Title: The Powerful Petition
Description: What's the buzz?

silverfang - August 17, 2008 02:36 AM (GMT)
It's been a while since I've seen anyone bring it up so I'm going to ask the question that's on everyone's mind: Are we still getting signitures for the petition? If so, How many more 'til we reach 10,000?

The petition is still going strong. We are up to 8,536 signatures. Furox and I both predict that we will reach the 10,000 mark by the end of the year. But, we still need help reaching that mark. Please get all your friends to sign this petition. Hit up message boards, chatroom, myspace, facebook etc. Post this link anywhere you can.

What matters is not the amount of signatures or how many fans wish to see Dragon Booster Academy - it's whether or not Nerd Corps will even listen to us fans. They're more interested in how lucrative a sequel series may be. If they think it won't bring in much money, they won't do it, since they'd be losing cash on the behalf of a few hardcore fans.

Sad but true.

Renesh - August 17, 2008 02:09 PM (GMT)
And yet Rob gives every indication he'd be happy to do it. I don't presume to know whether he thinks it would be profitable, but I'll trust him to pull through for us if the time comes. All we're really waiting on is for a network to buy the next season. Hence, the petition.

I would have to agree with you. It is sad yet true. I hope Nerd Corp would listen to us and make the new episodes. It will be nice to know more about Armeggaddon.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. Rob has told us numerous times on just how much they would like to do this. It sounds like everyone at Nerd Corps loves this series. We all know that the biggest (Or at least 1 of them) reasons why the seires didn't do so well. Is because, Toon Disney did a lousy job promoting it. Both Furox and I believe that Cartoon Network would be a much better network. And other networks have taken an interest in this show. They have said if the petition reaches 10,000 signatures. They would show a vast interest.

Nerd Corps doesn't have anything to do with whether or not new episodes get made. They're just the production company that does the animation. They don't even own the rights to the show. It's the networks decide what they want to air and at the moment, none of the major networks wants to pony up the funds needed to produce the rest of the series.

Rob still thinks that can change and they're still trying to get the show going again. In fact, he just told me about two weeks ago that they had had some "interesting" discussions about DB recently, but he couldn't elaborate on the details for now. Hopefully they'll be some good news at some point in the future, though I don't know when that might be.

hmmm.... do you mean interesting as in something good or interesting as in really weird?!? :plot:

heehee just kidding ^_^ that is sweet to hear.

Wanlingnic - August 18, 2008 05:58 AM (GMT)
Okay, foot-in-mouth moment. Nerd Corps isn't the network's name? Oh great schmult - I meant to blame them.

What I mean is if a series isn't making much money or garnering much interest, the people who finance it won't see the need to continue it. Many good shows lost out this way - like the Zeta Project, which got cancelled out on only their second season.

I'm as excited as the next person to hear more from the DB universe, and the moment the 10000th signature on that petition comes up, trust me, I'll dance on my tabletop. But I'm definetly apprehensive about raising my hopes for a new series, it doesn't seem like anybody might pay for it yet. Most networks are looking for ways to make moola, and not to possibly lose it to entertain a few fans like us.

Renesh - August 18, 2008 06:14 AM (GMT)
Don't worry about it, we all make mistakes. Though your post makes much more sense now, knowing what you intended to say. :P

**plots about ideas**
Now I'm hiped! Everyone who knows me, knows that I adore this show. Even my older sis sorta likes it. I'm going to post and blog that link to my friends so they know how badly they need that 10k. Most of my firends don't watch or ever heard of the show. Hopefully I'll get them in to it! lol Until then I hope the show comes back... I've never been so into a show, like Dragon Booster.

drake - August 24, 2008 11:46 PM (GMT)

The Furox - August 26, 2008 07:08 AM (GMT)
There's always hope for new episodes. It's mostly a matter of finding a network that wants something new. And the longer DB is off the air, the more it starts to look like a new show again. :)

Thanks for asking your friends to sign the petition. Every little bit helps. :) Hopefully, it will all make a difference. Like everyone else, I want to see more episodes as well!

And for those who haven't read all the past postings, Rob said if the series gets picked up again, then they would run some sort of fan contests where we would get to influence the show to some degree. He didn't elaborate what he had in mind, and I imagine our influence would be very small since they already have a story arc they have to stick to, but it could be fun. Maybe we'll get to pick the name of a new character or something. Who knows, but hopefully we'll get to find out some day. :D

Arthapenn - August 26, 2008 10:29 AM (GMT)
That sounds good enough to me, Furox. Say, Rob, are you suddenly so very busy? Are you free to answer our questions? I am sounding like a grandmother, well, it is true.

The Furox - August 28, 2008 04:30 AM (GMT)
I don't believe Rob has time to check in much, but he did mention to me that he had two other screenplays to work on at the moment so he couldn't answer our last round of questions right away. I'm sure he'll get to it fairly soon though.

Arthapenn - August 28, 2008 06:19 AM (GMT)
Not to worry, Furox. I can wait.

drake - September 18, 2008 10:24 PM (GMT)
hey furox what happens when we get to ten thousand signatures?? will a network re play DB? or some thing like that?? plz tell me that is what they are going to do!!!!!

Renesh - September 19, 2008 03:17 AM (GMT)
It's a petition to get a network to buy season 4. There's no guarantee that they will of course, but it would certainly convince them of an interest.

Umm, we're all going to get a Draconee-Yum bar? :D

Joking aside, nothing sudden happens when the petition reaches 10,000. It's not an automatic trigger, but it just looks really good for Rob when they negotiate with the networks. 10,000 signatures is a pretty significant number and it just adds weight to the presence of the fandom. Also, the fact that we have over 60,000 postings on this forum isn't bad either! It shows them that this show has some really rabid fans! :D

I hope the petition continues to grow. I'd really like to see it cross 10,000 by the end of the year.

drake - September 22, 2008 12:32 AM (GMT)
hey furox if i have things my way there will be over 10000 sigbutures by the end of the year i plan on having all my fiends come over and watch some dragon booster with me. and then sign the petition, so on some days their will be over 100 siguntures going up over my computor hopfully it will help. o and thx you furox and how ever set this web site / forums up so that us dragon booster manicas can talk about it thxs a mill

Renesh - September 22, 2008 04:15 AM (GMT)
Just make sure each person only signs it once drake, more than that and it hurts us rather than helps.

Arthapenn - September 22, 2008 05:05 AM (GMT)
I agree with Renesh. It will hurt us more than help us.

I appreciate the effort. As others have said, one signature per person please. Duplicate and bogus signatures are pretty easy to spot on the petition and it lessens the impact.

This forum was actually created by LightningFlash. The dragon-city.org web site is what I created. I also started and maintain the petition, and I moderate two of the sub-forums here. In any event, glad you're having fun. That's what it's all about. :)

drake - September 22, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
ok well i dont not want to do any thing that would harm our chances of getting DB back on air, so is it ok if i have friends over to use my computor and sign the petiton or whould they term that as one person signing as many different people?

Shining-Dragon - September 22, 2008 08:39 PM (GMT)
as long as your friends all use a seperate email adress. i had to get a second email, so my friend could sign it. its good that its one signing per email

drake - September 22, 2008 11:24 PM (GMT)
ok so they cant use the one that i set up for that purpose like furox did with penn_stables@yahoo.com?

The Furox - September 23, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
The email address doesn't matter. It's only used for sending a confirmation and it isn't displayed with the petition. It doesn't matter what computer you use either.

Your friends can sign from your computer as long as everyone uses their own names. It also helps to leave some unique comments. Duplicate comments are an obvious dead giveaway of a duplicate signature. Comments written in the same style are also pretty obvious since a person's writing style is pretty recognizable. It's best if each person leaves comments in their own words.

drake - September 27, 2008 09:45 PM (GMT)
ok thanks alot furox i will get right on that

general wulf - November 16, 2008 06:28 PM (GMT)

hey you have a point general wulf, thats what i am going to ask rob next round, speaking of witch when will the answers be posted?
and happy birthday general wulf have a good one

Arthapenn - November 17, 2008 01:56 AM (GMT)
Furox will post the answers once he has sorted himself out. He got the answers already, but has not sorted it out.

Renesh - November 17, 2008 02:06 AM (GMT)
I highly doubt there would be a point to asking Rob that. Even if we do get a chance to do another Q&A round with him before then (which I personally find unlikely) he probably wouldn't want to answer that. And besides, then he wouldn't get to surprise us and where's the fun in that?

The Furox - November 17, 2008 03:13 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I don't recommend asking Rob what the surprise is. If he was able to tell us, he would have. I tend to doubt we'll see new episodes in the spring since that would mean they'd have to be in production right now and it's unlikely that they'd be keeping that a secret. Besides, most new shows premiere in the fall in the US and Canada, not in the spring.

As for the last Q&A round, I posted some of the answers already and will be posting more soon. :)

general wulf - December 15, 2008 01:12 AM (GMT)
lol i guess your right. my brain was not working very well at 3 in the morning after a long day at work lol. any ways i cant wait to see what this surprise is that rob has for us
