I don't suppose you could do another one with baby Moordryd meeting Decepshun for the first time? :D

Well, I decided to take on the idea. :) This will be a multi-parter fic, probably going up to 3 - 5 short and sweet chapters surrounding my take on Moordryd and Decepshun's first time meeting and getting to know each other. Enjoy!

“Moordryd, this is Decepshun. Say hi, Decepshun!”

The tiny dragon youngling bared her teeth in response, though it wasn’t a very welcoming gesture. Zulay’s shoulders tensed as Word placed his hand against his chin in thought. “Interesting…” he murmured.

“Word, I’m not sure if Decepshun should be interacting with Moordryd at all during this time,” Zulay said, giving a quick, warm smile as her child, no more than a few months old, looked up at her with a laugh. She looked back at Word with obvious concern. “She’s not even a year old, and already she’s showing hostile behavioral habits.”

“Which is what makes this interesting,” Word continued on, still staring thoughtfully into space. “Such behavioral habits for a practical newborn…”

Zulay raised an eyebrow at him questionably. “Oh, don’t make me remind you of how you reacted over Moordryd’s first word,” Word shot back, and both husband and wife smirked at each other before looking back down at their son, babbling curiously as he stared at the dragon in front of him, back arched, tail erect and teeth bared. “Decepshun is a fine young dragonling – ”

“And a fine young dragonling she is,” Zulay agreed, still hesitantly. “But I ask you to reconsider. She’s still young, new to the world, and more feisty than her sisters or brothers. Can’t we bring Moordryd to see one of them?”

“Far too gentle, and not the appropriate introduction for Moordryd to dragons,” was his response, with an almost dismissive wave of his hand.

“And the nanny dragon?” was her rebuttal, raising her eyebrow again.

“I meant a dragon around his age,” Word argued. “This way, he can learn to interact with them, and appreciate the glory of such amazing creatures.”

Zulay pursed her lips. Here we go again… “Word, while I agree with you,” she began, hoping that she sounded convincing enough. “I still don’t think that Decepshun is an appropriate choice at all for Moodryd.” She bit her thumb lightly. She watched as Moordryd stood up and waddled towards Decepshun. “What if she hurts him?”

“Zulay, please, you’re being far too paranoid,” Word responded, trying his hardest not to roll his eyes at her. “I thought you of all people would understand.”

“That’s not fair,” Zulay shot back, an edge in her voice that was not meant to be there. She breathed in deeply and looked back at Moordryd. “Well…”

“Trust me, my dear wife, he’ll be fine,” Word persisted with a small smile as he looked at her warmly.

At that moment Zulay’s gaze hardened, and Word turned to see Moordryd reaching over to place his hand on Decepshun’s head. The next thing he noticed was Decepshun’s tail immediately shooting up, and her blue eyes shift towards Moordryd immediately.

“Oh…no…” Word uttered.

Zulay and Word exchanged immediate glances, just as they saw Decepshun swipe a paw at Moordryd. Thankfully, the dragon missed the baby, but Moordryd staggered back in confusion before falling on his bottom as Decepshun walked away briskly.

Moordryd’s lower lip quivered.

Word closed his eyes and gritted his teeth while Zulay winced as Moordryd’s wailing commenced. “‘Trust me, my dear wife, he’ll be fine’,” the white-haired woman repeated contemptuously, rolling her eyes as she picked up Moordryd and walked away, trying to shush him.
