I saw that! It was a golden cross right? lol, I can hear that you're just as amazed by the show as I am. Anyway...
I'm literally lost for words. I won't write a long review this time, because I'm not going to do the concert any justice by describing it with words - And some people are not going to understand anyway. This tiny woman is a profound musical genius and there is nobody out there like her.
She performed for something like 2.5 hours and she was an hour late. The security guy told me, that Lauryn and the band had arrived early in the morning to set up the instruments and then Lauryn wasn't satisfied, so they had to do the whole thing over again. Basically they had been soundchecking the intire day, and so they were late. She performed like 10 Bob Marley songs, a dozen from Miseducation (Including When It Hurts So Bad, which she according to herself hadn't performed in many years), The First Time I Saw Your Face, Sinnerman, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Lose Myself and all the Fugees hits (Incl. Zeaots). She did 5 or 6 encores. After singing Lose Myself with the band, she said "I want you to hear the words, this is what I'm saying..." and then sang first verse of the song acapella while the crowd was completely silent. It was breathtaking.
Marcel I saw you there! After the show. But I was too overwhelmed by the music we had just experienced to say anything. I hope you had a nice spot and enjoyed the show - I can't imagine that you think it was anything less than amazing...
Edit: Tiny pic from last night and a very, very positive review:

Well, my hair is dark brown so I guess you were looking for the wrong person ^_^ I was standing at the front row a bit to the right - What about you? The reviews in the newspapers are pretty bad, they're all talking about her raspy voice and "weird" outfit, except the one in Jyllands Posten that is really positive. But I don't care, the crowd loved her and that's what matters...
You should see how much I'm smiling right now - I'm so glad you enjoyed the show... I was afraid you would come here and be all like "This is the last time I paid to see her live" because then I would really have to think hard and long about whether or not I am just obsessed with her and love everything that she touches.
It was so great last night maaan, I'm gonna have to travel next time to see her if she doesn't come to DK again. Which songs did you enjoy the most? I loved the "marching" part of To Zion when she just kept singing it over and over with the drums... And Lose Myself acapella when she sang "...he never did deserve me no" and the crowd just cheered so loud! I had tears in my eyes at that point. Sinnerman, Heathen, Natty Dread, Hammer, Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow were all amazing.

it was perfect. seriously..
stine it wasn't a gold cross it was like a big black bow at the end of a gold chain.....
i am lost for words

damn, I really thought you got blond hair! ahah, probably just my stupid sterotype of a danish girl... :P
you were front row? wow...
I was so tired that a fell asleep a few hours before the concert... I overslept and arrived at the venue only at 7:15...
I was like 5, or 6th row a bit to the left. At the end of the concerts (for the encores) I was 2nd row...
I dont understand the newspapers... I was actually surprised at how strong her voice was especially in the beginning during "Heathen"... and the acappella songs! However, it might be because I had low expectations regarding her voice.
However, I think the raspyness didnt take away from the performance it was pure energy.
Of course I loved Lose Myself acapella...
and I loved her rapping during Lost Ones and Final Hour...
I loved that part when she was singing "when I say SWWWWWIIIIITCH you guys switch the beat....!" and than the band messed up and she was like "ohhh, I didnt say SWITCH....!!!" nooow, swwwwiiiitch...." lol
I loved that Zion-marching part as well...
I missed that part with the necklace... but, where did she get that danish flag from at the very end of the show?? that was cute...
Did you see how she gave her towel to the guy in the first row (he was standing pretty much in the middle)??! And then she smiled at him intensly.
Before the concert I was also afraid that Id get dissapointed but I think Im a bigger fan now than before...
but seriously, ALL the people at the concert enjoyed it, right?
so we cannot be that wrong (obsessed)! :P
I'm putting up some videos on youtube right now... however, they can hardly reflect what that night was like...
fugees-online - July 20, 2007 10:50 AM (GMT)
I REALLY hope someone recorded LOSE MYSELF acapella...
Did you record any videos

lol, don't say that - I already had tears in my eyes watching that first clip you've put up! I can't wait for the rest!
Yes, front row! Me and my sister were the very first peope who came in when the doors opened... If only I'd seen you before the show then you could have gotten a spot next to us - Next time we have to arrange it better! But judging from the video it seems like your spot was good!
Fuck those newspapers... I can't say I'm not bothered by it, but it's just a bunch of old white (No offense, I'm white myself lol - But you know, they probably only listen to "white" music) men writing these reviews... And her way of performing is probably very different from what they usually listen to, so they just don't get it. They don't understand the greatness of it. It just goes straight over their heads, which is a shame really. The way they don't recognise any of the Marley tunes, and the way they only focuse on her raspy voice and her clothes, just tells that they are totally missing what is really going on on the stage.
I had completely forgotten the SWITCH part! I think that was improvised... And do you also remember during Doo Wop when she leaned over the crowd and said "I'm gonna sing this part to the lovely girl here with the big earrings and then I want all the ladies to sing with me... GIRLS YOU KNOW YOU BETTER..." That was so cool.
The Danish flag... Well, there was a guy standing over at your side just infront of the stage on the other side of the fence (I guess he came from backstage or something, but he was obviously a fan) and he kept waving at her with the flag. Then in the end she picked it up and walked to the other side of the stage (Where I was standing) and gave it to a young black girl who was standing right next to my sister! The girls' reaction was just priceless... She was one huge smile.
Yes I did notice that guy in the middle! She also sang to him sometimes! He was definitely a huge fan, he kept blowing kisses at her and stuff...
No I didn't record any videos...
I am also a bigger fan than before. I had GREAT expectations and wasn't dissappointed at all. She is devine! None can compare to her... none.
