Desiree Lane - July 21, 2008 07:06 PM (GMT)

It had been about two weeks since Desiree had with grocery shopping, she still wasn't used to doing it on her own. Plus, eating Griffin's and Bree's food got old after awhile, the brunette hated the feeling of being a mooch. So, after getting home from Bree's for the night, she took a long shower, got dressed and walked into her bedroom. Grabbing a pen and paper, she spent twenty minutes on a list of things she needed to get. Lists were easy when you were mainly feeding one person. Her kitten, Zeppelin, curled up on her shoulder and purred loudly, making the girl laugh as she finished the last few things on her list. Ripping the page out of the notebook, she placed Zeppelin on the bed and slipped on some flip-flops. Grabbing her purse, her keys, and her sidekick, she rushed out the door and to her Rover.

There was literally no traffic. Desiree made it to the store within ten minutes and parked near the front, not feeling the need to walk far. Turning off the ignition, she opened the passenger door, stepped out and grabbed her purse. Locking the car with the key remote, she shut the door and made her way inside the grocery store. Pulling out her list, she started with the vegetables and fruits. Making her way over to the area, she pulled her shades up on top of her head, grabbed a bag, and started looking for the perfect tomatoes.

For the most part, Cassie hated grocery shopping because she always got lost in the aisles, or she would just generally cause herself some accident with some food item. This was Cassie, anything could happen. But there was one thing that the girl never did; she never made a shopping list, because she always thought that it was pretty pointless for herself - she was prone to straying away from the list and just buying whatever she saw. However, she had a rough idea inside her head of what to buy, so once Cassie got there, she would be fine. Leaving her dorm - she knew that she wouldn't be living there much longer - Cassie got into her car and started to drive, paying attention to the road because knowing her luck, she would most likely get lost.

The traffic was pretty much non-existent, so it really only took Cassie fifteen minutes to get to the grocery, hardly any time at all. Locking her car, she pulled her bag strap higher up her shoulder, oh yes, she was fully equipped with money. Grabbing a shopping cart, she entered the building and as soon as she saw something that she needed, the girl threw it in the cart. Having everything except fruit and vegetables, Cassie figured that they were next on her list, at least her mental list anyways. Turning a corner, Cassie didn't realise that the area in which she needed was so close to her, and because of that, she nearly crashed into a girl with her shopping cart. Great. "Shit!" Mentally cursing herself, she glanced up at the person in which she nearly caused a casualty to, a guilty look on her face. "Sorry about that, I should really watch where I'm going."

Desiree wasn't accident prone. She was usually safe when it came to everything. Usually, that is. She made stupid choices so, either you're klutzy or known to make stupid choices. So, when she got pushed over a few feet by a shopping cart, her first reaction would've naturally been laughing. She managed to fall down to the ground, laughing hysterically, probably turning a few heads. There, on the floor of a grocery store, sat a seventeen year old girl in a mini-dress with heels, laughing hysterically to the point where she couldn't get herself off the floor. The brunette pulled her dress down and made sure nothing was showing as she slowly got off the floor, a wide grin spread across her face.

Looking at the girl who hit her, Desiree had no idea who she was. If it was a friend, normally you'd fake yell at them, act as if you were super angry or super hurt but when it's a random stranger, that's just cruel. Wiping off her dress and pulling off a dust ball, she smiled at the girl, assuring her she was okay, "It's alright." she said politely, finding the girl rather adorable in a non-lesbian way. She had a cute face and gorgeous hair. She wondered if she was new? Or a student. Probably a student because Desiree didn't know all the students by name or face, "Are you alright?" she asked, lamely. Well, she could've broken a nail or something else along those means.

Now, Cassie felt embarrassed over the fact that she had caused a scene. And there was always the possibility that she had hurt the girl that she had just accidentally sent flying to the floor, great job Cassie. But it seemed as if the girl was laughing? Laughing at Cassie or maybe herself, but all she knew was that if it was her on the ground, the she would be laughing too, but that was only because she was crazy like that. So, for the most part, she was intrigued. And when she started to get back up, Cassie guessed that there were no injuries, or else she would have surely had another reaction to her fall. All of this because she wanted fruit and vegetables.

Pulling at her t-shirt so that it didn't hunch up, Cassie realized that she had a sudden hatred for shopping carts, only because they were lethal enough to cause a casualty - it didn't help that it had to be Cassie steering it either. Smiling warmly at her when the girl announced that it was alright, at least she was forgiving. Some people wouldn't have taken her apology so well but heck, that was their problem. The girl had a pretty face and beautiful dark hair, creating a slight contrast with the hair colours. "I'm fine," she replied, seeing no reason for her to be injured. "What about yourself ... you went down pretty hard." Realizing that she should at least keep some of her manners, Cassie stuck her hand out in the other girls direction, the purpose being so that she could shake it. "I'm Cassie by the way. Cassie Scott."

Desiree lived for moments as the one she was going through. She had probably embarrassed herself by falling on the ground but who really cared? She certainly didn't. She wasn't laughing at the girl though, no, that's just mean. The impact was pretty hilarious and it's a great ice breaker, in a way, "Hi Cassie, I'm Desiree. Lane, Desiree Lane." she said politely, extending her arm to shake hands with the girl. She could tell the girl felt dumb and she didn't want her to feel so awkward, at least in this situation, "I'm totally okay but thanks for that? No matter how odd that sounds, it definitely woke me up from the long boring day I was having." she smiled, thankfully. In some odd way, the fall made her day, got her out of her slump. Slump of the stress that went on, as she got ready to sell her parents house, get an apartment, and all those super fun things.

(D: sorry! i suck.)

Feeling a little bit more comfortable with the situation, Cassie was pleased and relieved to hear that the girl wasn't livid with her, because it was an honest accident. An honest, clumsy accident, something that typically would have come from Cassie. Feeling no tension in the air whatsoever, she smiled warmly at the girl as she introduced herself and shook Cassie's hand. Somehow, the name Desiree sound vaguely familiar, but then again, Cassie was probably just imagining it. "It's nice to meet you, Desiree." Being honest with her words, she listened as Desiree thanked her? Whatever for? Knocking her to the ground? Well ... wow, Cassie had never been thanked for that. Chuckling to herself, she shook her head, her blonde hair shifting slightly. "Well ... in some odd way, I guess that I should say you're welcome, I know what you mean with boring days, they always suck." And indeed, they did - she had spent too many times staring at the ceiling from pure boredom. Tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, she raised an eyebrow, almost questioning herself, she had never seen this girl around before, so really she was pretty much confirming it to herself. "I don't think I've ever seen you around, but then again, you might know some of my friends. I may just be extremely slow." Chuckling to herself, it was always a possibility.

[i r fail . <3]

Desiree had been having one of those days but for a few weeks now. Nothing seemed to excite her, you know? She had everything she could possibly ever want. Some fantastic friends, a wonderful, caring boyfriend, and a supportive family, even if they were across the United States. But she just felt selfish for not having anything, fresh. New. She wanted something exciting to happen but nothing along the crazy lines, "It's nice to meet you too, Cassie." she told the blonde, smiling. It was nice seeing a fresh, new face. She didn't look familiar, she might have lived here all her life but Desiree, still hadn't quite met everyone in Oakland, out of the thousands of people that bellowed. She just shrugged and laughed, "Um, you might know Reece? He's my best gay friend. And Karen Rodgers, she's my best friend ever. Or my boyfriend, Griffin?" she told the girl, wondering if that might spark her memory, "I have a face that's easy to forget, I know these things." she joked.

Cassie Scott - August 14, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
For the most part, coming to the grocery store had pretty much proved to be interesting, she had met someone new but that still didn't change the fact that she had been feeling a little lonely lately. She hadn't seen Hailey in how long? Or Griffin for that matter, her best friends had just ... vanished. However, they did say that patience was a virtue, but still, Cassie was wondering how much longer her patience could actually last. Feeling confident that she wouldn't go too insane anytime soon, she focused herself back onto the conversation at hand. "I don't know Reece," she began, racking her brains just to check that she really didn't. She got nothing. "I don't know Karen personally, but I know her cousin Ben." Feeling slightly dumb, she paused for a few moments after hearing Griffin's name. So this was the girl! Cassie was actually amazed that she didn't recognize her right away and she could see why Griffin was crazy about her, Desiree was absolutely gorgeous. <3 "Actually, I used to date Griffin a few months ago." Chuckling to herself, she knew that obviously there would be more than one Griffin in Oakland. "We are talking about Griffin Travis, right?" Because if they weren't, then that would be a little weird. "You don't seem like the type of person that has a forgettable face, if that makes sense." Heck, Cassie said things like this all the time.

Desiree Lane - August 15, 2008 02:37 AM (GMT)

Unlike Cassie's problem, Desiree's was the complete opposite. She would go into weeks of not talking to anyone, staying cooped up in her house, or traveling to far far far away destinations for weeks, sometimes months. And when she came back, she'd automatically assume everything was all right. So, Cassie didn't know Reece, she must've been around Desiree's age and Reece was a few years older. If she knew Ben, one of Desiree's ex's, then they had something in common. But the second she mentioned Griffin, her heart sank. Absolutely crushed to the ground and she felt horrible. This is the girl that had stuff written about her in Perez, that Griffin supposedly dumped Cassie only to have sex with Desiree. Total bull, "Yeah, Griffin Travis." she mumbled, feeling awkward now. Cassie didn't look like she was going to punch Desiree in the face and for the brunette, it was definitely something new. Taking a long deep breath, noticing that she probably looked like an idiot, she just laughed to herself and smiled, "So you're the girl Griffin was dating?" she pointed out, pushing a chunk of hair behind her left ear.

Cassie Scott - August 15, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
So this was that Desiree. Cassie still found that rather weird and for the most part she hoped that she hadn't just made things awkward. Well, of course she had, she just mentioned that she had dated her boyfriend. But still, like she said to Griffin as long as he was happy then she was fine. And lately? Well, she had never seen the boy so happy. Nodding her head as she confirmed his named, she now knew that the two of them definitely had something in common. Laughing alongside with Desiree, Cassie wasn't too sure what she was laughing at in the first place, but still ... she went along with it. Running a hand through her hair (this had seemed to turn into a habit lately) she nodded her head, that indeed had been her. "Yeah, that was me." Smiling warmly at her, she hoped that she didn't look awkward around her because really, she didn't feel awkward, not in the least. "But still, I'm really happy for you guys." Nodding her head in encouragement, Cassie was completely being honest.
