I would indeed be grateful if you could post my details on the site with an invitation from any Evolution owners to contact me if they need any advice or anything to do with their boats.

I am also keen to get as much input as possible into a new Evolution design. I am thinking of something around 27 to 28ft. With a lifting keel, of course. I have a builder in Germany very interested in building the boats and as he is based on the Polish border his prices are very good.

I think there could be very strong demand for a boat like this, with an inboard engine, retractable prop installation and all of the attributes of the Evolution 26 and 25 combining top class performance for IRC and club racing together with a roomy interior and shoal draft.

Comments from existing Evolution owners would be most welcome. If nothing else it will help establish if there is a potential interest from existing owners. What would also be interesting would be an idea of the sort of money that an owner would be willing to spend today on a new boat.

On another matter I have a prototype Evolution 32 available. The boat has twin retracting bilge boards, a carbon rig, fully equipped for racing and cruising. Anyone interested please write or email me. julianeveritt@everittdesign.co.uk

Its good to see that Julian Everitt is still keen to repeat his earlier sucess with a well proven formula.
It is also a shame that he feels drawn to Eastern Europe to manufacture it-but we all know which female(?) prime minister to blame for the death(murder) of British manufacturing industry.
Why dont we start up a boat factory in the UK with immigrant Eastern Europeans using the current governments immigrant "education" programme of £70 a week to get round the UK minimum wage?
If Macgregor and Odin can do it with heavily comprimised designs(from a sailing point) it MUST be possible to do it in this country with a proper sailing design!!!!?
Price wise, if I did'nt have a mortgage and kids to support then a new yacht would be in my price range and I think about £20K would be ok: certainly the comprimised designs I referred to earlier do ok in that range. (but going up to about £30K with all the extras....)
As it is, 20-30 year old yachts are within my price range.
The main advantage that the Evo25 has over the 26 and Hunter delta, trapper 240 etc is the 6' headroom which allows it to be used as a caravan en route to the sailing area.
I actually prefer the idea of the outboard in a well as it allows the cabin to stay engine smell free! If you could come up with a way of getting the cooling water from the outboard to heat an exchanger for hot water that would be ideal!!

I agree with the idea of a new boat, but I too would want a outboard version for easy servicing and reduced smell and it gives more space. There is also no cost advantage with a diesel engine as the duty on fuel is due to be scrapted in Nov 2008. The extra head room is ideal and so is a spray hood if that we part of the package. as this is what the wife really likes.

HAving only had our 25 for a year we have limited experience but have found her a very good boat. Ours has the original 7HP BMW inboard which works fine and generates no noticable smell in the cabin. It does not put enough power into the water at present which may be due to engine size or a function of the propeller

What mods would we look for in ideal world? Probably:

cast iron shoe to facilitate drying out on rough or untested ground (like a Kelt) (Note this would also solve rusting of pelleted steel ballast)
some protective mini keel fins or combing for the propellor
more mechanical power in the water.
the 26 cabin layout but with the 25 headroom
more comfortable seating on side decks in cockpit
coach roof extending back a little to facilitate mainsheet traveller out of cockpit
a locking mechanism for the raised keel
a hooped pulpit to hold spinnaker bag
Keel pump at the front of the cockpit (clear of the tiller)
grab rails on the companionway steps (inside)
maintain trailerbility in any size increase

What would I pay for one? Sorry I can not realistically answer that as I would only ever buy second hand.
