Vera - January 30, 2007 11:40 AM (GMT)
Felipe Reyes and José Antonio Reyes recognised by the Andalusian Sports Writers Association

The captain of the Spanish national basketball team, along with fellow World Champion teammates Berni Rodríguez and Carlos Cabezas, received the Golden Andalusian award. Meanwhile, the Sevillian midfielder was recognised as last season's best Andalusian footballer. Another Madridista footballer, Luis del Sol, received the ‘Historic Champion’ award.

The ceremony organised by the Andalusian Sports Writers Association in collaboration with City Hall of Seville and the Offices of Tourism, Commerce, and Sports was a tremendous success. It took place at the Communication Sciences Building of the University of Seville, located on the Island of Cartuja. Both the Cordoba native Felipe and the Sevillian José Antonio have reasons to be satisfied. Two sports kings who received awards honouring them as such.

The captain of the Real Madrid Basketball team was named ‘Golden Andalusian’ along with Berni Rodríguez and Carlos Cabezas, two of Felipe's teammates from the World Champion Spanish national team. On the other, José Antonio Reyes was honoured as the best Andalusian footballer, which has added value when you take into account who presents it and the competition there is in said category. Luis del Sol, who played for Real Madrid in the 1950's, received the ‘Historic Champion’ award. This was the seventh edition of the annual ceremony, and Real Madrid have been a consistent presence ever since its inception.
