Arrakeen F.A.Q.

What is this purpose of this board?
This board was created to bring together fans of the book series Dune written by Frank Herbert. This board Arrakeen also provides a discussion area for the new sequels and prequels by his son Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson.

I like the layout you have on this board, can I use it on my board?
No, you can not; this layout was designed by me specifically for Arrakeen.

When, and by whom was this board made?
Baron of the Mice, made this forum on 12-June 05. The next four members were Orald, Planetologist Umma Kynes, Pyr, Servant of the Sisterhood, and Crysknife, respectively. Pyr left soon after, so those members were then chosen as staff.

Who are the current staff members?
Look in this topic it will be updated whenever there is a staff member added.

OMG, I can't get to the board, what happened!?!
First thing to do is check your e-mail, and your spam folder just in case it got filtered there. If you still find nothing try PMing me (KillerMouse) at http://www.wormsscifi.com/haven/.

Can I edit and delete my own posts?
You may edit or delete your own posts at any time. Look for the edit icon/ delete icon on the post to be edited/deleted. No one else can edit your post, except for the forum moderator(s) or the message board administrators if your post contains a message that is abusive. If a forum leader edits your post, a note is generated at the bottom of each post that is edited so that every one knows when a post has been edited. Only registered members can edit or delete their posts.

What are user titles?
Each registered member has a title that shows his or her "rank" on this board. Administrators have the title "Administrator" and Staff members have the title "Dune Staf"/"Community Staff" depending on the forums they oversee. Some members are given special titles by the administration. All other users are given their titles based on the number of posts they have made. If you would like a custom member title, please PM a member of the Administration.

Can I attach files?
You may not attach files to any posts, for security reasons. You may cut and paste text into your post, however, or use HTML and/or UBB Code if enabled to provide hyperlinks to outside documents or files.

How can I change my registration profile?
You can modify the info in your profile using the link "My controls" or by simply clicking your name that is situated on the top left of the page. You must be logged in order to update your profile.

Can I upload an Avatar Image of my own?
You are allowed to upload a custom avatar from your computer or from a online avatar image (requires URL for the latter). There is also a Base Gallery where you can choose avatars from.

Can I search?
You can search for topics made by a registered member by viewing their profile and clicking where it says Find all topics by this member. Unfortunatley you cannot search for individual post by members at the moment however we do hope to add this feature at some point in the future.

What are Today's Active Topics?
The message board has a link on the bottom of the page called "Today's Active Topics" where you can view a list of topics that have been posted during the current day.
