Title: For any La Liga Fans....

Whilst i was on holiday, i managed to catch a Real Mallorca-Deportivo match, me and my friend were wondering what English side they were equivalent to, and if they were any good (the match we saw was a fairly boring 0-0 draw lol). Was quite interesting to go though, can't believe how noisy the "ultras" were, and also how badly all the players dived! :header: :ban:

diving is a part of the Spanish game :D and in terms of what teams Depor & Mallorca are equivalent to we cant say it for sure but if i had to i'd say Depor is in Newcastle category now and Mallorca are relagation fighting team.

Spanish football is little different to English football the teams in the top half are very good & the team in the lower half are rubbish to watch and there is a biiig gap between the upper & the lower half.

Judging by the results Spanish teams have the upper hand over English teams, Spanish champions Barca knocked English champs Chelsea 2 seasons in a row from Champions League and also won against Arsenal in the final & another rising Spanish side Sevilla thrashed Borough 4-0 at Uefa cup final.

I remember in 2001/02 when Mallorca were in the Champions League!. They had Arsenal in their group and they beat us when we were away, but back then we were terrible away from Highbury in the Champions League. I went to the game at Highbury though and we beat them 3-1 if i remember correctly. Deportivo also played us that season in the Champions League that season and beat us 2-0 both times, the 2-0 away defeat wasn't a suprise as Deportivo had a good team and we were poor away from home, but when we lost at home to them we were very suprised because as bad as our away form was, our home form in Europe was excellent. We barely lost. I went to that game at Highbury against Deportivo and i was suprised we lost as we were doing great in the league... although Deportivo were too.

Just seen the La Liga table and Deportivo are 19th :yikes: and Mallorca are 12th... which isn't bad i guess... but Deportivo have gone downhill ever since their great years at the start of the 2000's. They have lost all their good players.

PS. Sorry to bump an old topic.
