Osbourne speaks about suicide pact
Saturday, October 20 2007

X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne has spoken more about the suicide pact she has made with her husband Ozzy. After watching Sharon's father Don Arden suffer from Alzheimer's disease, the Osbournes decided that they would not want to continue living if their mental health was ever affected by an illness.

"When Ozzy and I would go to the home that we put my dad in, Ozzy would call it god's waiting room, you would see these people in there week after week, their bread is dead but their body is alive," Sharon told Parkinson. "It's so cruel and such a terrible thing to happen to anybody and we wouldn't want put our family through that or ourselves. We have found a clinic that you go to and that's it basically - the old injection. Ozzy wants to put the Beatles on, listen to the Beatles - I will have to suffer the Beatles one more time! That would be it."

Parkinson airs at 10.35pm tonight on ITV1.

Sounds a bit intense, but I understand how she feels.

Quality, not quantity.

Amy - September 29, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
It's a bit heavy, isn't it? I couldn't hear that from my parents.

SharonAndOzzy4eva - September 29, 2007 11:24 PM (GMT)
I totally understand where she is coming from. Having watched someone die from Alzheimers it is quite clear to me why she would not want to put herself, Ozzy or the kids thru this or vise versa. I support their brave decision one hundered percent. :fairy:

Faabulous!!! - September 29, 2007 11:28 PM (GMT)
I totally get where they are coming from too. Its not a nice illness and I would definitely not want to live in a situation where I couldnt do things I had previously done. So I agree with what they are saying, totally.

Mrs O rox! - October 20, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
First of all, sorry I haven't been on here in a while :(.

I think they are so brave to decide to do that and to discuss it with every one . One thing I'm not sure of is, if one of them got the disease would they both end their lives? Either way, it's a very brave decision for them both to make.

lola 14 - October 20, 2007 03:28 PM (GMT)
I can really understand where Ozzy and Sharon are coming from,it's an horrnedous disease.

Sarah<3* - October 21, 2007 05:05 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I understand where she's coming from, it's an awful disease to die from, with her being such a loving mother i can see why she wouldn't want her children going through what she's had to go with her dad.

If it came to this I'd support Sharon all the way :)

Shazza - October 21, 2007 05:37 PM (GMT)
I heard about that and I think its really nice because my aunt has that disease and its horrible to watch someone go through it, it just rips you up inside so I completely understand her!!!!

Sharon’s Shocking Suicide Pact with Ozzy
November 27, 2007

From her public feud with Courtney Love, to her “X-Factor” walkout and her quirky marriage to Ozzy, Sharon Osbourne has always made headlines. Now the outspoken star is sitting down with “Extra” for a no holds barred interview, starting with her infamous feud with Love.

Sharon claims that Love got her son, Jack, hooked on drugs, and calls the fiasco “a really, really ugly situation.” She adds, “It’s kind of got to the point where it’s now in legal hands, so we can’t talk about it, because it’s gone to that stage.”

Sharon gave “Extra” a tour of her London mansion and showed off some of the items she and Ozzy are selling at auction, where she talked about life after rehab for Jack, Kelly and Ozzy. “I’m in a great place,” Sharon says. “My life, my kids are fine; my husband is better than ever, health-wise.”

But if either Sharon or Ozzy ever face terminal illness, Sharon reveals the devoted couple has a suicide plan in place. “Whatever it was, where you know you’re going to die, we would want to choose the time where we want to leave,” she confesses. “I would go with my old man, and he would come with me.” But she adds, “Not if it’s in the next five years.”

i wonder what their children make of this.

loveheart - November 28, 2007 04:13 PM (GMT)
I'm confused at whether they mean, if one person gets ill and does the euthinasia thing, the other will kill them self too?

because like, if that was my mum and dad... i don't think I'd like that idea to much, id feel ...well i don't know but i wouldnt be happy(obviously).

Red - November 28, 2007 04:57 PM (GMT)
i think that's probably what they mean. for the sake of their kids, i hope sharon's just talking crap as usual.

loveheart - November 28, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah me too  if shes telling the truth, i think its awful. I mean, i agree with euthanasia if your ill, but i don't agree with killing yourself just because the other has. I know they love eachother and cant live without one another and all that, but i cant understand how or why you would put your kids through that.

But i guess its their decision.

It sounds like bull for the press.

shozzy and sharon - November 29, 2007 11:27 PM (GMT)
I don't know if it is  as that is what she said in the Extra interview so it may not be made up. <_< :)

Tallulah - November 30, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
I meant she's said it for dramatic effect, rather than the press having made it up. :)

Sweet interview. Thanks for posting :)

Hasn't sharon said that before though that she would kill herself. I am sure after ozzy had is quad bike accident i read she said that if he had died she would have committed suicide. Because she said her life wouldn't be worth living without him.

 :xunsure:  :xheart: :x( :xcry:

EM-UFC - December 28, 2007 03:08 PM (GMT)
How selfish would that be to her children and the people close to her though?

Mrs O rox! - December 29, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
I don't know, I can see it from both sides. I can see that Sharon wouldn't be able to live without Ozzy - I mean can you imagine Sharon and no Ozzy, because I can't? - but I can also see that it is going to be harder for the kids if both their parents die at once. But they have discussed with it with the kids, haven't they, so I guess they would have talked about these things.

You know when Sharon said 'but not if it's in the next five years', do you think she means that neither one of them will themselves if one of them gets ill in the next five years or does she mean that only the person who was ill would kill themselves if it was in the next five years? Because she said it just after she had said 'I would go with my old man and he would come with me'.

Gabi - December 29, 2007 08:35 PM (GMT)
In the interview with Terri then the comment was quite flippant IMO... put in black and white on paper however and it has a whole different meaning. Plus as someone noted, they neglected to include the follow up quip "not if its in the next 5 or so years..." rendering the whole thing a bit of a joke. A bizarre and arguably inappropriate one, but that's just Sharon x;)

Mrs O rox! - December 29, 2007 08:45 PM (GMT)
Maybe you're right, in fact, you probably are. :)

SapphiraX - January 30, 2008 11:06 PM (GMT)
If it's not made up, I can understand why they'd do it. But they've got 3 children, so that kinda changes it all.
