what about getting a sax boy they're really easy to put on the site and they're great to have if you want to talk with someone on the site. Just an idea :)

Chat Boxes or say boxes are also a big place for spam. a lot of people just go on sites to advertise. I'd suggest that we put it in the portal. That way it'd be out of the way of spammers. It's up to you guys though.

personally I lov cbox. I use them on all my sites and find them a great way to add comunication between members. On my site I set up extra rules that apply when using the cbox, and you would be suprised how many people don't actually spam in it.

I use these ones. If you want to pay, yopu can set up password protection and ban IP addresses
