I acquired an Evolution 22 from my brother which has at some time in its life been dismasted. My brother is convinced it’s been fitted with a nonstandard mast. The mast is approximately 30ft long and weighs about 80lbs with the standing rigging but without the boom, could anyone confirm if this is right or not.
Does anyone have a design for a pivoting rudder to replace the “plank”. A chap I met in Gib in the late sixties set of across the Atlantic. Half way across he had a telegraph pole roll under the main hull of his trimaran, it didn’t take off his transom hung rudder it removed the transom complete with rudder. He spent the rest of the voyage cooking his dinner while standing in water up to his knees, he did though have his two outer hulls to keep him afloat which I do not.
Wasp.
Well when I replied to your other post on masts I did not know that you mast was 30ft. This does seem a bit long. Normally a mast is a bit longer than the yacht. e.g say 25-26ft. Do get it checked my a manufacture, and I will measure my friends asap. If it is too long then you can alway cut a section of at the bottom. But be very sure that the length is ok.
Where are you based in the world?
Happy sailing
