In the episode I noticed that durring the race in the fire cave when Lance is on the back of Pyrra's Dragon Lances helmat chages for his normal one at the start of the ep.. to one of the Dragon Flares Helmats and then he has no helmat at the end of the race. Goof, or inteneional? I think is was another sensless goofs.
The Furox - January 4, 2006 08:16 AM (GMT)
I hadn't noticed that, but it sounds like a plain old continuity error.
Professor Parmon - January 11, 2006 06:00 PM (GMT)
Can anyone tell me what the sparking thinky is that Pyrra is holding in the race Sequence at the start of the show after she is takken over by the Psi Assist gear?
The Furox - January 12, 2006 06:38 AM (GMT)
As far as I know, they never name what that is. Some sort of gear/weapon.
Skylii - January 13, 2006 04:27 AM (GMT)
It looks like a small little saw. Maybe some kind of mag-cutter? That can slice off limbs and - okay, shutting up now. :P
Well, this episode was rather interesting, with the start of Personality Flaw!Artha and also the start of The Dreaded Phrase trend (*shudders*) but it was rather good, actually.
I LOVED Word's crazed grin when Pyrrah asked him about the "cheap gear". :D
Those eyes scare me. :XD: They should show those eyes more often. I LOVE how the animators and artists do all the freaky eyes and stuff. (My favorite? The Samurox eyes. Just DRAC. :))
Dragons give off steam? Hmm...
Has anybody noticed that the Magma-class dragon Moordryd and Cain were trying to kidnap in "Still Water Freezes" kind of resembles Sparkk's dragon?
I want to race in the Magma Track. Looks hot. *is slapped for bad pun* :P
So wait, Word can hear what people are saying on his monitors? I noticed that this seemed to only be consistant in this episode. Maybe the Psi-pod thingy whatever has speakers?
And there was, like, soooo much Artha/Pyrrah bouncing around. *is slapped again* Oh, come ON, it was, like, everywhere!

I know. It looks like an electric hack saw. Potentially a very brutal weapon if that's what it really does. :( Though they way they were fighting with it, it looks like it just puts out a force field rather than a cutting beam.

Didn't Personality Flaw!Artha actually start in episode 1? Artha just wanted to lie around and play vid games. He didn't want to have anything to do with dragons, didn't want to go to the academy, didn't want to try riding Beau, and ran off like a spoiled brat when he fell off. He was being pretty obnoxious until he stepped up and saved Lance in act 3. (I really like act 3 of that episode, by the way.)

Yeah, they're pretty close, if not identical, except for the colors. They're probably based off the same model. We see the dragon from "Still Waters Freeze" in the background and on the race track here and there.

I'd say the gear has a built-in camera and mic. Simple enough given the com-link technology they wear on their wrists.

CONTINUATY ERROR ALERT!!!!
When Sparkk falls off his dragon (Methinks its name is Embyrr) Embyrr is standing near the edge. Yet when A and B race past, the dragon isn't there, but reappears when they get back from rescuing Sparkk.
Oh, and I think the Lava Track is in the DB DS game, judging from a screenshot.
Anyone notice that Pyrrah had a vaguely Swedish/Germanic accent?

Interesting; I noticed that too. (Actually, I think Embyrr is the red-haired Dragon Flare girl in the crew.)

Dang, I cast her as a dragon in a story!!!!
*headdesk*
The Furox - January 17, 2006 05:26 PM (GMT)
Yeah, another case of a dragon suddenly disappearing from the action. I guess the writers wanted Artha to be alone so he could transform into the Dragon Booster without being seen, even by another dragon.
And yes, Embyrr is the name of a crew member on the Dragon Flares. The name of Sparkk's dragon is Ferno (according to the trading card game, at least).

More intresting continuaty errors.
When we are treated to a view of the Dragon Flares sitting in wait and Pyrrah and Sparkk on their dragons in front of the fire, we do not see Lance or the dragon he's on.
Oh, and I think this is the first episode featuring that elusive green bipedal dragon (I call it a Clover class dragon). There's also a bipedal brown/green dragon in the same sequence (I think it should be called a Fault-class dragon).
Beaus love for candy is used for a great gag at the end. Gotta love that candy :D .
Ooh, ramming gear for your dragons tail. Clever. Maybe I'll work that into a fic one day.
Beau has a shield?! Sweet. Fire-retardent flying lizards.

Yeah, really! Shields are handy things. Though so far, he only uses it in this episode and "Three Times a Hero". You'd think he'd use it more often than that. :)

Yeah, I think they showed the gear on the official DB website. :)
I almost forgot about the shield. I'm agreeing with Furox here; he should use the shield more often! ;)
Professor Parmon - January 29, 2006 05:25 AM (GMT)
The green gear on the dragons tail is called Green Tail Hammer Gear

Oh, yeah, that's the one! Yep, Swayy's a very lucky person to have that gear. :)
SilverDragon - February 25, 2006 07:27 AM (GMT)
Anyone notice that when Artha was leaping for the black gear, and Pyrrah pulls her hacksaw-thingy out and gives a crazed look, Artha's face goes even crazier? I rolled around laughing, it was so funny.
MORE ERRORS!
It's only a split second, but when the flames are bursting out of the lava, in the pan down from Beau to the lava, Beau is in his gold form! And this is before Artha yells The Other Dreaded Phrase (Clue: Release the ____!)!
When we see the black gear in the race, it is apparently on Phorrj's head. Then, when the hacksaw cuts it off, it's on his ARM. Maybe he magged it there when the green ramming gear was activated.
Cepheus - February 25, 2006 04:20 PM (GMT)
I found one!
When Artha was taking Parm down to meet Mortis for the first time, as the elevator door slid down, Beau was in his black-and-gold form again! He didn't even bother to say "Release the dragon," either.

The racing scene was fun to watch, and Pyrrah showing her kindness to a rookie racer like Artha. I enjoyed the racing scene, and I cannot believe Word was controlling Pyrrah. Overall, it was a good episode. Sparkk being forced to throw Artha and Beau into the lava by firing at the rock above. I did not like that part. He did not want to do it, but his sister forced him to do. Simple, she was controlled.
