Ok new episodes are being shown so I am back to taking screen caps. Since I have run out of room on my photobucket account I shall host these screen caps on a website that I will set up over the next few days. For now here are some samples of the size and quality since I am using a different method of recording these episodes (long story short we let the magic smoke out of the DVD recorder...litterly).

Comments about the quality and size are welcomed as well as requests.

At the moment I am having difficulty with quality when I encode the file. I have managed to get the bitrate and the compression ok but I still loose some fo the quality. I have a few more combinations to try out before I go for the one that is ok to watch. However for capping purposes the quality isn't that good for those who want to get references for stuff. So what I might do is this - I'll keep the file (a bit over 1GB hence why I want to compress it) for a week or 2 so that if anyone has requests you can let me know before I delete the file. After that you would have to put up with a slightly less quality pic (but it is a bit better to what the DVD recordings had).

But I am having fun exploring all these settings with Dr DIVX :lol:

Those are great images, Nashy-Bear! Great quality and widescreen! B) Are you on a digital cable system or are you close enough to the station to get an off-air signal that good? Just curious. :)

The ones they will be showing this year (basically from The Mechanist onwards).

I don't have cable, I get the free to air stuff. However the hardware I am using taps into the digital frequency of the free channels. Also the transmitting tower here isn't that far from me and it is on a mountain (it was a pretty sight seeing it go up in flames a few years ago).

If anyone has any requests better let me know soon as I will be deleting the original file in a week.

I am going to edit the screenshot page so that there are 50 or 75 thumbnails each page to make it a bit more dial up friendly (thanks Elginman for the suggestion).

Good stuff. I take it that it's in hi-def as well judging by the quality?

It's not in hi-def. They are there on the channel list but Dad said if we recorded on the hi-def channels it would turn out wobbly. These screenshots are taken from the file after I endocded it with 1 pass at 4000 bitrate with Dr DIXV. The computer doesn't like the original file that much (I can't go backwards on it) and when I take a screenshot the dimentions are wrong. Luckily hardly any quality is lost when I encode it but the file is still big.

Ok I've updated the page and now they are divided into 50 per page.

Cool. That's an impressive quality image for a standard def signal, even considering that it's digital.

All the main networks here are in hi-def now, but naturally Dragon Booster doesn't show on any of those channels. <_< Eventually, all the channels will have to convert to hi-def, but sadly Dragon Booster will probably end its run long before that ever happens. <_< <_<

Maybe I should just move to Australia... :)


When Darkness Falls - those are a great set of screen shots you did. Could I request a few extra images to round it out?

It would be great to get a few more shots of the baby black dragons and also some more of the adults. There are several good shots of the adults baring their teeth and looking mean. Things like that would be nice to have. It would also be nice to try and find a few shots of the dragons after they're turned back to red dragons. Finally, it would be nice to have some shots of Decepshun nosing around the black pod before it zaps her and perhaps the shot where she gets zapped.

If you can get these, then that would be great. But don't worry about it if you can't.

In any event, thanks for taking the time to get all these great quality images! :)

I got more screenshots of the baby black dragons, the adult stage and a few red dragons. You can find these on the last page HERE. Like I said in the 'When Darkness Falls' thread I accidently recorded the hi-def chanel and the file was pixelated in some parts. One of these parts was Decepshun sniffing the black pod so I can't get a screenshot of that. If they do show Dragon Booster on ABC2 I'll retape this episode.

If anyone has any requests for 'The Mechanist' speak up now as I will be deleting the large file in 2-3 days. You can still request schreenshots but the quality won't be as high as these.

Would it be possible for you to upload the different episode captures in some sort of zip file for convient download? It would deffinately save some time, because I love all these pics it just takes forever to save them all.

Of course I can undertand if you can't, but thanks all the same. ^_^

Thanks so much for the extra screen shots, Nashy-Bear! You captured a great selection. Just what I wanted to see! Such cute little evil dragons. ^_^

If you ever have an opportunity to get those extra shots of Decepshun, that would be great. But don't feel you need to go far out of your way. I appreciate the ones you've done already.

And as DargonXKS said, if it would be possible to make a zip file available for each episode without going to too much trouble, then that would be really nice to have as well. ;)

Might I request the Horn of Libris pictures? You know how I am with my Mechanist crew obsession.... :D :lol: But I do think that I have everything I could ever want from The Mechanist. You took plenty of pictures with and without his hood, I can see his eyes and overall, I have everything I could ever want. :D

Do you mean the actual horn or from the episode with that name? Sorry I am kinda distracted by a cyclone nearby at the moment. I have zipped the files and waiting to upload them (server has been busy). I did think about putting up zip files but I must have forgotten it. Thanks for suggesting/reminding me about the zip files.

The episode please. :D I'm particularly interested in getting a side shot when Libris is chasing Cyrano; we see a nearly complete side view for a split second while Kitt is running up to Libris. If you can't get it, whatever, but that is what I am requesting. I know that you are in college and that you have homework and have a life outside of Dragon Booster, so I won't nag. :wub: :D

'The Return of Drakkus, Part 1' was shown a few hours ago and I'll be taking screenshots tomorrow. So if anyone has any requests speak up now so I can include them in the collection and so I can put up the zip file earlier (I would rather put up the zip file after all the requests have come in so that I don't need to upload it a few times with the new screenshots).

Mari I can't give you the screenshots because I don't have 'The Horn of Libris' episode. So far I only have 'Faster Than Fear' onwards. When ABC repeats some episodes I'll try and get them.

It would be great if you could get a clear shot of the text on the wall so we could try decoding it to see if there's anything interesting in it. We might be able to see more of it in widescreen than I can see here. And any good shots of the characters with their dragons is always good as well. ;)

A FEW DAYS LATER

*finally finishes thinking* ........ Uuh, for a REALLY long time. Probably I can wait until I get old and wrinkly and can't stand up. :D Besides, the longer the wait is, usually the better the thing you're waiting for seems when you finally get it. :D

Oh yeah, did you add more pics to your Photobucket account? I think you may have because I don't recognize some of the screens and I've been through those albums sooo many times it isn't even funny. Just wondering if you did or not. Thanks! :D

No I haven't added more pics to my photobucket account. Haven't touched it since last year. I am slowly uplaoding the pics to my webpage but Dad decided to download a heap of stuff thus using up most of the traffic (as a result I can't connect to my webhost). I hope to be able to upload the next lost of screenshots by next week.

EDIT: Screenshots for The Return of Drakkus Part 1 are now up. Part 2 will be screened soon so if anyone has any particular requests speak up now so I can grab them when I go through the episode.

If you haven't read already they are repeating DB here in Oz and I plan to record them. If anyone has any requests for the first season episodes drop a comment in here (so far I have 'Fanning the Flames'). Don't worry Mari I know what you want ^_^ they should be showing 'The Horn of Libris' in 2 days or at least sometime this week.

I'll keep the higher quality files (I use them for screen capping) till the weekend, except for Thursday and Friday episodes which will be deleted on Monday (these files are a bit large). If you want I can post up what episodes will be shown for the week so you all can get in early with any requests.
