you!! The pics were fantastic, and the interview was ok, at least this time she didn't talk much about God...but of course I would like to know more about the new album...but at least the Fugees were recording... I think that Ms. Hill wants to be seen like that and talk about those things invisible man, if someone would ask her a "normal" question I think she would still start to talk about these things, like "I am love" and "people close to me didn't want to see me as who I am" and stuff like that.
But thanks a lot, too bad we couldn't see the first words in one of the pages, but hopefully when someone gets it they can scan that page better or something

i agree, she is changing. it seems shes becomming less spiritual and more worldly. i SWEAR i rememember reading (tho i dont know where) that she would never perform any songs from the miseducation. and also how she said she doesnt care what she dresses like in unplugged but she was late for the concert because she couldnt firure out wot 2 wear. it seems her words always contradict themselves

I think she's just constantly growing, like all of us. Unplugged was years ago and like she said in Trace, it was a period of time where she was learning a lot - So it's just natural that she has changed since back then. And actually I don't think she's changed that much, cause when she said that she didn't care what she looked like and that she didn't want to dress up anymore, I think she just meant that she didn't want to live up to ppl's expectations and the public persona that she had created. And I don't think that's contradictional to what she does today, not at all actually.
She was just a being little dramatic around the Unplugged period, because she realised a lot of things about her career and the industry. It's like when you break up with somebody and you tell 'em "I never ever wanna see you again!" and then after awhile you start seeing each other again. I think that's why she said she did not want to play tracks from MisEd again - And then did it anyways later on.
Invisible, I think the interviewer is told beforehand what he/she is allowed to ask about and what the subject of the interview should be etc. But I agree, it would be nice with some more casual stuff... Or at least just some more info about the music.
invisible man - January 10, 2006 01:04 PM (GMT)
I'm not stupid, I know that journalists get instructions by artists most of the time, but every good journalist has the chance to turn a conversation into sth. something interesting ;)
For example the Trce article: The journalist who made that article was even shocked by lauryn hill, but she found a way to tell us a really interesting story about a woman who struggles with herself. And I think that there many things in that article that lauryn hill worldn't have said if the journalist wasn't that sensitive and careful.

I read the interview, and well it's a great interview,I mean it's much about Lauryn.....and that's true she doesn't want to be touched but she explains why..she's not a Diva as a lot of people say in these days....and I don't know if you get it,but there's the reason why she broke with Ro if you read through the line and understand what she's saying...he's a lier!!

it's like wondering if the pope is tired to talk about god!!!!......it's inside of her,she talks about what she feels...probably journalists ask her about her children and her health, but it's not something that now they want to put in an interview..it's something private I think!

P.S. and L-boogie - why do u think she doesn't want to be touched? coz i found it really stupid what she said - it's especially hard when u have the desire to BE LIKED AND MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY - mabye i haven't noticed something?

what part ?
LookingForTheTruth - January 10, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
nonono! i didn't mean that the interview isn't full
i just wanted l-boogie to explain me "HOW" she had understood that L didn't like people to touch her... coz i didn't see the logic...
sybillecutey - January 10, 2006 06:59 PM (GMT)
But she (Lboogie) also said that she's referring to rohan " between the lines". I'd like to know where, cus I can't find it.
LookingForTheTruth - January 10, 2006 07:24 PM (GMT)
i think she was talkin' about this 1
" love is my food, truth is my oxygen. I need those things I am sure there have been times i tried to deny myself love by staying in someting safe and convenient....and then she says that she has all right for peace, joy and oxygen (love)
peace
sybillecutey - January 10, 2006 09:19 PM (GMT)
Ok, but I don't like it how she said that when that woman started touching her at that store, she told her " I don't like people touching me , get off me!" (non verbatim), this is just plain rude ! I mean, ok, u have issues with people touching u , but there's a way to put it nicely ! I feel like ms Hill has lost her manners. <_<
LookingForTheTruth - January 10, 2006 09:35 PM (GMT)
after she said this - it's especially hard when u have the desire to BE LIKED AND MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY"
I understood that she's lost
the same time she admits that she needs love and says that has all rights for love and sitisfaction like she is hurt and trying to find a way to understand things and her own feelings
just read again - it's especially hard when u have the desire to BE LIKED AND MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY//// if u say that - that means u don't like PEOPLE AROUND U!!! that means u are far of peace at the moment.
here every of us can see how weak we are...every of us... everybody needs moral support - even the strongest man
P.S. Am I the only one who find thtis sentence strange (it's especially hard when u have the desire to BE LIKED AND MAKE EVERYONE HAPPY) and conradicting with this one (love is my food truth is my oxygen I need those things)
coz she doesn't look egoistic to me (who tekes love and don't give it back - coz we all can see the power on her performances and her joy
I just think she is lost right now - that's the only reason i think
sybillecutey - January 10, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
I don't find that sentence bizarre. She said that that desire to be liked and make everyone happy was 5 years ago. Now her main focus is not to please people. And I understand that very well. The only problem is, just because u don't wanna be a doormat or whatever doesn't mean that u have to be rude to people, like asking them to "get off" you, or showing up 3 hrs late at your own show etc...There she has to grow a little bit more.

I don't know, but I can understand her behaviour in that certain situation. She explained that situation as a turning point in her life. I mean it was a moment for her where she recognized that she is a human being and that she needs to be treated like that. You gotta understand that it was not that one woman who tried to touch her, it's everybody. And when you feel that you don't like it when you get touched by strangers and you are always polite and you never have the feeling that you are aware of your human rights, than it is possible that it comes to situations like this. People who are celebrities can have a very comfortable life but there are also dark sides. It was her own decission to stay in the spotlight and I think every celebrity is responsible for a little compromise with the fans, but I caould imagine that it was just too much for her. She was such a mega star after the miseducation. Nobody didn't like her, that sounds great at first, but it could turn out very painful. I would never ever change with her and I still believe that she's a brave woman.
PEACE
