Prologue

It was a stormy night, with the rain pounding hard in the lane. A shadowed figure stood in the lane, with two garbage bins fifteen feet from it. The shadowed figure was searching for food, not for its personal use, but for its friends. Its friends are hungry, and are depending on it to bring food. A lighting streaked in the darkened sky, revealing a row of teeth, and an unusual large brain. The figure said, "The Dragon Booster will pay dearly for this. He will not be able to escape my latest plan this time, once I gather the few faithful Prophets. This storm will not stop me, from searching for food. Dragon Booster forced me to search in the dark lanes. It is not safe for me to show my face in the city. The city is on full alert." It was Propheci, and he had escaped from his prison and from Reepyr. He managed to rally a few of the Prophets Crew members to his cause, and together with these few, he found a new hiding place. A whimper reached his ears, and he smiled, as a figure crawled to him. He asked, "What are you doing here, Billy? You should not be wandering out on your own. I found you four months ago, and I left a nanny in charge of you. Did you escape from your nanny again?"
Billy looked up at Propheci, whimpering at the sound of his questioning tone, and Propheci became kinder. The orange dragon picked him up, and said, "I cannot be angry with you for long. You have shown me unlimited love and kindness. You have taught me to be gentle."
A loud wailing noise thundered in the stormy night, startling the dragon pup, Billy. Propheci strained his hearing senses to locate the wailing noise, and after a heart-breaking minute, he discovered the location. It was coming from the other side of a pipe, and shielding the pup closely, he jumped to the other side of the pipe. The wailing nose was louder now, and it came from a narrow lane. Trotting to the lane, he found a baby. The baby was covered in a newspaper, and Billy was placed next to the baby. Billy nuzzled the baby, and the baby stopped crying.
"Poor human, is that right, Billy?" Billy whimpered, and the orange dragon magged the two young ones.

"I found the baby all alone, in the dark alleys. There was no one in the alley. I could not find his parents anywhere, no matter how hard I searched. I may have been hard on all of you before, but Billy has shown me a soft spot. The baby was strong enough to lift Billy, and since he can endure the storm, I will call him Max." Propheci told the Prophets. The orange dragons cheered, despite their hunger. When Propheci came back with Billy, and a human infant, the Prophets were disappointed, yet they did not allow their irritation to be shown in their expressions. They were famished, and had not eaten for three whole days. The insufficient amounts of food left in the hideout were given to Billy. Billy was a growing dragon, and he needed to eat. One of the orange dragons stomped to Propheci, and Billy gave a frightening sqweak, and in spite of his small size, the pup managed to crawl away. This was his nanny dragon, and he was not very happy.
Proheci shielded the pup, and said, "Josha, please listen to me. Do not be angry with Billy today, because he did a wonderful job. He discovered a human child, and has made a new friend. He has become good friend with the human child, whom I am calling Max. Billy is a good dragon pup, and I will be happier if he can help you when he grows up. I ask you do not punish the dragon pup today. I will take full responsiblity if he wanders off again. Do you remember how we found him in a sack? Do you remember how you pitied the pup, and pestered me to be gentle? Yes, Josha, it was you who told me to pity the dragon."
Josha roared, and Propheci replied, "Thank you, Josha. I will make sure Billy will not wander off again. If he does wander off again, I will scold him. Since he is back, you can take him into your claws. But, there is one problem now." The dragons watched Billy, as the pup nuzzled Max. Young Max sneezed into the dragon's tiny face, and Billy responded by backing away. But it did not take long, and the dragon pawed the baby, causing Max to laugh. Max had stopped crying long ago, in the alley after he was discovered.
Josha nodded, and magged the two young ones. Billy turned to look at his nanny, and smiled his tiny smile. Max whimpered, and Billy sqweaked, causing him to laugh again. Propheci smiled, "It looks like Max and Billy are going to be good friends for life. Just like Dragon Booster and his dragon. Max and Billy will be looking after each other. I am sure Billy will be looking after Max more than Max will be looking after Billy! I have lived long with Reepyr, and I can understand humans, even though I do not accept them." Josha roared a question, and he replied, "Of course, I will accept humans now. Max was so pitiful and lonely that I just could not leave him in the alley to die. I trust you will train them well, Josha. You did a good job with Billy, and Max cannot be any different. I will go out again, this time to find food for the crew. I have been searching long before the storm came, and I am tired. As your leader, I will do what I must do. David, if I do not come back tonight, you will be the new leader of the Prophets Crew."

Propheci searched hard, in the alley where he had gone to earlier. He looked into the bins, and found some rubbish bags. He magged the bags out of the bins, and tore the bags open. He looked through the rubbish, and found seven banana skins, and nine fishbones. He magged a box, and he started to pack the box with the banana skins and fishbones.
"In the alley again, Propheci? I though I told you to stay clear of the alley." came a voice the dragon did not want to hear. It was the Dragon Booster, and another Booster, whom Propheci had not seen before. This Booster was blue, and the dragon observed them. After thinking, he came to the conclusion. “This must be the Energy Booster, I had heard about. As the Energy Booster had come, so did the other Boosters. The Dragon Booster said, again, “I though I told you to stay away from the alley. Why are you searching for food again? Are we starving you? Well, you have no choice now, haven’t you? The city is on full alert, in case you terrify the citizens again. We will not let you enter the city again. Is that right, Fire Booster?” The Red Booster drew level with Propheci, and replied, “You are right, Dragon Booster. If you dare show your face around the city and the alley, I will challenge you to a dragon one on one battle. Power Booster, what are the chances of Propheci winning this challenge?” The Power Booster, the Green Booster, replied, “Propheci will not be able to win that duel. Not with the Dragon of Legend.”
Turning to Propheci, Dragon Booster said, “If I find you here again, I will challenge you. Got that?”
Propheci growled, “I will not accept your challenge, Dragon Booster. It is not right. I have no choice, but to search for food in the alley. Come now, Dragon Booster, I have changed. I am no longer the mindless leader. I have feelings now.”
Fire Booster asked, "What did you say, Propheci? I did not hear you. I cannot hear you."
Propheci, at the corner of his eye, searched for a way to escape. As far as he could see with his eyes, he was trapped. He raised his voice, and the alley walls vibrated with the sound of his voice, "I have feelings now. I am not the mindless dragon you found in the Track of Doom. I have changed so much, the past four months. A tiny spark of life has taught me to be kinder than I was in the past."
A whimper suddenly sounded, and Propheci froze. He did not need to look down, to know it was Billy. Billy's tiny form appeared underneath the orange dragon, and looked up. The Boosters stared at the tiny dragon, and Propheci picked it up, and stroking it. He nodded, "This was the tiny spark of life who has taught me to love lives. I understand, Dragon Booster, you are merely doing your job. You will not allow evil to live. Believe me when I say I have changed so much. I promise I will not come into this alley again. I know it is not safe in the city for my people and I. Please allow me to go home. I will take as much as rubbish as I can."
Power Booster said, "Let's give him food. He will not be able to come out of his home for some time. Much as I want to trust him, we have to keep an eye on him. His people should not be starving. Apprently, the Prophets are giving all they can find to this dragon pup. Energy Booster, what do you say? Should we trust his word?"
Energy Booster asked his dragon, and the dragon nodded. He replied, "My dragon agrees we must trust him. I notice something which you had not noticed before. Propheci looks much thinner than the last time we saw him. The Prophets are starving themselves to death. Power Booster is right. Let's give him plenty of food, so he will not come out for a while. Poor pup."

"You have seen my home, Boosters. I trust you will not reveal to others. Yes, I have found a human baby. We are grateful to you for giving us all these food. This should last us for some months. I owe you my thanks, but my time is up. I am old, and cannot serve anymore. My second-in-command is the new leader now. I promise you the young ones will take care of us." spoke Propheci. His Prophets started to eat, and Billy was almost lost in the mad rush. Josha magged Max and Billy, in time to avoid a crush. Dragon Booster looked around the home, and was shocked to see how small it was. He said, "We will not reveal your home to others, Propheci. We will give you food from time to time, until you are feeling very full."
When the Boosters left, Propheci told Max and Billy, "Although you are too young to understand, I believe you will heed my advice. The Boosters are your friends. You will grow up to be the best racer the world has ever seen. You will be great in the future. My will to survive had stopped the aging process. But now I must leave. David, you are the new leader of the Prophets. Goodbye, Josha." Billy whimpered, and Max cried. Propheci nodded, "Good, you understood what I was saying."
Propheci looked at his dragons for the last time, and went into his room. David roared.

Chapter 1

"Did you see that? The first time was a long time ago. Can you believe how long ago it was? It was sixty-five years ago, and no one had been able to attempt the Leap of Lorius, until a young rider learned of a plot to capture all dragons and their riders. His name was Artha Penn, and two other dragon racers followed him. I am a beginner racer, and this racing course is for the beginners. Are you brave enough, Billy?" A stranger asked, turning away from the tv. The stranger's name was Max. Upon hearing his name, the dragon turned to look at Max. The dragon nodded, and Max stroked his head.
"You saw that, did you not, Billy? I should not have been stupid. Ever since we had been old enough to explore the city without Josha looking out for us, there has been no sign of our father and mother. The Prophets had not found a trace, despite an extensive search. I am glad we had been able to make a world of difference for Propheci. He was a good leader, even though we were both too young to remember him. Can you forget the kindness he had shown to you and me?" Billy roared, "As far as Josha could tell me, I was tossed out several times, and I persisted in returning to the Prophets. Propheci realized it was useless to throw me out, and allowed me to stay on. We have done Generic Street Race, and we managed to win the race for the first time. We had raced it twelve times, and in the first six races, we came in last. Although we came in last, the audience cheered for me. It strengthen my will to do better. Just three days ago, we came in first. You and I must do this race course again."
Max nodded, remembering his first race. He had been racing twelve times, and he believe he was getting better. He remembered his first race, when the racers stared at him, an unknown racer. He said, "Hello. My name is Max." One of the racers sneered at him, and another racer said, "Welcome to the race, Max. You will find it will not be easy for a new racer to survive until the finish line. You must be prepared." Max and Billy could understand each other, without the use of any Black Gears. They are a team, and nothing will separate this two.
Max stretched his arms, and shiftled a yawn, as he said, "We must sleep tight tonight, Billy. You will need all your strength for tomorrow's race, Horn of Libris. That racer, who was kind to me, in the first race, will help me tomorrow. How nice of Seth to help me. I wonder what crew he belongs to. He seems helpful enough."

In the morning, Max saw Seth coming towards him, and waved to him. Billy stood next to him, watching Seth carefully. Seth returned his wave, and asked, "Are you ready, Max, for the Horn of Libris Race? Basically, there are four dragons, each dragon having two riders. I am an experienced racer, and you are a beginner. I will drive your dragon, and you must go through a few rings to reach the target. Once you have hit this target, the green wall will come down for a while, and the dragon must use this exit to go up to the next level. In history, The Inner Order were the sure winners of the Horn of Libris. Until fifteen years ago, when Moordryd Paynn and Cain won it by cheating. They are members of the Dragon Eyes, and I am a member of the Dragon Eyes. You do not belong to any crew now, right? Why don't you join the Dragon Eyes? Moordryd Paynn has passed his leadership down to me. I offer you my friendship and guidence. Since your dragon is grey like Coershun, he rightfully belongs to Dragon Eyes. Do you agree to my friendship?"
Max stared at the offered hand, and after a pause, he shook it. Seth patted his shoulder, and said, "Welcome to Dragon Eyes, Max. Do not worry about the other racers. You will be a great racer, although you would have to compete with Lance Penn. Lance has learned a great deal from his elder brother, Artha Penn. Lance may make you lose the race, but you must focus on the race and nothing else. Let's get to the Dragon Eyes tent, and you must pratise your mag jump. It is vital you must learn to control your mag jump. If you do not pratise it, you will never be able to go up to the next level. I must remind you that the Inner Order will not allow other racers to get the Horn of Libris. Now, shall we go to the tent? This is a good lesson for you."
Billy smiled, and Max stroked his head. Seth nodded, pleased that the new racers had accepted his friendship and guidence. He was not as sneaky as Moordryd, and was more friendler.

Taking place fifteen years after Arthapenn made the leap? Lovely story. Decent prologue. Long one.

Arthapenn - May 20, 2008 08:08 AM (GMT)
Is there more?

Decepshunmy - May 25, 2008 08:52 AM (GMT)
Yes, Arthapenn. There is more, because I am going to write about Max and Billy doing the Leap.
