Title: everybody's waiting for a day in the sun
Mikayle LaFont - June 9, 2008 07:28 AM (GMT)
Today was one of those warm days, not hot, but warm. Mikayle was doing something that some would think was a little weird, though. She was sitting on the pier, looking out at the ocean. She wasn't sitting down and looking over the railing. Actually, she was sitting at the very edge and hanging her legs over the edge. Her flip flops sat beside her as Miki rested her hands on her thighs, which were covered by a dress that reached down to her knees.
Usually Mikayle would go to the beach if she needed to think about something, but today she was just out there to enjoy the warm weather and the fresh air. She thought about inviting someone, but who? There were plenty of people she could invite, but not many she really wanted to invite. Not that she didn't want to hang out with her friends, it was more that she didn't want to go to the trouble of trying to find someone to meet her up here. So instead Mikayle just sat there enjoying the oceany air by herself in silence, except for the music playing quietly from her ipod.

Heh, Cassie was still on her lonesome in her dorm room and to be quite honest the girl didn't like it. Oh no, she was one of those people that always had to be around other people, maybe talking to them or whatever, she just had to be around people! Grr, this was annoying. Pulling herself up she looked at her shorts, tank top and with a quick grin she grabbed a pair of flats, forcing them onto her feet. Skipping out of her dorm room she thought about taking her car to the pier, but better still, why not walk? It was saving the environment, and she was getting some exercise. Grabbing her iPod out of her pocket Cassie knew that the walk would be fairly long, so the music would help it pass quicker. Perfect.
The streets were quiet, for once, which made it easy for Cassie to get from point A to point B. Smiling to herself, the girl found herself at the pier thirty minutes later, which caused her to notice a girl sitting there by herself. However the girl seemed familiar. What was her name? Michaela? Michelle? Mikayle! That was it. Listening to the sound of her shoes scuffling along the ground she continued to walk before reaching Mikayle's side. The only reason she knew her was because of Rory, and she actually hadn't seen him in a long time either. Strange. Sitting down, Cassie was careful not to make an almighty racket because the girl was listening to her iPod too, and she didn't want to cause any heart attacks. Not today.

By the time Cassie got to the pier, Mikayle was mouthing the words to one of the songs on her Ipod, Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls, so she didn't notice her walk up and sit down next to her. She didn't notice until the song was over and she happened to have the sense that she wasn't alone. She looked to her right and smiled when she figured out she was right, then put away her Ipod.
"Hi," Mikayle said, wrapping the ear bud's wire around her Ipod. "I'm Mikayle, and you are?" This girl looked slightly familiar, but she couldn't put a name to a face, so she acted as if she had no idea who she was. This wasn't unlike, Mikayle, after all, since she didn't really view it as lying. More like making things easier for Miki, maybe even for the other person.

Looking towards the girl for a few moments, Cassie noticed her mouthing along with the words which caused her to smile slightly. Now, because it was Cassie, she would very usually opt to not mouth along with the words, no the girl would just belt them out. She was fearless? Contemplating in her own thoughts for a while, she heard movement beside her and she figured that the girl realized she was sitting there. Looking at her own iPod that was sitting on the side of the dock next to her, Cassie safely tucked it into her pocket, focusing her attention back to Mikayle.
"Hey," she replied, smiling warmly at the girl. "I'm Cassie." Double checking to see if it was actually Rory that she knew Mikayle through, she nodded to herself, almost certain with what she was thinking. "You're friends with Rory, right? Umm, Rordan Wolfe?" Hoping that the girl actually did know that boy, Cassie got ready for when she would have to mentally slap herself for being wrong, however it was nothing new, the girl was wrong all the time so Cassie wouldn't really be that fussed. But sometimes, there was just some things that you didn't want to get incorrect.

"Nice to meet you, Cassie, I'm Mikayle," Miki said, smiling politely. "Rory? Yeah, I guess you could say we're friends. Are you friends with him? Well you'd have to at least know him and it doesn't sound like you hate him, so I'm guessing friends? Or at least acquaintances." Mikayle paused and noticed she was talking a lot, so her polite smile changed into a grin. "Sorry, I'm rambling."
Maybe she knew this girl through Rordan? That didn't seem likely since she didn't know a lot of people that Rordan knew, but it seemed that Cassie knew her through her ever so distant, if even related, cousin Rordan. Well, no matter how Cassie knew her, she seemed pretty cool. She seemed like someone Mikayle could talk to, but then again she could talk to pretty much anyone.

ooc::; I don't mind, but it's up to Cassie.

ooc; I don't mind either! (:
"It's nice to meet you too Mikayle," said Cassie, smiling at her in a friendly manner. "Yeah, I am friends with him," nodding to confirm this, she quickly added, "I've known him since I was a little kid." Grinning a little, she chuckled and quickly added, "It's OK. I tend to ramble too. I guess I just ramble when I'm nervous, or when I'm hyper. It's either sugar or adrenaline fueled."
Chewing on her bottom lip - another habit of Cassie's - the girl realized that she was rambling, which caused her to nervously giggle. "See what I mean? I generally tend to ramble, except I think that it's because I've just ate cake."

"Rordan never told me about you. Then again, he probably doesn't know about half the people I'm friends with or anything," Mikayle said. "I do the same thing, especially when I have sugar. When I'm nervous? Definitely. Either I'll ramble or I won't say much at all. Or sometimes I just ramble at odd moments."
Mikayle laughed when Cassie said that she had just eaten cake and held up her hand for a high five. "Whoo! We're the ramblers! High five!"
