this is a quote from Kmani's interview in AS.com when asked what he thought of iker casillas, another goalkeeper who is always in fashion

kameni said: He has a sensible head. If he was black he will be something fantastic. He plays in all the matches, captain of the national team and his team RealMadrid. He knows i have great value of him.

then he was asked that:Casillas can't score on you but the forwards of Real Madrid can do it. have you nay fears of them?

kameni said:They are very dangerous......

this is what shuster said when asled about replacing iker with dudek

He's ( DUDEK) the second keeper, and it's hard when one of the best two in the world (IKER) is ours. He will play in some matches, but it's impossible for there to be any competition when you have Casillas in front of you.

Kovacevic: (olympiacos player)

"The Madrid won by Casillas"

"Thanks to the Madrid Casillas has drawn three points. One of the best goalkeepers in the world, has taken a hand when the ball was already inside. We have done a great game with ten. The result would be the fairest draw. I hope we'll do better in Athens and win there. "

Salgado:

"Iker has something very special"

"We did a lot of damage with 2 goals but at least we were able to enjoy the final. The last sack that Iker did was incredible. At the least, it had to have been perfect. HE is a goalkeeper who knows what to do at any given moment and have something very special . We suffer. "

Kovacevic Hails Casillas After Madrid Win

Olympiakos striker Darko Kovacevic has hailed Iker Casillas for his display in Real Madrid's 4-2 Champions League win at the Bernabeu.

Darko Kovacevic knows a thing or two about beating Iker Casillas, having consistently proven to be a thorn in Real Madrid's side during his days with Real Sociedad.

However, the veteran Serb also knows just how capable the Spanish number one is, and was reminded again as the Madrid goalkeeper denied him in injury time.

The visitors refused to bow down despite being reduced to ten men, and in fact took the lead when Julio Cesar made it 2-1. It took a couple of saves from Casillas to keep Los Merengues in it, but the best was to come in the 92nd minute.

With Madrid having come back through Robinho to lead 3-2, he produced a stunning save to preserve his side's lead, eventually helping then run out 4-2 winners.

Speaking to Spanish media after the game, Kovacevic was full of praise.

"Iker Casillas is one of the best goalkeepers in the world," he said. "When I finished, I saw the ball heading in, but he somehow produced a hand to keep it out.

"Thanks to him, Real Madrid have picked up three points."

About his own team's display, he said: "Olympiakos played a good game, especially considering that we were down to ten men. A draw would have been fair, and perhaps a good result to take back home.

"However, there are still many games left, and we will look forward to winning the game against Real Madrid in Athens. I saw a good Olympiakos side, which did not let Madrid settle, did not let them play. When we were down to ten men, we still played well, but did not make the most of our chances."

Aouate Declares Casillas To Be The World's Best Goalkeeper

Deportivo La Coruna 'keeper Dudu Aouate will come face to face with Real Madrid's strikeforce tonight, but he's opted to focus his immediate attention on opposite number Iker Casillas...

Deportivo La Coruna 'keeper Dudu Aouate has commended Iker Casillas as being the world's best goalkeeper.

The former Racing Santander man told Marca, "Casillas is the best goalkeeper in the world.

"He's saving Real Madrid both in the Liga and in the Champions League, and he's having a very good season.

"However, I hope that tomorrow he's a little bit off form, so that we can beat them."

'Super Depor' are in Madrid to face the Merengues at the Bernabeu on Sunday afternoon, with Aouate's men eager to avenge last season's 3-1 loss in the capital, perhaps with half their minds on the 2-0 win at the Riazor that so shocked the Blancos.

However, with a poor defensive record of late, it won't be easy. Aouate feels it's only a matter of time, though, until the good times start rolling in Galicia once more.

"We don't have the necessary consistency yet," he began.

"We've played good matches, but also bad.

"The coach wants us to play football and not just to defend, and this has cost us a bit. We've let in twelve goals, which is a lot in just eight games.

"But at least if we go out on the pitch to play well and to win, then the results will come.

"I'm not afraid of Madrid, but I'm respectful of them. I'm used to them after five years in the Spanish league.

"They have a great squad, a comprehensive one both in attack and defence, and there will certainly be chances. Therefore we must be totally concentrated on the match."

"Against Valencia [a 4-2 home defeat for Depor] last week, the referee helped with the result," he sighed.

"Of course we made mistakes, but the failure of the referee was timely.

"Throughout the world, not just in Spain, referees can act in their favour, but I hope that things are more just [today.]"

Sevilla coach Manolo 'Jimenez' Jimenez professed nothing but respect for Spanish international goalie Iker Casillas, but still insisted that in some ways he'd rather have Andres Palop.

The new boss remarked, "We're letting in more goals this year than last but, with the permission of [Iker] Casillas, I say that the goal of Sevilla is defender by the best goalkeeper in Spain, Andres Palop.

"I say this because, in order, the best are Casillas and Palop, the former of whom is defending the national team's goal.

"It is somewhat amazing that Raúl, Iker (Casillas) and myself have been so long on this team. It seems players don't last a very long time at the same club nowadays.

"I always look at captain armbands; some players are team captains for only two or three years."

" i think he's talking about that because iker is now third in captaincy after raul and him!"

Cannavaro:

Iker was the talk of all throughout the last week. You have been with Buffon, one of the best, is Iker at the same height?

:: Last year they also talked a lot about Iker and I always tell him jokingly: “What they say to you is all a lie, do not believe it because no are not playing well”. But seriously speaking, this year is distinct. He leaves more; he does not get angry a lot with his colleagues and that is fundamental.

Iker is playing at the top of his game. He is a lot calmer now when it comes to trapping the ball. I'm really liking the way he is playing. He plays in the most difficult position and makes it look so easy.I like it a lot.

Salgado

“If we are the team with the most strikes on goal received and the least conceded goals, it is thanks to San Iker”, Michel Salgado said yesterday letting a giggle; “the defense we do what we can”.

Salgado was the second to the last to close the dressing room at Valdebebas – the last was Raúl – before leaving for Mestalla. His words gave recognition to the work of Iker Casillas.

The Mali midfielder also says Casillas often reminds him of an Under-17 match between Mali and Spain in which the African missed a clear chance. "He always reminds me of it. 'You never scored against me,' he says."

Robinho:

What can you tell me about Casillas?

His saves are amazing! We score goals, but he saves everything. He is the best goalkeeper in the world. I sometimes try to overtake him durning training sessions and I can tell you I have never seen a keeper grab so many balls in one-on-ones. He is truly impressive.

I think Iker is worth more then 40 million euros, even if that is already a lot of money for a keeper. He is a Real Madrid icon

I think Iker is a great keeper and that he shouldn't leave Real Madrid. This is the best team in the world and it should have the best players. If not the best, then Iker is definitely one of the top three keepers in the world.

Victor Valdes could be considered for the national team. Nobody disputes his ability nor his nature, but the problemis that one can say the same about Casillas and Reina.

"However, as both Casillas and Reina have played a lot, perhaps Valdes could come in for a friendly match.

"And I'm one of those who would recall Raul Gonzalez.

Ballotta: Casillas Is Second Only To Buffon

Ahead of his Lazio side's Champions League encounter with Real Madrid, evergreen goalkeeper Marco Ballotta has praised Spanish counterpart Iker Casillas, who he rates as one of the best in the world.

Marco Ballotta is eager to test his mettle against Real Madrid counterpart Iker Casillas in tomorrow night's Champions League encounter.

The two met before, of course, in the 2-2 draw at the Olimpico on Matchday 2, with Ballotta leaving more impressed than ever with the Spanish international.

"The 43 year old remarked, "A short time ago I heard people questioning his abilities, and that seemed absurd: who can you find better than him? Only three or four can measure up to him.

"He made his debut aged 17 in the Champions League and has been first choice since then: that speaks volumes.

"He's very fast, has good reflexes, good with his feet - his only disadvantage is that he's not very tall."

Only one other 'keeper was worthy of mention to the man called 'Grandpa' by his Lazio teammates.

"I wish [Gianluigi Buffon] wasn't Italian, because he always saves matches. It's a natural thing for him.

"I was with Buffon at Parma: he was 14 years old and nobody ever thought he'd be that good."

As for outfield players, Ballotta had his eye on one Madrid star in particular.

"Raul, for me, is a very strong player," he began.

"He plays hard for his teammates, and nobody can move between the lines like him."

Ruud van Nistelrooy, meanwhile, was third only to Marco Van Basten and Gabriel Batistuta

Liverpool and Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina :

"Football is full of surprises," he mused. "Iker [Casillas] is a great goalkeeper, a good teammate and a rival for the position of goalkeeper with the Selección, and he'll be tough to topple from his post.

"It takes many years to be elite in a team like Real Madrid, playing well every week, but one must be prepared when the time comes to play. I'm keen to play myself."

Cannavaro: Casillas Can Win The Golden Ball

Fabio Cannavaro can't pick a winner between Gigi Buffon and Iker Casillas, but he does believe that his Real Madrid teammate could won day win the Ballon d'Or...

Fabio Cannavaro believes that Iker Casillas could one day win the Golden Ball award for World Player of the Year.

Cannavaro, himself a former winner of the prize, told Marca, "[Casillas and Buffon] are two goalkeepers who make you calm when they're in our team.

"Buffon was second [for the Golden Ball] last season, and that shows what a goalie can achieve. They give your team a significant boost.

"If we continue like this, winning the Champions League, then surely Casillas can win the Golden Ball."

"The best keeper in the world"

Casillas recognized by his football cohorts

Last Sunday against Zaragoza Iker Casillas again proved why many consider him the best goalkeeper in the world. Two days after his brilliant performance, the sports pages in Spain have focused exclusively on praise towards Casillas from former goalkeepers, footballer, and coaches.

BUYO:
"He and Buffon are the best in the world. Goalkeepers never get the recognition they deserve, but he should win the Balon d'Or if they did. He's still got a few small kinks to iron out, but he'll make the adjustments because he's young and intelligent. He's a ball magnet. He'll break every single record."
OCHOTORENA:
"It's hard to say who is the best keeper in the world because they fluctuate throughout the season, but Casillas has matured a ton and has been almost perfect this season. He'll make a great save when everyone else thinks it's going to be a goal."

VÍCTOR MUÑOZ, Recreativo boss:
"He makes more saves than any other keeper. His performance has been spectacular. He excels at closing angles between the posts. He has also improved his aerial game and attacking centre passes. Teams reach Barça's box five times and Madrid's box fifteen times, but Barça concedes more goals. It's neither Van Nistelrooy, Robinho, nor Raúl. This year Casillas is the difference-maker. I do, however, believe luck plays a small role between the posts."

VICENTE:
"He makes impossible saves. He would be the perfect goalkeeper if he came out a little more. He would win a Balon d'Or if he was Italian. He deserves all the recognition. It's hard to compare keepers of different eras, but he's among the best in Madrid's history."

ANDONI CEDRÚN, former Athletico and Zaragoza keeper:
"He's got a great head on his shoulders. Even when he debuted at 17 he knew where he was and what his responsibilities were. He's got the gift of appearing when it counts most. All that are missing are the international awards."

AGUSTÍN:
"He's the keeper that influences the final result more than any other. He's won Leagues and Champions Leagues and been the star in both. Now he just needs to succeed with the national team in order to win the Balon d'Or. Madrid has gotten used to startling football, and Casillas is the perfect man for the job."

LUIS GARCÍA, Espanyol player:
"He's exceptional. You have to adjust your shot a lot more in order to beat him. He's got abnormal agility and always remains upright in one-on-ones. His aerial game has improved a lot, meaning that he has very few defects left."

GORKA IRAIZOZ, Athletic keeper:
"He's got reflexes, agility, and reaction speed. His best asset is his leg speed."

MIGUEL ÁNGEL:
"His character, his to-do, and his security... I don't think he has much room for improvement because what takes years to iron out he already does to perfection. He's going through a great patch. There's no doubt he's number one. Winning the Balon d'Or is only fair."

MANUEL AMIEIRO, goalkeeper trainer:
"He was playing in the youth system the first time I saw him. He did everything differently than the rest and looked a lot more veteran because of his attitude. Vicente del Bosque was shocked when I asked if we could move him up. "How are we going to work with such a young kid?" he asked. I explained that he was ahead of all the kids his age and that it was the best way for him to continue his progress."

ANDONI ZUBIZARRETA:
"Forwards used to always get the credit for the good stuff, while goalkeepers were always blamed for mistakes. Iker is doing a great service to the role of the goalkeeper. He's got technique, fast legs, great hands, and is good in one-on-ones."

VICENTE DEL BOSQUE:
"He was never a nuissance and he's not pedantic, which is why he has made it. He always wanted to participate and he liked to play further up, so sometimes he made himself a forward. He's worked his way up and has improved daily. He's had a magnificent career."

ERNESTO VALVERDE, Espanyol boss:
"I'm not very familiar with Buffon, so I believe Casillas is the best in the world. He can improve in certain aspects, such as controlling the ball with his feet, but little more. His agility and cold blood when it comes to saving his team from unexpected situations best define him."

MIGUEL TORRES:
"He never gets upset. He's a role model for kids and a guarantee in goal. We know we can score easily, but Iker can also get us out of any jam."

JUNQUERA:
"He's an exceptional keeper who has great reflexes and is extremely calm. If not the best in the world, he's among the top three. He deserves the Balon d'Or, but it's never given to goalkeepers. I find it impossible that he burns out soon."

GARCÍA REMÓN:
"I predict we'll see Casillas for a long time to come. If not the best Madrid keeper ever, he's very close because he's got a lot more work than his predecessors. He's the most decisive keeper in the world and should win the Balon d'Or."

ZAPATER, Zaragoza midfielder:
"Being a decisive player for Madrid, where everyone stands out for something, is amazing. It's not just his saves, but his presence and the security he gives his team. He's got something different... And great reflexes."

ARAQUISTAIN:
"I don't think he can improve much more. He's never been injured, so I see no reason why he can't be Madrid's keeper for many more years to come. The perfect keeper doesn't exist. He's got to improve in charging balls from the wings. The more shots he sees, the better he gets."

MIGUEL ÁNGEL LOTINA, Deportivo boss:
"He's got it all: reaction speed, coordination, placement. Perhaps he needs a little work on his aerial game."

Iker Casillas has remained humble. He doesn't care for all the praise or the nickname 'Saint Iker', and would rather do his job of "stopping balls and little more. Maintaining a clean sheet is extremely satisfying." His secret? "To continue being my same old self. My secret is to escape from all the praise. Being recognized is great, but no one can change me from being me. It doesn't affect me." Despite being considered the best, Casillas would rather focus on correcting his mistakes and improving as a goalkeeper. There's a reason he's number one.

guti said when asked:

Is the brightness of his shirt Casillas' secret?
It's actually quite ugly, but he's the one who chose it, so we can't do anything about it... (Laughs). I don't think strikers miss because of his shirt.(but because he stops it)

buffon: iker is " supernatural"

The two are commonly regarded as the world's finest goalkeepers, although the Italian veteran has so far plundered more awards than his Iberian counterpart.

Still, Buffon admitted that, despite being over three years Casillas' senior, he feels that he can learn a thing or two from the Real Madrid stopper.

He said, "Whenever I see Casillas, I try to improve.

"Iker has always been a good goalie, but this season he has been supernatural.

"It would be almost impossible to be signed by Real Madrid as long as Casillas is there."

Iker Casillas has been hailed as one of the main reasons that Madrid have held on to top spot in so many games and Robinho agrees that he is one of the greatest. "For me, Iker is the best goalkeeper in the league and, possibly, the world," he added.

Agustín: "Casillas is being rewarded for many yars of hard work and devotion to the team"
Agustín Rodríguez Santiago was a product of Real Madrid's youth system, which he joined in 1975. He made his debut with Castilla in 1978 and in 1980 got promoted to the first team as the third keeper with Miguel Ángel and García Remón. Cool-headed and confident -especially due to his height-, he made excellent use of the chance he got when the starter keeper got injured and found a permanent spot on the team. Agustín played for Real Madrid for 15 years, winning four league titles, one UEFA Cup and the Zamora Trophy in the 1982/83 campaign.

1. Why does Iker Casillas deserve the trophy?
:: It is the reward for many years of hard work. Real Madrid have gone through different stages; they used to conceed too many goals, especially considering the keeper they have, but a stromng group has been built with time and it can now boast of being the least scored upon team. It is a reward for hard work for a great keeper who has gradually become the best there is.

2. What are his best attributes?
:: Concentration and feline reflexes; two essential attributes.

3. Can you picture Casillas winning a Ballon d'Or?
:: It's complicated. It depends too much on publicity and trademarks, more so than on the player's quality. Iker's greatest award is being the representative of a true Madridista philosophy... He knows the fans reward him in their own way every Sunday. That, plus the titles he's won, makes him great.

4. Who do you think is the best keeper in the history of Real Madrid?
:: That's tough. I lived through ten important years in the Club's history, but maybe in order to chose one you would have to look at titles... There is no doubt in my mind that Iker is the best of recent years.

5. What does winning the Zamora mean to a keeper?
:: The Zamora is a collective trophy because the entire team defends. It acknowledges a good performance in the league. It is even better when it comes hand-in-hand with a league title. The entire team should be proud.

Beckham

Former England captain David Beckham claimed on Sunday that his ex-Real Madrid team-mate Zinedine Zidane is the best player of all time.

The 33-year-old Englishman told sports daily Marca that it had been a dream come true to play alongside Zidane for three years at Real.

"To train with Zidane for three years (2003-06) was a dream," confessed Beckham, who has been capped over 100 times by his country.

"For me he is the greatest player of all time."

Beckham, who is now playing for Los Angeles Galaxy, also believed that the best Spanish player at the moment is Barcelona's playmaker Xavi, who inspired Spain to the Euro 2008 title last month and was judged player of the tournament.

However, Beckham also thinks that goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who he knows from his time at Real, should be awarded world player of the year after several outstanding performances at the Euro.

Beckham also denied he wished to become an actor even though he is living in Hollywood but that he would like to return to Madrid - where he still has a house - one day and work with the youth side at Real.
