Jessie walked out onto the soccer field, feeling really out of it. She had been thinking a lot lately, and she was starting to get depressed. She had her hair in a ponytail, not wanting her hair in her face. Her bookbag was swung over her shouder, and she was carrying her journal in her other hand. She walked to the center of the field, and sat down. There was no one else there, but Jessie still felt perfectly content. The soccer fields were the one place in California that Jessie felt safe, and she knew that would never change.

What Jessie had failed to notice was that there was someone else out on the field. Just before Jessie had arrived, Tyler had been working on his bicycle kicks. With every attempt he would hurl the ball into the net and find himself on his back within the grass. Moments before his sister's arrival, he had performed the kick and stayed down. It was actually pretty peaceful out there- just staring up into the clouds and making out all types of shapes. Call it a spacing out moment for Tyler.

Jessie turned around, sensing that someone else was there. She quickly saw her older brother, and shovered her journal into her book bag, hoping that he hadn't seen her with it. If he did, only trouble would come from it. She then twisted a strand of hair around her fingers and looked up to the sky, pretending she hadn't seen him. Why she was acting like this-she had no idea. She had been good at keeping things from her family this long, she didn't see why she was starting to break now.

As Tyler picked himself up from the grass, he extended a leg forward and allowed his other knee to point upward at the sky. His hazel eyes fell upon his younger sister, who shoved something into her backpack with quite a bit of haste. Was something wrong? She seemed a bit antsy. Deciding he'd just go over and play it cool, Tyler jogged in Jessie's direction and threw himself down next to her. "Hey, dahrlin'," He jokingly greeted her, a friendly grin written on his expression.

Jessie flashed a weak smile in Tyler's direction as he sat down in the grass next to her. "Hey. Whats up?" she asked him, trying to sound normal. She began to zip up her bookbag, which was sitting right next to her.

"Not much, sis," He started, pulling his knees up to his chest. "What about you? You seem pretty pleased with sitting in the middle of the field for no reason. I'm guessing you weren't trying to move the ball with your mind."

Jessie laughed. "No, I wasn't trying to move the ball around with my mind... I was just thinking, that's all." she said as she turned so she was facing him. I would've sat in the bleachers, or along the sidelines, but I didn't realize anyone else was out here." she told him.

"People do a lot of that around here," Ty commented with a grin, scanning their surroundings. It didn't really look like anyone else was coming; why bother worrying about it. That just meant he understood Jessie's train of thought. "No one else's coming," He announced knowingly, shrugging.

"Yeah...I figured no one else was." Jessie said as she glanced around the field for a moment, then back at her older brother. "And your right, people do seem to do a lot of thinking." she said with a small laugh. It made it sound like back in Scotland, people didn't think-which wasn't entirely true. She shrugged, and let out a small sigh.

"So what've you been... 'thinkin' about?" He decided to just confront her and ask, raising an eyebrow. Tyler couldn't help but think his sister was up to something; that or she was just blatantly hiding something from his eyes and ears. He thought he was reasonably easy to talk to, so call him crazy if he didn't understand why she would keep something from him.

Jessie sighed. "Just the past." she paused, "And how stupid I really was." she told him-not really lying, but more so not telling the entire truth. Jessie honestly felt that her family wouldn't be able to handle the real truth of the matter, so she just kept everything bottled up inside. Which did cause her loads of internal conflict.

"Oh," He replied knowingly, extending his legs out in front of him. He leaned back so that his upper-body was supported by his muscular arms, still watching his sister with a twinkle of concern in his eyes. "Do you think about that a lot?" Tyler was compelled to ask her, curiosity getting the best of him.

Jessie looked him dead in the eyes, seeing that he was curious now. "Every day of my life." she told him, before turning her head, and looking directly in front of her. She was going to tell him, whether or not it would be today, she didn't know, she just knew she was going to tell him.
