About Pires...you have to imagine the situation for him at Arsenal, he goes to work every day and there are so many people around him who can speak French. So in a way there was very little need to adjust.
It is the same for me, I've been living in the Philippines for almost 3 years now and haven't learned their native language at all because everyone speaks to me in English (even if it is broken). So I have not needed to adjust and can go through the day speaking English without much problem! :chop:

i met Pires in 2003 when he had been here for 3 years and he couldn't even say the basic only like hello and thats it. My mum used to live in france and was in an english company so didn't really need to speak english but she bacame practically fluent and that was only a year.....my dad on the other hand

On Arsene Wenger's Magic Hat (01/02 video) Pires won the player of the year or summin like that and i'm sure he said Thank you very much. (he was speaking in english)
