Title: Dragon-City.org - The Ultimate Fan Site
Description: Latest News & Updates
The Furox - May 27, 2005 12:06 AM (GMT)
www.Dragon-City.org is now online!
Come visit the first Dragon Booster Fan Site to hit the net where you'll find all sorts of useful information consolidated in one place.
I've always wanted to create a fan site for one of my favorite shows but someone else had always beaten me to it. For once, I got here first and launched my own site. So take a look and see what you think.
The site is still a work in progress, but I've got enough in place that I thought it was worth going live with it. For starters, there is an episode guide with writing and directing credits, a cast list, a mythology section, a merchandise list, a list of forums, and links to other related sites.
Coming soon will be plot summaries and reviews of all episodes, a character list, a behind the scenes section, and a trivia and FAQ section.
I did my best to try and make the site interesting to look at. It certainly won't win any design awards, but I think it's a least a bit more fun to look at than say tvtome.com. Among other things, I plan to add some stuff written in Draconian here and there to make it fit the theme of the show better.
The server hosting the site at the moment is a little slow so there may be some small delays when loading pages the first time. I plan to move the site to a better server once the traffic picks up to where it matters.
If you have any feedback about how to make it better or for other things you'd like to see included on the site, please post it or email me directly.
Thanks.

Congrats. :)
Is looking good, and hasn't been any slower for me than dial-up normally is.
ShadowCat - May 27, 2005 01:30 AM (GMT)
Nice site, and it wasn't slow for me either.
hyperpsychomaniac - May 27, 2005 05:17 AM (GMT)
Hey, thats cool. Not real flash, but it does look good.

Thanks for comments!
I linked all the cast and crew names on the "Beau's Chronicles" page back to the appropriate pages on tvtome.com. So if you want to see everything Raul Inglis or Mark Oliver have worked on, for example, just click their names. I plan to continue adding stuff as time permits.

Did anyone happen to write down the air dates of the episodes in Australia? I'd like to add that to the archival information on the web site. I can probably deduce them from the dates the discussion threads were started, but if someone had them written down it would probably be more accurate.
Also, if anyone has the UK air dates I'd like those as well. (I already have the Canadian air dates for the episodes that have aired so far.)
Thanks for any help.

Flip back a couple of months
Here.That should tell you. :)
The Furox - June 9, 2005 05:08 PM (GMT)
Cool. And they even have the episode titles and descriptions. Thanks!
Pyrrah - June 13, 2005 12:50 AM (GMT)
Drac site! I'm so glad there is FINALLY a fan site! Been Googling for months! Anyways, I hope you add some printables, or graphics for cards, or games! That would be cool!
The Furox - June 13, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
Thanks! You've been to the official show site, haven't you? There are a couple of images you can download there along with the Draconian font. There's also a game you can play there. The Dragon Booster trading card game is also decent. I've played and it's fun. You can buy the cards cheap on eBay and get a couple of your friends interested.
Just out of curiosity, how did you find your way to this board?
Pyrrah - June 13, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
I found this board through the fan site
http://www.dragon-city.org/It's a really good site, with a link to all the Dragon Booster forums. That's how I came to be here!
The Furox - June 13, 2005 07:13 PM (GMT)
That's great! I was hoping the site would bring more fans together. Could I ask how you found dragon-city.org? I'm just curious how far the word has spread. Thanks.
Pyrrah - June 13, 2005 11:51 PM (GMT)
Didn't you join the Score Board? If you did, then I saw the link on your profile. I think! :D
The Furox - June 14, 2005 01:54 AM (GMT)
Yes, that was me! I'm "The Furox" on that board as well (as well as on the tvtome.com forum). Glad to hear someone was looking at my postings there. It's cool how powerful the web is for linking things together. Thanks indulging me with my questions on how you found this board. It's always nice to know which paths people follow.
Pyrrah - June 14, 2005 02:08 AM (GMT)
Thanks alot for the site! And, I enjoyed answering your questions!
Pyrrah - June 18, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)
When will the site be updated? I can't wait!
The Furox - June 19, 2005 02:36 AM (GMT)
I've been making some cosmetic enhancements here and there. They're probably too small to notice, but I added more frame captures here and there to spruce it up more. Also, I've been updating the "Latest News" section on the home page from time to time.
The biggest thing I've done recently was to post the first episode summary. It was for "Rules of Power." You may have seen my posting about it in the other thread. It took a bit of work since it's not only the text summary, but I pulled about two dozen frames to highlight the major elements.
If anyone has any feedback about whether or not I did a good job on this summary, I'd like to hear it before I go off and write the others. You can comment on anything from the page layout, level of detail in the summary, tone, whether it was easy to understand which of the frames corresponding which sections of text, and so on.
Of course, the summary is loaded with spoilers and gives away the ending, so anyone who hasn't seen this episode yet might not want to look.
LightningFlash - June 19, 2005 07:04 AM (GMT)
The summary was great, as were the screen caps. But I think you meant bond instead of bound. :)
Pyrrah - June 20, 2005 12:08 AM (GMT)
Just read the episode summary! Wonderful job, but where do you get all those pictures?
Sparx - June 20, 2005 02:59 AM (GMT)
Great site! I'd like to know how you got the screen captures as well. I can get some but ABC's reception is pretty bad out here so I haven't bothered taping any of the eps.
The Furox - June 20, 2005 06:20 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the feedback (I fixed the bound/bond typo, thanks!). It's quite easy to get the frames: I simply take the s-video output of my Tivo based DirecTV satellite receiver which has a built-in hard disk recorder where I store all the episodes and run it through a box that converts it to DV format and outputs it to a FireWire connection. I plug the FireWire cable into my Apple PowerBook and record the episode onto the PowerBook's hard drive using the iMovie application. Once it's all there, I can use iMovie to scrub through the episode and easily pick out the frames I want and save them as Tiff images. Then I have an automated script that processes each frame I grabbed through Adobe Photoshop to adjust the color balance, contrast and brightness. Then it re-sizes them down to the thumbnail size and applies sharpening to enhance the focus. It then saves each image out as a standard jpeg file. Then I just upload them all the web server and integrate them into the web page using DreamWeaver. Like I said, easy. (No surprise that the personality quiz said I was most like Parmon, huh.)
LightningFlash - June 20, 2005 09:52 AM (GMT)
Sounds fun. I think I need your job.
The Furox - June 21, 2005 11:49 PM (GMT)
I wish my real job were this much fun. It's more tedious and stressful than I would like. At least doing things like this and watching animation is a way to balance it out and keep me sane. ... That is assuming watching cartoons and creating fan web sites about them can be considered sane. ;)
LightningFlash - June 22, 2005 12:10 AM (GMT)
I can think of worse pasttimes. And hey, it's not like we're alone. :)
The Furox - June 23, 2005 07:01 AM (GMT)
Yep, it's always nice to have company. ^_^
The Furox - July 24, 2005 10:09 PM (GMT)
I just moved the web site to a new server. It will take 1-2 days for the DNS change to propagate around the internet. While this happens, you'll get a "coming soon" page if you access dragon-city.org. In the meantime, you can reach the site directly by using this link:
http://70.85.201.82/~dragont/Just FYI.
The Furox - July 27, 2005 02:06 AM (GMT)
The DNS change should have fully propagated by now so the dragon-city.org domain name should be working everywhere. If not, please let me know. If you have a high speed internet connection, the site should load much faster now (though you probably won't notice if you're on dial-up).
Also, if you have a home page, blog or live journal, you can help me improve the search engine ranking for my fan site. One of the main things google looks at in determining where to rank a particular site is how many other sites link to that site. The more sites that link to a given site, the higher google will rank that site in the search results. If you'd like to help increase the ranking of dragon-city.org, just do these two things:
1. Place a link to
http://www.dragon-city.org somewhere on your home page, blog or live journal. (It has to be an actual link and not just text.) The text portion of the link can say something like "Dragon Booster Fan Site". Google looks at the words and if they match keywords on the site itself, it helps boost the ranking.
2. Go over to google and submit
your page. This way google will see your page with the link to dragon-city.org on it.
Click here to go to google's submission page.3. Go over to yahoo and do the same.
Click here to go to yahoo's submission page.Important: Only submit your own page to google. Please
do not submit dragon-city.org. I've already submitted it and google doesn't like it if people submit the same site multiple times. If the same page is submitted too many times, they can penalize you by dropping the site from their index.
This will help get dragon-city.org on the map. Your help is greatly appreciated!
Sparx - August 7, 2005 12:02 AM (GMT)
I'll put a link to it on my LJ.
The Furox - August 7, 2005 12:56 AM (GMT)
Thanks, Sparx! I appreciate it.
Skylii - August 15, 2005 11:18 PM (GMT)
Hey, Furox, new episode of Dragon Booster airing in Canada. Date: August 15. Episode name: Leap of Lorius. Thought it would be useful for your webbie. ;)
The Furox - August 15, 2005 11:42 PM (GMT)
You folks are lucky. I don't think they'll air any new episodes here until sometime in September.
Thanks for the info! I definitely would like to know when episodes air in other countries so I can add it to the historical archives. Thanks for keeping me informed.
Skylii - August 15, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)
No problem. :) Now that Dragon Booster's into Season 2 Mondays through Thursdays, I'll be sure to be taking notes.
Skylii - August 17, 2005 01:37 AM (GMT)
Date: August 16
Episode Title: The Wraith Booster
Mushy-ness. Cute-ness. Not bad, actually.
Your shameless spoilers: Does Artha play the hero? No, in fact, he turns evil from something.
So who's the hero, AND the REBEL?
I'll give you a hint. *screams high-pitched and glomps Moordryd* Yay, my hero boy! :D
Moordryd:...get off me!
Skylii - August 18, 2005 01:00 AM (GMT)
Date: August 17
Episode Title: Artha the Drac
"Drac" is the last thing I consider on my list with THIS episode. <_<
LightningFlash - August 18, 2005 02:03 AM (GMT)
What's wrong with it? Or does the title say all? :P
The Furox - August 18, 2005 08:09 AM (GMT)
Wow, that's a lot of new episodes all at once. I wonder how long they're going to keep that up. By the way, I also noticed the CBC schedule shows Dragon Booster showing in a 1 hour block on Saturday mornings. Are those re-runs? Just wondering.
Thanks for episode titles and dates! I loaded them up on the site.
Skylii - August 18, 2005 11:53 PM (GMT)
You're welcome, but since today just showed a re-run of "Into the Fire", now I'm not so sure about Season 2 completely being done yet...Ryshah or somebody else from Canada might watch the Saturday Back-2-Back, since my family and I are going to the Columbia Icefields the morning, and I'm not sure if I can program my TV to tape it at the right time and stop when it stops or whatever, and I'm not sure what time I'm leaving, early (hope not) or late, so yeah, I'm stuck.
I just noticed, but Captain Faiar of Dragon City security is done by Trevor, Vociferous is done by Sam, and Vociferous' assistant Spynn is done by Lenore.

Added a little convenience thing to dragon-city.org:
I added a short cut to get to this forum so you don't have to remember the long invisionfree.com URL. Just type:
forum.dragon-city.organd it will automatically redirect you to this forum. I'm sure everyone here has this forum bookmarked already, but this might be handy if you're away from your regular computer and want to get here easily.
