Laiyla wasn't so keen on hospitals, seeing as the last time she had been here she had been taken by Jayson and Deryk after collapsing at Jay's doorstep. That had been when she had had worser issues with her drugs, before her first withdrawl, and had been at a not so good time period. An awful lot had happened between those months though and she was once again happy, though somewhat cautious at the whole finding out about Christian wanting to go with a Molli Vaughn -- somebody she wasn't even sure who she was -- to Cancun. She hadn't heard him utter her name a single other time, but had supposed not wanting to be an overprotective girlfriend; had told him that she was cool with it. That was a partial lie, seeing as she was somewhat cautious.
She was somewhat nervous at coming in, in particular because the last time she was here they had told her they needed to run some more blood tests and bone x-rays or something along the lines of that. Having done some research to find out what they were testing for; it was a disease called Hodgkin's lymphoma. A cancer that was fairly common, though highly treatable. She had several of the symptoms, weight loss and frequent sickness though had been trying to disguise that but had found that it was inavoidable. She hadn't felt that good in a couple weeks or so now, and this may be a false alarm, but she wasn't that optimistic.
A somewhat timid expression was on her face, her hand squeezing Christian's as they waited for what seemed to be hours in the hospital waiting room. Finally, a nurse came out to announce her name to be called in; and they were permitted to follow the nurse to one of the rooms where the doctor's would soon look at her. After changing, bashfully, into a hospital gown; she sat on one of the cots and nervously looked down at her thin wrists before looking over at Chris. "Hey, you."
Christian had never been the squeamish type who was afraid of going to the hospital. In all honesty, he wasn't at all afraid of anything that the hospital brought with it. Death was something he wasn't quite ready for, but being around it didn't make him scared or anything. He ruffled his hair with a free hand, looking around the waiting room. The only thing he disliked about hospitals were the crying families and stuff. Luckily, he was never really around that area so he had no issues with the dying people and such. Christian looked around once more, trying to find the girl he was looking for. Surrounded by so many people, it was hard to pick one out of the crowd; hospitals were so damn crowded. It took him ages to finally spot Laiyla, but after a while, she was apparent.
They sat together for a little while, and currently he found his hand was being squeezed. Lai had changed into one of the hospital gowns and was now sitting and waiting. "Hey me," he told her back with a small smile. He didn't want her to be scared or anything. Christian was going to be there for her even if they weren't together because... Well, he wasn't always a complete jerk. Most of the time he was, but he had his nice moments. "Are you nervous?" he asked her, looking her in the eye. It was weird for him to be so nice to anyone, but he felt that Laiyla needed it. Besides, he had always been nice around her. It was the way he was.
Laiyla wasn't exactly pleased at the idea that she may have something that could, and eventually would kill her if procedures and surgeries malfunctioned or didn't do what they were supposed to do. That was why that she had made a silent vow with herself that if she were to have something like that, that she wouldn't give into surgery and would rather live out the rest of her live all happy and enjoying it however she wanted, something that she had been prudent on thinking about back in the age when she lived on the streets and shared drug needles with her brother and friends. Not a wise thing, she realized.
As much as she might have wanted to deny that it wasn't akward between them, she had to admit in the back of her mind that since their split it had been rather akward between the pair of them. At least they had been truthful with one another, at least he would still be able to be happy and do what he wanted, she reminded herself with a nervous smile. They entered the hospital, arriving in their room and her changing into her gown at a fairly speed pace for what was typically the maximum speed in the hospital. It seemed that a lot of times, they only really hurried up if you were dying or in need of immediate care. Her dimples became more crystal clear as she grinned, her eyes still steadily focused on him, as she wondered silently how gossip seemed to travel throughout Oakland. And how odd it was that he could get over things so quickly in comparison to her, or maybe he had never been in anything to get over. Yeah, that was it. She managed to keep herself from noticably smiling or making some sort of expression that would hint to what she was thinking on.
"Maybe just a bit," she said sarcastically, judging by the fact that she was shaking just a bit as she rocked back and forther in her seat. "Being in a hospital makes you squirm just a bit in general." Laiyla offered a few quite laughs, watching as a tall male doctor walked into the room with a rather grim expression on his face. They couldn't possibly be anymore less cheerful, now could they?
