Title: Wii and PS3 Release Dates
Description: For those who don't know!

Raging Dragon - September 15, 2006 05:17 PM (GMT)
Gamespot confirmed yesterday that the Wii will arrive on US shores November 19th for $249. As for you Europeans, Wii arrives December 8th at a cost of *insert Euros Symbol here*179...and Japan gets it December 2nd at some amount of yen. XD

As for PS3, the US gets it November 17th for $499 (Standard Pack) or $699 (Deluxe). Europe has to wait until March 2007 to get their hands on a PS3. ^.^;

Linoud - September 15, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
D: I can afford a Wii almost, just another 39 euroes for me. :3
I can't wait for it! :D Man It'll be awesome.

Carl - September 16, 2006 11:53 AM (GMT)
Wii comes with the Wii-Sports game too :)

Raging Dragon - September 19, 2006 02:09 PM (GMT)
Looks like I made a slight mistake on this. Wii will cost £179 (which is pounds right?), 249 euros,and 25,000 Yen. ^.^;

*shot*

Carl - September 19, 2006 02:43 PM (GMT)
yus, £ is GBP. :)

edit:
BUMP!
I'm actually having doubts about the Wii now D:
IGN have been updating basically all the facts about Wii that have come straight from Nintendo's mouth.
-It can only do upto 480p [progresive scan] (compared to 1080dpi of the 360 and PS3) and technically can go higher but due to the absolute miniscule RAM and low computing power of the Wii means it wouldn't be able to run games at normal speed.
-Despite what they said earlier, the Wii can't connect to PC monitors (doesnt bother me though)
-Wii component cables are not included in the box, you have to buy em separately.
-It doesn't support Dolby Digital audio, which means my surround sound system is put to waste (until I get the PS3)
-It doensn't have an internal HD and only has 512mb of flash memory. SD cards can be bought to upgrade it but $300 for an 8-Gig SD card which still means it has less than half the 360's memory and 7.5 times less memory than the PS3 (consider that the 60gb hard drive, if sold separately, would cost only around $120-150)
-It's no longer gonna be region free like the PS3 (darn there goes my option of getting imports from america ;_; )
-The Wii can't play DVDs (with Nintendo citing that it would be pointless to do so because everyone has a standalone dvd player now) ((which is true))

But either way, I'm gonna buy a Wii still.

Linoud - September 21, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
By component cables do you mean cables for the Wii to the TV? D:
Doubtful they wouldn't include that Carl.

I've absolutely no idea. Nintendo just said that no component cables would come with it, but didn't say which ones. My guess is its the stuff for extra features.
But scart cables came with my PS2 so maybe that's why I was expecting em *nods*

edit: BUMP!
Well after seeing a list of what comes in this lovely box  , I can say that...well....I can't see anything that is missing!
After a closer look I can only really say that theres no cable to connect your wii-mote to the console (if you prefer to do that rather than using batteries). Theres no mention of a LAN-access point but theres a little add-on (that looks like a usb memory pen) that can be bought to create a LAN access point (needed for online play) but even so, they cost like what? £15? if you can afford a Wii then £15 is nothing in my opinion.

So my earlier verdict was correct  the only things missing are things used for the extra features.

edit: BUMP#2!
Just watched a press conference video for the Wii that was released a few days ago.
They say that you get all the cables that are "needed to get started" :)

Linoud - September 22, 2006 09:23 PM (GMT)
That's a relief. B)
I'll end up getting the more advanced stuff though. At least the Online equipment. XD
Me versus you on Bleach if it's online Carl? :)

*slashes j00 with Zangetsu*

Glen - September 24, 2006 12:35 AM (GMT)
I saved up money over the summer by working. I've got enough for both PS3 and a Wii right now, with enough left over to buy one or two games for each.

Holliequ - September 24, 2006 03:45 PM (GMT)
I can't wait til this comes out ^^

The problem is saving some of my birthday money so I can buy some games; Mum's promised to get me the console for christmas.

£179 quid? Is that it? Awesome B)

Hell, I could afford on now if I wanted D:

Carl - September 24, 2006 04:22 PM (GMT)
Holly, get the same games that me and Linoud get so we can whup yo ass play against you online

Great, I'd be glad to whup your ass repeatedly play online. :)

Carl - October 3, 2006 06:43 PM (GMT)
so which games are we all gonna buy?
Wii sports is probably multiplayer so we've already got one with the console :)

Holliequ - October 4, 2006 08:22 PM (GMT)
If they have Cricket, I WILL kick your ass.

But they probably won't, the idiots. D:

Hmm. I can't think of any apart for Wii sports and SSBB.

Zidane - October 5, 2006 09:13 AM (GMT)
Gonna get the Wii first, as to be able to play Wii/Gamecube games, because I don't have the Gamecube and there are some GC games I wish to obtain, as well as some Wii ones. I have a PS2 so I can go a year-or-so without a PS3, and I'll get one when *hopefully* prices drop.

Linoud - October 7, 2006 04:05 PM (GMT)
I'll be getting the Wii first.
Probably the PS3 after the price drops too. o_o;
Thats ONLY if the price drops too. And if there's actually any good games being made for it, I know that alot of the games on it, are going to get ported.

Raging Dragon - October 30, 2006 04:24 PM (GMT)
I'm getting Wii first. Then PS3 in a year or two...whenever the price drops...<_<

Now I just have to wish for a place that still has reservations for Wii. Or I can try my luck with trying to buy one at Best Buy on the first day. ;__;

Linoud - October 30, 2006 06:08 PM (GMT)
What happens if you preorder other than getting a Wii reserved? :o

Zidane - November 2, 2006 08:40 PM (GMT)
That price'll drop on the PS3 when they realize they're not getting nearly as many sales.

~ Kovu

Carl - November 13, 2006 02:46 PM (GMT)
lol....every single PS3 sold out in Japan in less than an hour.

I kinda hope it won't be like that in the UK because I don't want to wait any longer.
Hopefully the same will go for the Wii too, I want it to sell well but not TOO well so that there are none left for me ;P

Holliequ - November 13, 2006 06:00 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I didn't bother to preorder mine because the UK isn't well known for it's gaming community, but now I think I'm going to regret that T_T

Linoud - November 13, 2006 07:16 PM (GMT)
I'm not pre-ordering my Wii, I wont get to play it till X-mas anyway, and I'll be in England visiting relatives at X-Mas this year. Otherwise I would.

And it'll possibly be cheaper, considering January sales, etc. XD

But I hope to get it before I go, so I have stuffs to look forward to when I come back.
I've got more than enough for the Wii already. XD

Holliequ - November 13, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
You're going to England this Christmas? Funny, my Dad and Step-Mum are going to Ireland on Boxing Day! D:

Ireland Ireland, too, not Northern Ireland =D

Carl - November 14, 2006 07:55 AM (GMT)
Lawl, January sales are in January. So unless you're staying there till 5th Jan (when most stores start the sale) then good luck! =]

Also, they only sell out dated stock in the January sales.....I mean sure they will still have the Wiis on sale but it'll be no cheaper at all.

edit:
BUMP!
Wii comes out tomorrow for the UK D:

Linoud - December 7, 2006 05:47 PM (GMT)
And tomorrow for Ireland. D: My Moms letting me stay outta school tomorrow to go buy xmas clothes, I just found out about 10 minutes ago. Great, I could possibly get my Wii if they have it in stock. D: And my Dirge of Cerberus. B)

Carl - December 7, 2006 06:29 PM (GMT)
I'll hopefully get mine soon D:

Linoud - December 8, 2006 02:11 PM (GMT)
Lame, I have to wait till next Thursday to get one. I didn't pre-order anywhere so I couldn't buy it. :( I saw someone at a counter just in front of me while I was queuing walk away with THREE Wiis, and Two Zeldas. D:

If play.com restock soon then I'll probably get mine sometime around next week too ^_^

Holliequ - December 8, 2006 04:14 PM (GMT)
I'm supposed to be getting a ring from WHSmith to see if they got an order. =x

I was supposed to get I yesterday, actually.

Carl - March 23, 2007 08:18 AM (GMT)
Just got my PS3 5 mins ago.

Damn I wish I lived in London and preordered with Virgin megastores xD
They were the only store that had a midnight launch (the others were shut due to "suspicious terrorist activities" WTF xD)
not only were they supplied with tents and free food, coffee and coke from virgin for 2 days. Sony gave them all a free £2500 ($5000) high definition tv........bastids D:

Alls i'm getting for free is Xmen 3 on bluray.

Linoud - March 23, 2007 06:39 PM (GMT)
Yeah. I saw you post it elsewhere. Lucky bastids. I'd like a nice free 2500 pound HDTV. D:

But, grats on yer PS3, ye rich feck.

I'll get one eventually, I just need the price to drop alot. XD
