BG- Bene Gesserit, the Bene Gesserit sisterhood.
BH- Brian Herbert, son of Frank Herbert and co-author of the new Dune novels.
BJ- Butlerian Jihad.
BT- Bene Tlailax, Tlailaxu.
Ch:D- Chapterhouse: Dune, sixth novel in the original Dune chronicles by Frank Herbert.
CoD- Children of Dune, third novel in the original Dune chronicals by Frank Herbert. Can also mean the Sci-Fi Channel mini-series adaptation of that novel.
Dune 7&8- The new novels being written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson and are to be named "Hunters of Dune" and "Sandworms of Dune".
Dune Chronicals- A nickname for the original six novels written by Frank Herbert and taking place in the Dune universe
Dunehead- A nickname for a Dune fan.
DE- Dune Encyclopedia, an encyclopedia style fan-fiction work written by Frank Herbert's close friend, Dr. Willis E. McNelly. to which Frank Herbert wrote a Forward or Preface .
DM- Dune Messiah, second novel in the original Dune chronicals by Frank Herbert.
Duniverse- A nickname for the Dune universe.
FD- Face Dancers.
FH- Frank Herbert, author of the original Dune chronicals and many more novels, the author whose work is what this board is all about.
FS- Fish Speakers.
GEoD- God Emperor of Dune, the fourth novel in the original Dune chronicals by Frank Herbert.
HM- Honored Matres.
HoD- Heretics of Dune, fifth novel in the original Dune chronicals by Frank Herbert.
House Series- Three novels written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson which describe the events just prior to the original Dune novel.
KH- Kwisatz Haderach.
KJA- Kevin J. Anderson, co-author of the new Dune novels.
Legends Series- Three novels written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson which describe the events taking place prior and through the Butlerian Jihad.
Lynch Version- The film adaptation to Dune from 1984 by director David Lynch.
OM- Other Memory.
P&B\Pinky and the Brain- A nickname for Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
Prequels\Pre's- A nickname for both trilogies of books written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
Talifan- A nickname made up by Bob Eggleton and used by Kevin J. Anderson in his "Dune 7" blog to describe those of the hardcore Dune fans who see his work as low-graded. |
