Title: The Stand
Description: Episode six

I did not see this episode. Can anyone tell me what happened in the episode?
The Furox - August 9, 2005 06:32 AM (GMT)
The short summary is that Word plots to steal Artha's red and blue dragon (not knowing of course that he's also the gold dragon) and turn him into a wraith dragon to use to capture the gold dragon.
The longer summary would be that Word figures he needs a fast and strong dragon to capture the gold dragon. He's seen Artha racing Beau and decides the red and blue dragon is the one he wants. To get Beau, Word offers Artha the green ramming gear he needs to advance to higher level races. Artha accepts the gear but it turns out that it's actually black draconium wraith dragon control gear in disguise. Artha puts the gear on Beau and Word is able to get control of him. Artha then has the problem of getting Beau back before Word realizes that he's actually captured the gold dragon he's been looking for.
I'm not sure where you're located, but if you're in the US then "The Stand" will re-run on the ABC Family channel on August 14th.

I'm located in southeast asia and I'm afraid that Dragon Booster is not shown here yet (if it is going to be shown at all). That is why I'm really hoping for the DVDs to be released soon. Any idea when the DVDs will be available on Amazon.com or other places?
I have little info on this show but I'm already very interested in it.

Ah, southeast Asia. Then you must be one of the people visiting my
dragon-city.org fan site from that part of the world. The web site stats have registered hits coming from Malaysia and Singapore, so I assume that must be you in there somewhere. Anyway, welcome to the group! :)
I don't know of an exact release date for the DVDs, but Score announced on their web site it would be sometime late this year. One would guess they'd really want them in the stores before Christmas, and if that's true, we should start seeing the online retailers taking pre-orders within the next 1-2 months. They're also supposed to be releasing a video game, action figures, T-shirts and an expansion for the trading card game. So it looks like they're going to do a big marketing blitz as season 2 starts up here.
In the meantime, I coincidentally have a couple copies of the episode "The Stand" on DVD to give away. We're going to do another funny caption contest once we get enough people together to make it worthwhile. Check out the thread over in the General Discussion section.
I'd be curious to know how you found out about Dragon Booster given that it's not airing where you are and how you found your way here. (I'm not trying to pry, just interested in how news spreads.)

How did I find out about Dragon Booster?
It started when I was searching the TV Tome site and the Dragon Booster title appeared. Curious, I went in and that is how I got to know about Dragon Booster.
And some months later, I found my way to dragon-city.org through wikipedia and from there, I followed the link to this forum.
So to be honest, all the information I had about Dragon Booster is whatever I could grab from the web like trailers, ep guides, etc. But I still want to see the show with my own eyes. The entire series on DVD is something I really want.

I'd love to have the whole series on dvd as well. I've only seen a couple of episodes but ABC usually repeats stuff so I'll probably have a chance to catch up on what I've missed.

If Beau had turned into a wraith dragon, what does the transformation sequence look like starting from Beau being equipped with the fake green gear?
And how did Beau break free?

Okay, taped this eppie the other day, and here's some stuff I got.
-Kitt is not in this eppisode.
-Just about all Lance does, other than get chased by a dragon stampede, is play his VIID-games.
-While Word doesn't turn around, couldn't Artha have known the guy's voice, or at least the clawwed fingers?
-Parm and Artha are chatting about competion Lvs. I think it's in reverse order, with level four at the bottom, and levekl one at the top.
-Word says, "Everyone knows you Artha." then "I can make you a famous racer Artha." If everyone knew him, isn't he famous? And what about Artha thr Drac, episode 20? Nobody even cared that Artha was racing!
-Cain seems to value crew symbols being on the forhead. Oh the helment he wears to trick Artha, a Dragon-Flares symbol is on the forehead .
-and finally: Parm seems to play a Mortis role in most of the eppie. Mortis only has a short appearence.

I think Word meant that everyone knows Artha because he's the son of Connor Penn, the famed dragon breeder, but Artha isn't famous in his own right. Word's playing into Artha's character flaw of wanting instant stardom.

Yes, and didn't they even boo him? It's inconsistent for sure. There's also "Misjudged" where Artha and Parm are cheered when they're introduced in the drag-ball arena. So it doesn't make sense for Artha to get booed then in "Artha the Drac".
I think we'll just have to call this artistic license on the part of the writers since they're clearly using the crowd reactions to quickly establish that the audience should be viewing Artha as an underdog in this race.

Yes, indeed. Characters can swap roles around and different characters can be mentor or hero at different points. Moordryd has a strong hero role in "Wraith Booster" (though anti-hero is probably more accurate). I think this helps keep the stories interesting and there certainly aren't very many animated TV series where they do things like this. In most shows, the roles are rigidly defined and never vary. It's more fun when things swap around.

Well, Dragon Booster is finally broadcasted in my area and here's a summary of 'The Stand' for those that are interested:
Moodryd and Cain are capturing dragons to be turned into wraith dragons. Artha, as the Dragon Booster, showed up and freed the dragons.
Back at Word’s hideout, Word has a new plan to capture the black and gold dragon using a new wraith dragon. The dragon he wants is no other than Artha’s Beau (Blue, white and red colour).
The next day, Cain, in disguised, gave Artha a card to a person that wanted to sponsor him. Artha met the sponsor, who turns out to be Word (not showing his face), and he gave Artha a level-6 Green ramming gear.
During the race, Artha tries to get Beau to mag the new green gear but Beau refuses and Artha forcibly mag the gear onto him. At this point, Word activates the gear and gains partial control over Beau and he also instructed Moodryd to create trouble to lure the Dragon Booster out. Controlling Beau, Word ‘helps’ Artha win the race in first place. After the race, Artha, Parmon and Lance noticed that something was wrong when Beau couldn’t remove the gear. Artha decided to take Beau to Mortis.
Meanwhile, Moordryd and Cain created a dragon stampede that Parmon and Lance got caught in.
On their way to see Mortis, Word gains control of Beau again and made Beau run away from Artha. Artha went to see Mortis and showed him a piece of the gear that had broken off. Mortis scratched it and revealed that it was a Black Draconium gear painted green. At that moment, the news showed the dragon stampede and Artha transformed into the Dragon Booster to get there. Beau, who has turned into an invisible wraith dragon, is also in the stampede.
After narrowly escaping from getting trampled to death by the oncoming stampede, Artha called out to Beau and somehow Beau managed to break free from the gear, turning back into his black and gold colour (Word’s visual equipment broke down and he did not see the transformation). After slowing down the stampede to save Parmon and Lance, Beau somehow managed to stopped the stampede on his own and all the dragons in the stampede bow down before him.

This is like, my favourite eppie..... It's quite hard to choose. But this one is at the top of the list.
Arthapenn - April 13, 2008 10:02 AM (GMT)
It was not nice of Word to take control of Beau. He was not aware he was capturing the black and gold dragon! The way Beau knocked off the Wraith Gear was fun. I loved it.
