Professor Parmon - January 4, 2006 04:50 AM (GMT)
This is my first summery posting so please bare with me. I would like comments on how I improve my next post. Thanks.
This is a quickie from TV.com I am including a more detailed one after. Possible spoilers in that one! You were warned.
“As Word Payne introduces his new type of black dragon, the wraith dragons, Moordryd challenges Phistus, the leader of the Down City Crew Council, in order to become the new leader, and it is up to Artha to stop this.”
Spoilers Ahead. You were warned!
Word Payne has again come up with a new plan to start his Dragon Human war. His plan is to have Moordryd and the Dragon Eyes frame Phistus, the leader of the Down City Crew Council and his crew for a robbery. Once they have been framed, Moordryd can then challenge Phistus to a Dragon Jousting match, and when he wins he can take over control of the Down City Crew Council. If Moordryd has control of the Down City Council his father can use him as the leader to steer the Council toward a Dragon Human war.
In order for Moordryd to win against the undefeated Dragon Jousting Champion Word introduces his new type of black dragon, these “Wraith” dragons are covered with Black Mind Control & Invisibility Gear. Using this new type of Dragon under the control of Cain on the sidelines, Moordryd defeats Phistus. But to everyone’s surprise the Dragon Booster à Artha shows up to challenge Moordryd. Again Moordryd and Cain use the Wraith dragon to try and defeat Artha. On the sidelines however Parm & Lance have clued into this little trick and figured out a way to stop the Wraith dragon by jamming it’s remote signal.
By the time they jam the signal Artha has taken a beating; he has been knocked off once. Artha gets one hit on Moordryd before the jamming signal is lost. After losing there jamming signal on the third run Artha is almost knocked off but get back on the saddle and they go again. On the fourth run Lance notices Cain with a remote and sends his toy jousting dragon to run over Cain’s foot and send the remote falling to the ground, smashing on contact and disabling the Wraith’s gear and making it visible for all to see. A little late to stop Artha from being knocked off again.
However now that the wraith is visible the race marshal declares Dragon Booster the winner because of the cheating. After being declared the winner Artha hands the control of the Down City Crew Council back to Phistus. Moordryd tries to stop this be bringing up the “robbery” and Artha proves that Phistus was actually Framed, and says to the crowd that Phistus is the rightful leader of the Down City Crew Council.

One thing that never quite resolved right in this episode: Moordryd and Artha both bet their dragons on the outcome of the joust. Artha won, so how come he didn't take Decepshun from Moordryd? Was Artha just being a nice guy, or did he not want her since he already had the gold dragon legend? Or is it just another plot hole... :P
Airshadow - January 4, 2006 12:25 PM (GMT)
I guess that both, and I doubt that Decepshum would obey him
Skylii - January 5, 2006 02:32 AM (GMT)
I'm guessing nice guy. What would you do with another dragon?
This episode was okay, but not one of the ones that were my favorites.
Biggest mistake in this episode was whatever that quote really was word-for-word or whatever:
| QUOTE |
Parm: Strange though...there's no rider...which means - Lance: It's remote-controlled! |
THANK YOU, for later on changing that up. *relieved sigh*

Perhaps nothing, but it would have put Moordryd at a disadvantage for awhile at least. Seeing as Moordryd is helping Word work against Artha, it would have been wise to take the advantage there. But in reality, I think it's a plot hole.
A related question to ponder: if the winner had really claimed the other's dragon, would the dragon really have allowed him or herself to be traded? Beau clearly believes in trying to fulfill the prophecy and stop the war, so would he have willingly gone over to Word's side? Likewise, would Decepshun really have left Moordryd? She seems pretty loyal to him, too.

I don't think so. These early eps treat dragons like street cars, things you bet over. No dragon would go over to another side because of a bet.
Would YOU go over to a strange person who had won you? I don't think so.
Wonder if that hammer Phistus had was ceremonial, or his own? We don't see it in his other starring roles, so I guess it's a symbol of power, like a crown or a headdress.
And, what did Phistus smash it into at the begining of the episode? If he does that to get order, the council chambers must be in really bad shape.
Phistus: SMASH SMASH SMASH SMASH! SILENCE!
Secretary: Here's the repair bill, Phistus.
Phistus: (dies)

I think it's a draconium non mag-staff/jakk-stick/crowbar weapon of his. I've seen him with it in "Fanning the Flames" and a couple more. Guess it's his idea of a gavel. :P

PLOTHOLE ALERT!
Both when we're in the DC council chamber, and when Artha's about to fall, we see a guy with a Prophet's symbol on his uniform. Plus, thanks to a screenshot album by Sparx, I noticed that there is also a Prophet's banner. I thought that almost nobody knew about them!
The only screenshot I could find was of the banner, so here it is!
Cepheus - January 8, 2006 06:28 PM (GMT)
Well, the Prophets are a crew, right? Maybe they just have a banner for all the crews.
Skylii - January 8, 2006 08:18 PM (GMT)
Oh, trust me, Kereea, you're not the only one who noticed that. ;)
I'm gonna have to go with Cepheus for that. The Keepers aren't even there, and their banner's up. Plus, perhaps people just support the secret crews or whatnot. Either that or it's just something added in for character models.

I'm feeling real sorry for the Arthurian legends.
Did anyone notice that the Down City Crew Council (DCCC?) has a round table? Gah...
I loved the end.
Lance: Hey, where's my toy dragon?
Moordryd: This isn't over Dragon Booster. I'm gonna find you, and when I do...
Toy Dragon: (runs over Moordryds foot)
Moordryd: GaaaahhH!!!!

I got all the DB books that have come out so far (eppies 1-5) and i read this part in the Opposing Force book that made me laugh.
(when Parmon see the wraith dragon through his binocs)
Parm: Artha, you can't joust!
Artha: Can't joust? Funny Parm, funny...
That made me laugh so hard! :D

I had noticed the table was round, but the possible reference to Arthurian legend escaped me until you mentioned it just now. I wouldn't be surprised if they made the table round for exactly that reason.
Fun reference. Glad you spotted that. :cookie:

This is completely possibly completely irrelvent to the episode but of the smallest worth to the show, but look! *points at Sarjo cheering in the stands* He's got some life/personality to him! And Khata's not even in that shot (*is referring to The Horn of Libris beginning*).
Anyway, I wonder, those jousting toys, like Lance's, I wonder if two together could actually joust and not break?
And those huge pipe things... it looks as though one could get pretty lost in there, especially a child... :plot:

He uses that hammer in battle against some wraiths in the later episodes, and you're right, he does smash that table a lot.
BlueBooster - April 22, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
yes I agree the amount of times phistus smashes his knuckles down on that table iam surprised it hasn't given way, must be made from a smash-proof material XD
The Furox - April 25, 2007 05:30 AM (GMT)
Well, not quite smash-proof. :) Phistus breaks the table in the opening titles of every episode! :D

You know, I've always wondered what the purpose of those huge pipes was. They don't seem to be designed to carry water or anything. And some of them extend all the way down to the surface for some reason, and are large enough for a dragon to fit through. Some kind of odd ventilation system?
They remind me a lot of the pipes in the Super Mario games. I wonder if they were put in for a possible video game tie-in.
Maybe someone should ask The Magna Draconis. :)
Arthapenn - April 13, 2008 10:12 AM (GMT)
Lance using his remote controlled dragon toy to run over Cain's feet were funny and fun to watch. It made me laugh, especially at the very end with Moordryd.
"Who did that? Who did THAT?" asked Moordryd, as he rubbed his hurt foot. Hahahahaha!
