Title: Dragon Booster - Lights Out
Description: I'm back... again

Penny Dreadful - May 20, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
First things first, I'm on painkillers for my neck at the moment so I can't vouch for how easy this post will be to read...

With that said, I promised you all a video for Dragon Booster using Vegas and here it is!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnGSf_fBBLk

I had started two other projects in the past. Unfortunately, while moving my episodes and related files over to another hard-drive, most everything went missing. I had to download the episodes all over for this particular video. <_<

Anyway, this vid took, roughly, a week to make. YouTube messed with the quality and timing, but I'm rather content with it overall. Lip-synching wasn't intended originally, but I had forgotten that neither Word nor Moordryd ever shut the heck up while they're on screen. Sooo, I went back and messed with the lips a bit to make them fit vaguely. I can definitely do a better job with matching the lips if I pick the clips for that specific purpose. Unfortunately, this time around, it was all done after I'd finished the bulk of the video.

Personally, I think I've improved. Since my last DB video, I've placed decently high in a couple of contests. Most recently, I placed 3rd in the contest/auditions for Visionary Studios - meaning I'm now a member as well.

I feel I've rambled enough. I'm sure most of it was completely incoherent anyway  Feedback is appreciated! I intend to make a new DB vid relatively soon, and I'm in the process of finishing up a new DB-themed fic.

Granted the fic is Cain/Moordryd slash so very few of you will be interested in reading it, but it's on it's way just the same.

You used an MSI song and it only took a week to make? Skillz! Honestly though, I may have commented on YouTube already, but I just can't get over how amazing this is! I think this is my new favorite fanvidd! I give it five cookies! :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie:

^_^ Thanks you!

With the new MSI album out, I could resist using one of the songs from it. Their music is a pain to edit too sometimes though - all the weird little noises in the music.

Awesomeness! Me love. I love how it's so fastpaced and exciting and everything. :P Nothing less than 10/10. :cookie:

Thanks!

Heh, I'm a little amused. I had promised a sweet lil' girly I beta for I would enter my next video in her contest (not enough entries). Now that I've entered the DB video, I suddenly find I'm not the only DB vid entered.

See? This is how we get the show back on the air. We slowly spread through YouTube amv contests... not unlike an infectious disease.

Genius!

Holy ****! That's insane!

I so totally faved your new video and 5 stars! :)

I've been wanting to try a new program like Vegas, but I thought it would be too advanced for me DX but after watching it, I'm so inspired!  Been wanting to make another DB music video but wanted to wait till my semester ended. Now that it is, I got some great songs I want to use ;)

so obviously I loved your new video! thats something I want to do, so any pointers you can give about the program you used? :D

keep up the great work Penny Dreadful! :) <3 <3

Thanks, and I couldn't recommend Vegas more. I have Vegas 6, and it's just perfect for me. I can't imagine switching back to something like WMM now.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask or PM me in the future. A lot of what I do still takes some experimenting around, but I think I have a good hold on the basics these days.

If I were to give you one piece of advice, it's zoom in on your timeline. Your clips don't just snap together like with other programs. If there's a gap between clips, the screen with show nothing for the length of the missing clip (flash black).

Also, don't be afraid to add new layers to the video. Lights Out had, at least, more than five layers. Don't be afraid to make your own effects either. Again, as you can see in my newest DB video, a lot of those effects aren't instantly generated.

Ex. When I have Word and Moordryd in 75% black and white... I cut out Moordryd, added a glow to him and put him on a new layer over the first picture. I timed it to flash with the music then did the same with Word. I then added a cookie cutter effect on the very top so that that the color bled back across the screen after they had lit up.

There are all sorts of nifty tricks you can pull off.

Nice video on Word and Moordryd. I like it. Take good care of your neck, Penny Dreadful.
