"I have to make sure my saddle does not move, when I adjust my seating. How long ago was it, since Artha left us?" Kitt asked Parmon and Lance. They were seated on their dragons, held by the White Rappel Gear used by Francshun. She was shifting her seating, holding tightly to her saddle's handles. Below her and her friends, were a deep ravine. One slip and they might not be seen or heard again. Kitt dared not look down, as a new fear overcome her. Her dragon had closed his eyes too, too afraid to look down.
Parm replied, "Artha has been gone for a long time, for more than two hours. I do not want to think about why he has been gone a long time. Kwake should not have come here to dig. Look what he has gotten us into. It is his fault. It is, Kitt, do not argue with me. Reflect on how we got into this sitution. What was it Kwake was doing here? He came here to dig, and that caused the ground to be unstable, forcing it open, and making our dragons fall. Be lucky Lance has the white gear with him, making it easier for Artha to pull us up. Anyhow, we are stuck here, and our dragons are hanging on by the gear, by a jagged rock. Lance, how is Fracshun's energy?" He looked up, and Lance looked at the mag energy bars before returning his look. The younger Penn crew member gulped, and a lump entered his thoat. He turned to his left, and noticed Kitt looking up at him.
"It does not look promising, Kitt, Parmon. I have good news and bad news. The good news is, the energy levels are at a reasonable level. The bad news is, the white energy is getting dangerously low. If my brother does not come back for us, we would drop off. You are right in saying you would rather not think about what has happened to my brother, Parm. I am getting worried. My father has left my brother and I alone. My mother died, giving birth to me. I was afraid, when Artha could not find our father. Fracshun will not be able to mag the white gear any longer. What about your dragons? Kitt, would you be able to use the Red Thruster Gear. Hmm, on second though, you had better not use it. We might get hut. Kitt, I must properly thank you for coming to save us from the Dragon Eyes Crew."
Kitt smiled, "You are most welcome, Lance. I am alone too, with Wyldfyr." She was happy that someone is grateful for her help.
Above the ravine, Kwake was in a state of shock, and did not move for a long while. He kept repeating, "What have I done? I let four youngsters fall into the ravine hole, and it is all my fault. Rumbull, I cannot go back to the city and to my brother, not after what I had done to those four young riders and the Dragon Booster. Rumbull, it is time we go into exhile." A few metres away from him laid the still form of Dragon Booster, with a long length of building structure on top of him. He dared not look at the Dragon Booster's dragon, who was pushing with all its might to move the stone from Dragon Booster. The black and gold dragon grunted, and roared at Rumbull, "Why did you not move in to help my rider? He is not moving, and I am worried about him. I do not know whether he is alive or not. You cannot help him now." Rumbull did not respond. He knew he had failed to help another fellow dragon.
"It is two bars only, Penn Crew. Fracshun cannot hold the gear any longer. This is the end for us." cried Lance, his face too painful to be looked at. Kitt and Parmon exchanged looks, before they started to close their eyes. The younger dragon felt his mag energy being drained, and groaned loudly. He suddenly felt lighter on his chest, and looked down, voicing his fear. The white gear on his chest has just fallen down, and he feared that the gear he had magged on earlier onto his back will be the next gear to fall off. It came five minutes later, and he felt himself slipping off the gear he had on his back. He and his rider started to scream, and the last thing he heard was, "Lance, nooooooooooooo!" Kitt and Parmon were screaming Lance's name, as they could not believe that the youngest Penn Crew member had fallen. Fracshun's energy ran out, and could not mag the gears anymore. Since the young dragon was hanging in thin air, he fell into the ravine. Kitt was in a state of shock, and for a few minutes, she did not do anything. Without looking at Parm, she activated the Red Thruster Gears, and in a short while, she flew up. Parm cringed, and made a frantic grab for the White Rappel Gear. At first, he did not succeed, and a sudden movement made him panic. He tried again, and this time, he got it. Holding it in his hands, he placed it on his dragon's back, and felt himself moving upwards. His screen came on, and Kitt's face came on.
Kitt said, "Hold on, Parm. I am finally on the ledge, and I will get my dragon to pull you. Just hold on!" She gently urged her dragon to pull Parmon up. It took nearly ten minutes to pull them up. Parmon thanked her, and she said, "We will have to tell Artha the bad news." He nodded sadly, and she bowed her head, sadly. They did not feel like crying, but they looked at each other. They understood. Parm asked, "How do we get up there?" Kitt took the white gear from the green dragon, and placed it on her dragon. She told her dragon, "Rest for a few minutes, Wyldfire."
Eight minutes later, the two crew members surveyed the scene, and at the same time, they heard dragon roars. Their dragons rushed to the scene, and they were shocked to see the black and gold dragon next to a slanting rock. Beau noticed them, and roared loudly. Kitt drove her dragon closer, and was shocked to see the still form of Dragon Booster. She jumped off from her dragon, and rushed to Dragon Booster. She yelled at Parm, "Come here, and help me to move this rock." It was done, and she turned Dragon Booster onto his back. She felt his pulse, and placed her ear to his face. Parmon felt his chest, and quickly, looked around for any sign of Kwake. There was no sign of Kwake now. Truly believing he was at fault, Kwake had left the place.
Looking at Kitt, Parmon questioned her with a glance. She nodded, and he located the armulet, and took it out. Dragon Booster was transformed back into Artha Penn. "Oh no!" was all Kitt could utter. Artha's head was bleeding, and Parmon cradled his head carefully. Beau voiced his thoughts, and Parmon cleaned the wound as gently as he could. Kitt tried to remember what she had learned in her childhood. She had formerly been a member of the Dragon Flares Crew, and this crew had an elder, Blayze.
"Remember, Kitt, if any of your friends are not moving, apply this skill I had learned from a friend. You must use this skill straight away, otherwise there is no hope, especially if you are very far from the city, and from help." Blayze told Kitt, years earlier. Kitt remembered her advice, and applied the skill she had learned. CPR, a medical term to apply to a still friend. It was a long progress.
Suddenly, a cough filled the air. As the three dragons watched, Artha slowly opened his eys, and coughed loudly. Parmon could barely contained his joy. "He is alive!"
"Yes, Parm. I am alive. It is good to see you, Kitt. I am glad to see the two of you. But where is Lance?" Artha asked, upon recovering. He looked from left to right, and heard a small cough from his right. Kitt was not looking at him, and cleared her thoat. "I am sorry to tell you this, Artha. But Lance is gone."
"What do you mean?" asked Artha. Parm was not looking at him, either, and replied, "Lance fell into the ravine, and he is gone."
"Nooooooooooooo! First my father, now my brother. I am alone now. Oh Lance." cried Artha. His tears flowed down easily, and Beau got closer to him. The dragon sat down, and the two embraced for a long time, sharing each other's emotions. Beau remembered Fracshun, and remembered teaching the younger dragon everything he knew. He was very sad too, as Fracshun was like a younger brother to him. Kitt and Parmon left them to their grief. The red and green dragon were sad too. They missed the younger dragon, who had been their favorite. They remembered his eagerness to get into the thick of the action. Fracshun was always doing his best to keep up with them, especially when he was running away from the boulder in the Lost Track of Doom. The green dragon remembered that the blue dragon had managed to keep a safe distance from the dragon stampede.
The End
Please read and review my first fanfic. Thank you.
Dragon Booster not moving, and with Beau not knowing how to check, i am finding it sad. Lancepenn, you could write a bit more on the Dragon Booster. You wrote the main characters are the Penn Crew, so what happened when Lance and Fracshun fell into the ravine.
Write more on the Penn Crew's emotions. How did they react? If they get out, and DB is alive, what will they tell him?
Overall, a good job. Write more about their emotions now, okay? Nice story.
