Title: A Rant From Your Admin.
LightningFlash - February 14, 2006 02:04 AM (GMT)
The
rules are there to be read and followed. I am sick of shoving the
rules in peoples' faces and still having them ignored. I delete on average three signatures a day because people ignore the signature
rules. I delete and edit countless posts every day because people ignore image quoting, typing, and spamming
rules, and I undoubtedly miss many more posts that
should be deleted.. I am aware of and accept the fact that this is my job as admin. I am also aware that the members of this board seem capable of following competition rules, of using sites such as
spellcheck.net, and of finding the shift key on their keyboards. The
rules aren't their because I enjoy being a control freak, they are there to make this board friendly for
everyone. When I stumble onto a message board based on something I like, but can't see a hint of intelligent life through the haze of netspeak, I'm not going to join that board. If I'm trying to access a message board that is so overloaded with images that it takes an eternity to load, I will not bother waiting.
It is a requirement that all members of this board read and abide by the
rules. They are not unfair, nor are they difficult to follow, or asking very much.
Rant pt. 2: When PMing me with a question/request/suggestion etc, would you please say
hello? I don't appreciate having orders and demands thrown at me without even a hint of politeness. Not all members are guilty of this, but a depressingly large number are.
Rant pt. 3: This is going to sound snobbish, but that can't be helped.
I am the admin. It is not your place to inform members whether or not they are allowed to be members of this forum, or if their behaviour is wrong. I appreciate that you want to help, but quite often you do not know the full story, or give bad advice. You are here to discuss Dragon Booster. I am here to tell members when they are out of line. I also do not appreciate my name being used to back your threats. IE: "LightningFlash the Admin is a friend of mine and I'll make sure she . . . "
I think that's all (for now). ;)

I used to be REALLY bad about my spelling and capalization; Now I'm not! :D I am trying to follow the rules, honest! If I break them, I do my best to fix it. Sorry if I'm annoying.
I'm sorry, but when I last PM-ed you, did I say 'hello'? If not, I AM SERIOUSLY SORRY AND FEEL REALLY GUILTY ABOUT IT!!!
And you have the RIGHT to rant; some people on this board seriously are incompetent and refuse to follow the rules. I won't point fingers, well, because I admit that I am incompetent, but at least I try to follow the rules. When I had a board (It was called 'Raven's Temple') I had to constently yell at people for not following the rules and generally being stupid. Luckily, the board remained small before it died, but never the less, it was awful constantly yelling. :) I hope you feel better about the board soon, Flash. We really do appreciate you here. (No, I'm not trying to kiss up, honest. I like having an admin who CARES about the rules. I've been to some boards where it is seriously AWFUL)

Would you maybe want to consider signing up a couple of people as moderators to help with the administration of the board? Then you could share the load a bit and it won't seem quite so overwhelming.
Of course being a recent member I have no idea who might be a good candidate for a moderator, but that's completely up to you.
This is merely a suggestion however, feel free to disregard it.
Thanks for your time and also I'm sorry if I have broken any of the rules. :)

I know this is off topic, but perhaps there should be a rule about images. Many dragons designed by people have LOTS of blank space on them. Should we have a rule that says all edited images should be cropped so there isn't TONS of blank white space?
Here are some examples:
http://s10.invisionfree.com/Dragon_Booster...p?showtopic=817The second dragon has TONS of blank white space.
http://s10.invisionfree.com/Dragon_Booster...topic=511&st=30Some have a bunch of blank space, but not as bad as the first link.

I'll PM the Topic starter.
Mari - February 16, 2006 11:46 PM (GMT)

LightningFlash - February 17, 2006 01:43 AM (GMT)
No probs, thanks for telling me. :)

You are right. Proper grammer is very helpful in making the message easier to understand. It shows people read through their messages before sending them. ;)
