Title: Something i rote bout reyes for my english lesson.
Keenz_Reyes - November 15, 2005 12:26 PM (GMT)
hey u lot... this is something i wanted to post that i rote about rey! it was an assingment on who we think is brave so i chose 2 rite about him!
Jose Antonio Reyes… A brave boy turned brave man…
Football- his passion, his key to success. When this twelve year old, rough looking, stick-thin Sevillian boy arrived at Sevilla, they had no idea that they had chosen the ‘roughest of diamonds’.
Jose Antonio Reyes grew up in the poorest regions of Spain- Seville, the home of Spanish bull fighting, Flamenco dancing and vineyards. With hardly any education (he could barely read, write or speak a word of English), long uncut hair, his behavior being unruly, some wondered why this boy hadn’t gone down the wrong route.
Sevilla transformed this boy into a young man. His body became stronger and he could take on the nasty tackles from the experienced defenders. His attitude undoubtedly improved and one of his colleagues introduced this ‘explorer’ to books.
Tipped by his former coach Joaquin Caparros to be better than Real Madrid’s gifted Raul, even when Reyes broke his toe it did not stop him from playing his sport.
Reyes and his family, ten years ago, lived in a poor Sevillian town where when it rained the house would leak and they had not much money to continue sending the inquisitive boy to school. Little did they know that their son, playing football in the streets until late hours, was their way out…
At the tender age of sixteen, Reyes made his first team debut for Sevilla. A few years after, he caught the eye of several of Europe’s soccer giants- the mighty Arsenal being among them. Reyes had no intention of leaving Spain but Arsenal’s offer tempted him. They paid 10 million for him and before he knew it, he was off to join one of the legends of English football.
In his first season with Arsenal, Reyes helped them to yet other Premiership title and in his next netted five goals in all his first five games. As the winter caught up with his dazzling season, he suffered the biggest blip in form. His girlfriend’s miscarriage left Reyes shattered, and as if that wasn’t enough, she left him and went off to Spain. The young twenty-one year old also lost the person he was second closest to, after his mom, his grandfather. As a result of this bad fortune he became more homesick. Rumors had it that Reyes hated Arsenal and would welcome a move back to Spain. Real Madrid (who previously wanted to sign the Spaniard), took quick action to ‘so-called’ statement and set Reyes up- leaving him as a victim of a Spanish radio hoax.
He was unsettled, homesick and the weather was not at its best, for this Spanish born Galactico. But with the support and faith of his family, the Arsenal manager (Arsene Wenger), Reyes picked himself up and left the past to rot behind him. He scored, assisted and played like the old Reyes back in the Sevilla days- truly this boy was one brave man. Just recently the Spaniard took a big step in his future by extending his contract a further six years which keeps him at the club for a few more fruitful years.
Bravery is often described as the act of displaying or possessing courage. Reyes, for me I think, has definitely shown this to get to where he is in his career at moment. He took risks in his career, and, for me that’s what bravery is all about. He’s only twenty-two and all that he’s been through to get to where he is, is remarkable for a boy who couldn’t even utter a word of English.
SO HOW DU U GUYS LIKE IT? MA TEACHER THOUGHT I WAS A STALKER COZ SHE COUNDLT BELIEVE HOW MUCH I LIKED HIM LOL! SHE ALSO THOUGHT I HAD SEEN HIM... LET ME KNOW WOT U GUYS THINK. :pepsi:
