Furox: The Fury Unleashed!

Oh man, have I been wanting to make this video for a long time! For obvious reasons, I've really wanted to make a Furox video, but I had trouble deciding on just the right song. The other problem was that there is actually very little footage of Furox. My Propheci video was a lot easier to make in this respect since Propheci has tons of dialog and hence is on-screen a lot. Furox doesn't get that benefit so the other characters get most of the camera time. That kind of limited my choices for what I could do.

The song I used is John Williams' "Duel of the Fates" from Star Wars Episode 1. I actually had the idea to use this song very early on, but I pushed it aside and tried to find another rock song like I did for my Propheci video. I never found a good song to go with the limited footage, so I eventually came back to my first idea of "Duel of the Fates". The song wasn't structured quite right for the type of video I wanted to make, so in addition to editing the video footage, I edited the song as well and re-organized it to fit the way I wanted to tell the story. That added to the time it took to get this done, but I think it was worth it. I put quite a lot of effort into this one, including making an animated title element for the opening that glows the way the bone mark of the Furox glows.

Anyway, I hope you like it. The music really makes an impact, so try to view it on a computer with a decent set of speakers or use good headphones. You can view it as follows:

Thanks, that seemed to be the best way to do it. I tried to think of different ways to organize the footage and different types of stories that one could tell with it, but in the end I came back to telling Furox's known story from start to finish. It falls nicely into three acts and the music could be edited to be in three segments as well. Editing the music was the key thing since the original version doesn't build up in the right places.

Anyway, glad to you both like it. :) I have an idea for a video about Beau which will probably be my next one.

Ooh... I can't wait for that one now! Are you going to tell the legend of the legendary dragon? or just Beau's story as a regular dragon?

It's going to be about the heroic nature of the present day Beau. As I've always said, as far as I'm concerned Beau is the true hero of the show and Artha's just along for the ride. :) So this video will be about Beau the hero. :)

Not sure how long it will take me to make it. As you can see, I don't produce these very rapidly. :D

Very good job. I really like the footage of when Moordryd places the bone mark of Beau and he transforms. The only tiny iota that I dont have 100% fantasm about is how long it is. But it is a very amazing peice. See if the Magna Draconis likes it!

Yeah, I couldn't believe how well that section of the music works with the animation. It was just the perfect backdrop for the action. Actually, all the music from there on out works just perfectly.

It is a bit on the long side. I could have cut the whole section with Wyldfyr and Kitt running the gauntlet and it wouldn't really affect the overall story, but I just like that sequence too much and I love how it played with the music, so I put it in. Sometimes I do things just for me. :)

Oh, I always loved this song. We played it in band. One heck of a thing to play in jr. high, but when you got it, you sounded absolutely cool!

Cool, that must be fun to play. I assume you didn't have a choir on hand for the vocals. :) What did the arrangement you used substitute for that?

Interesting piece of trivia:

According to the web, the choir in the piece is chanting an archaic Celtic poem that was translated into Sanskrit to make it more ancient sounding. The poem is called "Battle of the Trees" and in English the line reads "Under the tongue root a fight most dread, and another raging behind, in the head." Fun, huh? It kind of applies to Furox as well. :)

Great video, good choose of music and the scenes goes very well.
I liked the sequence of Kitt and when Moordryd places the bonemark on Beau.

Loved the Fury unleased! Nice work, in combining Fanning the flames and Pride of the hero together. I especially loved the timing of the staccato horn stabs while Kitt is dodging the traps. Very nice! I gotta watch Propheci video next!! :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :cookie: :D
