Character Design - Act 1

This thread is for design and discussion of the new characters that are introduced in Act 1. The new characters we need to design are:

Humans:
Kadmyss
Fira

Dragons:
Cephyiss
Oryon
Word's black dragon from seq. 5

Other:
dragon hound

i've already started on designing Cephyiss, but i will need the answer to my question before i put the final touches

And I started one of Fira. I forgot. Is Kadmyss a boy or girl?

i might be able to do oryon too, except what she looks like and what her draconian is, is still unknown to me (though the latter should be answered soon)

Well, I believe you can do it and do it well anyway. No matter how hard it is!

Note that Nayade has some designs already before we launched this thread. See her posting here.

Though if you have some ideas of your own you want to try, feel free! There's nothing that says there can't be different breeds of dragon hounds.

I promise I will upload them the next week colored in three versions (as Furox, Mari and I imagined them.) And then we can choose what version look better.
Also, the next week, I will add more progress with the Storyboard.
But for now, until march 21, I will be absent for exams, sorry.

I know he's supposed to have a ponytail of sorts, but I'll put that in when his torso's done. Anything I should change here?

I tried to put a black outline around his eyebrow, but it didn't quite work out. :(

It's not a thick black line, it's a thin one like the lines around his ear, jaw line, nose, clothes etc. Like in this pic of older Word, there are the thin black lines around his eyebrows, his hairline, mouth and nose.

You mean the one Word is using for it's energy? I doubt it'd be a baby. I think it'd have to be somewhat strong, considering what Word is using it to do.

We`ve seen Word take mag energy forcibly from Decepshun in "Framed".

The head looks AMAZING, Liliwen!! Great job!
His nose/face seems a bit flat. Kinda like a pug. XD Other than that, great!

Only two little details strike me: the pupils seem slightly too big - I think we should see more of the grey iris area. Also, the outline on his unibrow seems inconsistent. It turns black at the ends when it should stay grey. Maybe that's just a rendering issue though.

But those are just details. It really does look great just as it is!

And yes, I agree that the dragon Word is using is probably a young adult and not a baby. I think it should be a dragon about the age and size of Decepshun or perhaps a few years younger.

Regarding the outline, it looks like maybe it's not on the very outer edges except the far left/right of the brows.
e.g. when the brows get to the main head, the outline looks like it hides behind either the brow or inside the head.

Going mainly by the side view made me think of it, i might be totally wrong but it's just a thought.

Thanks guys. :) I just can't seem to get the black outline to stay consistent around his eyebrow. Well, there is one way, but it has awful side effects to the rest of the render. I'll just have to find out a different way.

It almost resemble the Word from...uh...what was the episode's name already? (the one which chronicled Word's expulsion from the Dragon Priesthood)

That would be "Paynn Rising". And yes, Liliwen's model looks really good relative to how teenage Word appeared in that episode!

I drew a blank template of Fira (just the body shape) for people to use when designing her. I'll get that pictured and uploaded ASAP!

Anyway, I just now took the pictures of stuff. I'm working on cleaning up editing them right now. ;)

How long has Fira been pregnant? Like two months, five months, 8 months? Because that would make a difference in the belly size

Yeah, I know. But I can't draw pregnant women. Unless you wanted her looking like some sort of whale. :lol:

So I just drew her the way she'd look BEFORE she got pregnant. Smart, ain't I? And we can just PRETEND for now that she's in her first trimester or so, so she isn't showing yet. :D Point being, I was lazy and didn't wanna do preggers. :rolleyes:

Oh, Dragon Fanatic- MD didn't say how pregnant she was, but the way he said "slender except for the pregnant part" makes it sound like she's pretty far along. So... I'm just gonna assume she's, like, 7 months or something.

Oh, since you're doing some modelling, Liliwen, here are some NICE screens I took via YouTube of young Word. ;) These should help a bunch. Now you can fix Word's nose! ^_^

Oooh, I love the club/fin/tail thingy!! That's really awesome! And the spikes on the back of the jaw... I think those ought to be added to our models. I'll see if I can sketch up a combo of mine, yours and Nayade's today in class.

Oh, and here's mine (in case I haven't posted already)

Oh... Now that's gonna be cool! Maybe if we took the spines off yours, and put them on the back of mine, with the markings of Nayade's.

i just drew oryon today, and she looks like one angry mama :P
