Title: Quote's And/or Quoting
Description: Quoting multiple members on singal post

Professor Parmon - February 22, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
 I need to know how to Quote multiple members on singal post.
 PLEASE HELP ME, I don't know <_<

Mari - February 22, 2006 09:38 PM (GMT)
Oh, just copy their post (like the words) and then paste it in your post. Highlight it and click the button that says 'Quote' on the above text box bar thingy (Where you can chage font, size, color, bold, italic, underline, etc)

That should do it! :D

Unfortunately, the board doesn't support this directly. But you can do it yourself by opening multiple windows or tabs if you're using a tabbed browser like Safari, Mozilla or Firefox (and if you're not using a tabbed browser, then what are you waiting for! :D :D)

Here's how I do it. I use this method because it automatically includes the original poster's name along with the date and time of the original posting without having to type it in manually:

1. Quote the first posting you want to reply to and compose your reply as normal, including editing the quote down to just the essentials.

2. When that's done, hit Preview to get it to merge the quote with your response in the text entry box. This is just the standard procedure so far.

3. Open a new tab with control-T (or new browser window if you're using an old fashion browser) and navigate your way to the next posting you want to include quoted text from in the reply. Hit Quote and repeat steps 1 & 2 with this posting in this new tab/window.

4. After hitting Preview in this tab/window to merge the quoted text and your response, select and copy all the text in the text entry box (control-A followed by control-C).

5. Go back to the first tab/window where you started and then paste (control-V) the text from step 4 into the reply you started there.

6. Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 for each additional quote you want to include.

7. When everything in the preview looks right (look out for unbalanced QUOTE blocks), then the last step is spell check. ;) I hit control-A, control-C, control-T in sequence to select and copy all the text and open a new tab. Then I hit my quick link to spellcheck.net and hit control-V to paste the text into the spell check box and hit the spell check button. Once I fix my spelling errors and typos, it's time to hit Add Reply and you're done!

Wouldn't it nice if the board had check boxes next to each posting you wanted to reply to and you could set it all up at once... And wouldn't it be nice if it had built-in spell check... <_<

Ok. My turn to help. Copy the selected text. THEN PRESS THIS BUTTON >QUOTE< and this should appear. [ QUOTE] *without the space* and then, paste the copied text. When you finish copying the text, click again the same button >QUOTE< and this should appear. [ /QUOTE]

LIKE THIS.

[ QUOTE] *information or copied text goes here* [ /QUOTE]

I hope that this helps!!!!

I am trying to do the same type of thing as is following

Form one of furox's posts>>

QUOTE (Skylii @ Feb 18 2006, 07:41 PM)
And just HOW did he manage to get so much loyalty from Moordryd from the start?

That does happen kind of fast, doesn't it. rolleyes.gif But I think by the time "Still Waters Freeze" rolls around, Moordryd has reached the point where he has realized that his father will never approve of him. People can be vulnerable when they reach realizations like that and I think Moordryd was looking for a new path at that point. Plus Moordryd, like his father, clearly thinks having power is the answer to things. Armeggaddon basically shows up at the right time and tells Moordryd what he wants to hear and offers him a path to power.

QUOTE (Cepheus @ Feb 18 2006, 08:40 PM)
But remember, Moordryd is desperate for his father's approval, is desperate to beat the Dragon Booster, and is desperate to prove himself.

Yes, I agree that's what's going on here. Moordryd kept the bone mark of the Furox for himself and used it to try and oppose/impress his father, and in some ways he's basically repeating that with the amulet. So there is a pattern here that seems to fit Moordryd's character.

Ah, that's helpful. I usually just end up quoting stuff without it saying who did it, but that might work a little better. :D
